I was originally going to replace the valve seals but after watching this video: th-cam.com/video/F994QmOD6W8/w-d-xo.html I don't think replacing the valve seals will help with the oil consumption issue.
best auto repair videos on youtube IMO, highlight components, explanation, thorough work, clear concise...keep up the good work and you'll get more subs eventually, cant believe you're numbers are as low as they are, seriously I think these are the best DIY auto videos on this thing, glad we have some of the same vehicles.
Thanks for the comments, they are greatly appreciated. I think many people are looking for exciting, entertaining, fun repair videos. I don't make those type of videos.
Nice, thorough video. I really like that you highlight the components. Two questions: 1) Why did you replace it? 2) Did you have to drain the oil or coolant first?
Thanks for the comments. To answer your questions - 1)I have a rattle that occurs when I first start the vehicle and then goes away after 2 seconds. I had also read that there was a plastic manufacturing error on some of these original manifolds causing some of the plastic to separate internally which cause it to rattle. Thinking that replacing it may solve my problem, I replaced it. It did not solve that problem. 2)I did not drain any oil or coolant. However, when you remove the two water bypass hoses from the throttle body, there will be a little coolant that will dump onto the ground.
i have a 2004 camry le and its overheating every 15mins i drive i have a small leak coming from the bottom of the manifold i'm wondering what can i do i need help
For the overheating, I would first check your coolant level. It could also be a stuck thermostat. As for the leak, I would assume the seal/mating surfaces have been compromised and might need to be cleaned/replaced.
About how long can you expect this job to take? Not needing to replace the entire manifold but just the gasket wondering how much time I should set aside for it
You can buy the gasket separately. I suspected my manifold was failing as there is a rattle at startup and I had read online there may have been a manufacturing problem with the plastic mold for the original manifolds. Thus, I replaced the entire manifold and it still rattled at startup.
Many times the P0171 error code relates to the Mass Air Flow sensor th-cam.com/video/Ma67aYgACrQ/w-d-xo.html or sometimes it is related to the PCV line or valve th-cam.com/video/f8imD2e0yRo/w-d-xo.html
@@InsaneOil As right now. I have no time to replace it yet. So busy and lot of OT lately. But one thing I just do not understand. Everytime driven through uphill. The CEL popped on. On the street or even surface HWY. it never pops on. But overall it performs well. May replace it over the long holiday weekend.
Very clear video. I''m going to follow this video to replace the intake manifold gasket and check all intake lines and fittings along the way. My engine is running lean and triggering the check engine light (P0171). Let me know if you have any thoughts.
Thanks for the comments. You may have already watched this one but here is a good video that elaborates on the troubleshooting of a P0171 code. th-cam.com/video/gpstVT3goxM/w-d-xo.html
A new manifold gasket and throttle body (caged) gasket have been installed. No check engine light after two local drives. I will be taking a three hour interstate drive tomorrow for the real test. If the engine light pops back on, then I'll clean the MAFS and check out your video for other ideas. Thanks!
Ugh. Check engine light popped back on. I then cleaned the MAFS, and after about 20 minutes of driving, the light popped in again. I guess I'm checking fuel pressure next although I did notice an internal tear in the main intake hose. It doesn't appear to be in a position to allow air in, but I'll investigate further.

Awesome video. I’m gonna be replacing mine on my 2003 Camry next week. My flapper’s are making noise.
Thanks for the comment. How did the repair go?
You’ve helped me out so much. Thank you. Will watch every Camry video

I would give yourself at least 1/2 a day, or perhaps 1 day if you run into problems.
So do we have to change the whole manifold or how do we replace just the gasket

my kid's 2003 Camry XLE got a P0171. I might check and see is the intake manifold gasket need to replace or not. Thanks for all the step.

Mass airflow dirty or needs replacement start from there

Could a bad gasket cause a coolant leak?
In general, yes it is possible...but not on the intake manifold.
Hello sir amazing video but I won’t lie I think I missed a step I have a dangling wire n would love some advice
What does the wire look like? Upload some photos to Google drive and email me the link. Info@insaneoil.com
Just sent the email thanks man
