I thought it was the keyboard? tfw the aliens actually just wanted to sample some of our Earth porn, and just also left Helious behind as consolation, that'd explain the sticky green goo...
31:24 About the Japanese word "sokoban". It's written 倉庫番 (sōko-ban) and means someone that is assigned to managing a warehouse. In this case, it's not like a massive Amazon warehouse, but like a storehouse or somewhere where maybe you store tools, or maybe document archives. This could be a building or just a room. Sōko (倉庫) is "warehouse" or "storeroom" and ban (番) comes from tōban (当番), meaning someone who is assigned to look after something. There's nothing that necessitates a sōko-ban is a man rather than a woman so "warehouse man" sounds like a weird superhero name
45:30 Can you imagine if a preschool show that has a random song number evey episode had a segment that just cut to this? It would be dramatically animated but it would still somehow look like this or something. I'm a bit ashamed of how hard that idea makes me laugh.
I played Helious as a kid, just a few years back I looked up the backstory on a review and never thought it as a creepypasta, cool to see Joel playing it and reacting to this. I giggled a bit when he said: "This game seems made by bots"
I fell a sleep and let the TH-cam go in the background, just hours later wake up by hearing Joel screaming "IT'S TIME TO CUUUM!", which would make just a fine alarm ring tone.
2:58:31 - I bet Skunny Kart uses ctrl/alt/shift as controls because old keyboards didn't like it when you held down too many keys, and wouldn't work. But Ctrl, Shift, and Alt have to be able to be held down at the same time, so they're safe to use :)
1:23:00 - Jesus, I remember this game... it was trippy as hell... That thing you're staring at is some sort of level password system? All you do is fly around some helium ball... I can only remember spending hours on this before I had any actual games.
I had pandemonium 1 & 2 on PS1 and i can also vouch for that. When i got a demo disk with pandemonium on it on PC gamer i was flagbastered. Never ever i had seen before a PC version being worse than the console one.
Pandemonium was one of those games that was essentially made to run on 3DFX Voodoo cards. It looks way better than the console versions if you run it in Glide, but that requires a Voodoo. This doesn't even look like it was running in DirectX though, but rather software mode.
Had the Saturn version. Bout the same, but the FMVs were grainier. I think that happened a lot with PS1 games ported to the Saturn; Soviet Strike looked pretty bad too.
3:01:00 - Skunny is absolute freaking garbage. I remember the Roman/time travel game the best because it was actually playable. The plane one will defo make you commit sudoku.
I'm just now realizing that at least two of those symbols in helious are aurebesh from star wars. The downward pointing arrow is T and the arrow pointing like northwest is S (granted the aurebesh letter is mirrored and upside down, and there are other slight differences, but they're close enough for me.)
I heard "Fisherman's delight" and immediately went to "isn't this that one painting that is credited with starting the whole tentacle fetish thing?" and then remembered that that was "The Dream of the Fisherman's Wife".
1:19:39 Although no one will probably see this if you're wondering what that song is, it's The Cassions/Army Goes Rolling Along. It's the official song of the US Army.
Trash quality games were so expensive in the 90s lol. I only had a handful of pc games as a little kid, half of them came from cereal boxes or the scholastic book fares. I also had this werid probably bootleg sailor moon colouring paint game on a floppy, which I can't find anywhere on the internet.
Helious definitely seems like an "otherworldly" game, however it isn't completely incomprehensible, except for say the level select screen. I really like surrealism stuff like helious, but it's hard to believe something extra terrestrial made it, even if they were advanced enough to make a 32 bit game. Again it seems very comprehensible for a surreal type game, and yeah I know it is "modified" if the story of the game is true, but the guy said he didn't change too much. I feel as if another life form made a game on this dude's hard drive, it would be absolutely incomprehensible by any means, it most likely wouldn't be playable by human. That's just what I think maybe I'm wrong idk
what is up with that mechwarrior ripoff "Megatron" lol I never heard of that game. looks like it took sprites from the 1989 Mechwarrior game. I got excited Joel actually talked about mechwarrior for once. my favourite game back in the day was mechwarrior 2 "the one with no textures, just spangly mechs blasting each other" The A.I Computer reading out dmg on your mech' was the best.

NUMBER 15 ALIEN GREEN FLUID. THE LAST THING YOU WANT IN YOUR COMPUTER'S HARD DRIVE IS SOMEONE'S GREEN FLUID, BUT THAT MAY BE WHAT YOU GET.

Ken from Ken's Labyrinth is actually Ken Silverman, who went on to create the Build Engine used in Duke 3D
Ken's a great guy. He was happy to assist when I was developing the Ken's Labyrinth port for Nintendo Switch

wow I can't believe he got the real Chills to narrate the helious segment! It's really him guys!!!
Wow!
58:20 what the hell
Imagine aliens getting excited at the reveal of Helious on the outer space E3.
Helious 7: Human Invation
The new chapter system is amazing.
Thank you based youtube.
After ten kajillion bad updates they released one gud one. Truly a MUG moment gamers.

