Over 300,000Km on my 2007 and never had these issues pointed out in this video. Great reliable car it’s been. Only “major” was two alternator change which can fail since it’s sort of a consumable part.

Buy parts on 1A auto at your own risk. You've been warned. Their return policy states they won't refund any parts installed. So if they sell you junk, and in my experience that's what you'll get, you're stuck with them replacing the junk with more junk. No refunds. You're better off buying parts elsewhere. Great videos though!

2:25 that specific engine from Toyota is known to have excessive oil consumption. My Scion TC has that infamous 2AZFE engine as well. According to Scotty Kilmer it was just a design flaw. The block was made of aluminum and the cylinder liners are made of cast iron. So not it’s the just the piston rings itself. The piston rings do play a big role.

On the topic of Camry in general, I have a 2007 Camry XLE v6 (not the oil burner). I decided to keep it even after getting my 2023 Highlander. I absolutely the love the car and my mechanics are amazed how well-conditioned it is. I still take it on semi-long trips with no worries, and it drives as good as the day I got it new in late 2006. It has the power to conquer hills, and I love taking it in the mountains as it takes the steep inclines and tight curves with ease. The Camry is by far the best car I have ever owned and I still plan to drive it as long as it doesnt give me any major issues.
For the interior, I did have the melting dashboard issue that I overlooked for years. I finally put a well-manufactured, custom-made dashboard cover on it that fits snug and uniformly, not one of those cheap Amazon eye-sore dash covers that looks like my grandma's 1970's style living room carpet. I also put custom seat covers over the original leather seating to cover any minor blemishes and give it a more modern look/feel.

Being that I have this car, I can say that these are almost the only problems that the have! I had the mounts replaced, and it does consume alot of oil, but it is the best car that I've ever owned! I have a 2007. I was thinking of getting a ES or GS 350 lexus as an upgrade, but to tell you the truth, I'm also thinking of getting the last of the 6 generation camry with low miles! Used of course. The reason is because, it's an awesome car! The trunk and the hood latch also will eventually have problems also. Nothing but Lexus or a toyota cam in my future!

My understanding is, the excessive oil consumption, is due to low tension piston rings. Class action suit in the US provided that Toyota replace the piston rings for free, which cleared up the issue. Unfortunately here in Canada, Toyota will not replace them for free.

Inherited one of these at 60k with no oil burning issues as of yet. My grandad bought it for my mom new and he was pretty religious with regular maintence. It’s going to my youngest daughter after doing a bunch of recommended services at 60k like all the brakes, hoses and serpentine belt. Good first car for a newbie. After a nightmare of a time with some newer mopar cars (mostly electrical issues) I’ve switched to Toyota with all my future vehicles.
I also have an 08 Solara convertible that is in great shape and a blast to drive. Looking to get a 2011 Lexus IS 350c I’ve been keeping an eye on at a local dealer. Want a real wheel drive coupe to play with.

All facts and don’t forget the Toyota had a piston ring problem too a lot of recalls on the 07-11 Camry. Thank God I didn’t have that problem

Helpful, but might want to mention there's more than one engine in this generation. Theres a 3.5 liter v6 as well as the 2010 and 2011 have the 2.5liter 2arfe engine instead of that 2.4 you're talking about. I have a 2011 with the 2.5 liter and it's hard to get info on it. I do hear relatively good things with the engine though.

I have the 2011 manual version. Only problem it has is that it occasionally turns off while in neutral or going into neutral. Its driving me crazy thats its only random when it shuts off in neutral. This is the 4 cylinder btw

Camry OEM parts are legendary except for the warped front rotors. Both of mine V6 Camrys' purchased new have warped rotors. Good aftermarket were much better, so far so good. Otherwise very reliable, although the one from Japan were better. Don't trust the 100,000 mile no transmission oil change, no dipstick to check. Drop oil pan with new transmission filter at 50K to play it safe. Let's say the new Camrys' are less reliable and more expensive to fix. Changing a $50 module could cost $2,000 or more.

Oil consumption issue ts only for the 07-09 2.4L 4 cylinders. The 10 and 11 2.5L 4 cylinders are fine.

07-09 Camry had the 2AZ-FE engine. 10-11 Camry had the 2AR-FE engine. The oil consumption was fixed when Toyota engineered the 2AR-FE my 2007 Toyota Camry 2AZ-FE 2.4L 4cyl 5 Speed Manual Transmission doesn't burn oil it has 282,000kms i do my oil changes every 3,000kms.

+@nightfangs2910 We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c

2.4 litre ie the 2az fe engine is a failure. It aimed to replace the 5sfe which is a very strong and reliable inline 4cyl engine made by Toyota but the 2.4 suffered from excessive oil consumption, head bolts were reported to wear out and cause coolant leakage which would lead to overheating. My dad used to have one, he checked the oil after a pretty long time and there was fuck all in there. Do yourself a favour and stay away from this engine I'd say. If you wanna Camry get an older one with either the 5sfe or the 1mz fe engine they last for ever, the newer ones are probably a pretty safe bet as well but the 2az fe is a pile of shit

there is one other problem these cars have and I just can't figure it out?? HIGH BEAM / DAY TIME DRIVING LIGHTS?? They went out last year and have taken it to several mechnics and they just coudln't figure out the issue?? Checked all the fuses and relays and they are all in working order?? But when testing tom see if any power was going to and thru the fuses for the hhigh beams...not much was?? Can anyone tell me IF they had this issue and what was the problem and how was it fixed?? Oh and yes the bulbs are new and still no high beams or day time driving lights.

    On the oil,
That's the oil consumption???!! I am like Scotty, I don't trust long interval, so 3k is good for me.
Please verify this for me. Is that the oil consumption problem people are having because it goes 10k before changing and the piston rings are not the best?