*18 funny frens*
I almost died when Joel read "Are we alone?" And "Whoa..... Diarrhea"
Joel really tried to edit a BMP in a CD ROM and wondered why it didn't work
I love this guy

1:25:54 lol i’m the one who said that in chat. Made me feel good to make Joel laugh! ☺️
I fell a sleep and let the TH-cam go in the background, just hours later wake up by hearing Joel screaming "IT'S TIME TO CUUUM!", which would make just a fine alarm ring tone.
1:45:03 damn that was a perfect timing
Holy shit, Joel played Helious, I haven't heard about this game ever since I watched Accursed Farms's video on it.
Arcade America, too!
did he just triple upload? if so, thats very gamer of him

"That's the roots of fortnite baby"
Joel
Its closer to being the roots of Duke Nukem 3D
I love how Joel is too scared to read creepypastas. Especially when it's about aliens, he just ridicules it to hell since he's so terrified of them
signal simulator got him fucked up
woah . . . diarrahea

I had Pandemonium on the PS1 as a kid and yes the graphics and music were better than the PC version you are playing.
Yo,
We talkin' about Pandemonium in here?
I had pandemonium 1 & 2 on PS1 and i can also vouch for that. When i got a demo disk with pandemonium on it on PC gamer i was flagbastered. Never ever i had seen before a PC version being worse than the console one.

2:57:05 - I don't know why, but this game was freaking amazing when I was a kid. The combat modes at least.
Someday I want to see Joel and Ross Scott interacting. I feel like they would get along well.
19:30 I dunno about the actual game, but the multiplayer has a stage where Bowser appears.
He doesn't do much if I remember correctly though.
37:00 oh my god i remember playing this at my grandmoms all the time!
That Balloonz menu just piledrived the memories into me. I forgot all about that game.
Yes! I love these shareware madness streams!
_Are we alone?_
Helious is the best game made by aliens
I'm from the USA and I called the number at 2:07:14 and it took me to "the online store's customer service, powered by digital river"
I'm just now realizing that at least two of those symbols in helious are aurebesh from star wars. The downward pointing arrow is T and the arrow pointing like northwest is S (granted the aurebesh letter is mirrored and upside down, and there are other slight differences, but they're close enough for me.)
What is the MIDI played at 45:31 ? Its bugging the hell out of me and I cannot think what it is.
Ram Ranch :)))))
Sounds like blood brothers by papa roach
"Alright" oh yeah that's the stuff
There's something hilariously ironic about Joel playing Helious, considering the "backstory".
However, there is one question...
are we alooOO- *laugher intensifies*
Helious, now we know what was the inspiration for UFO PORNO!
I think we all need to check for alien buttholes after that Helious game.
I heard "Fisherman's delight" and immediately went to "isn't this that one painting that is credited with starting the whole tentacle fetish thing?" and then remembered that that was "The Dream of the Fisherman's Wife".

Joel: HHHHHHHHHH
Pandemonium was one of my first ps1 games ever, I still remember a whole bunch of passwords
1:46:50
Clubhouse Games looks great.
All of this awesome video is just compounded by Joel's legitimate question on dialing hyphen
I love how joel left the "cum" text during the beat 2000 segment.
Also, joel accidentally wrote the evergrace ost when he did the classical music bit.
Trash quality games were so expensive in the 90s lol. I only had a handful of pc games as a little kid, half of them came from cereal boxes or the scholastic book fares. I also had this werid probably bootleg sailor moon colouring paint game on a floppy, which I can't find anywhere on the internet.
I like *PISSFUNNY* better than *FECALFUNNY* . Thanks.
Edit: 1:47:09
Bruh.. Pandemonium. A game I fuckin' raged at as a babey that I never thought I'd see again.
That Helious included backstory/creepypasta was actually pretty cool and well writen lol, would have creeped me out as a kid.

Whoa. Joel played Helious?
Well, it's like I always say- when you're talking about Vinesauce, you can't assume anything.
It seems you’ve made a cross-channel reference. Now things are beginning to make sense. More later.
3 hours of Joel... Brace yourselves, it's gonna be a long night.

I remember someone actually made a creepy pasta about Helius a long time ago.
he literally read it in the video mate
Ah... I remember playing Captain Comic and Pandemonium! ... good times
Ken's Labyrinth? Sorry, but Ken looks almost nothing like he was in Street Fighter...
37:21 This is a great proof for the argument I make that Joel has an absolutely terrible sense of music and cannot recognise sounds properly.
Joel played Helious?!
I didn't know that Big Joel was featured in this video, does he know?
