Just so you guys know. "Don't you think she looks tired" are the 6 words that are rumoured to have started the downfall of PM Margaret Thatcher in England.
@@archive9796 As if Theresa May is in any way comparable to Thatcher other than gender and party. May would probably hand over the Falklands and try to make a deal to have the handover as beneficial to Argentina as possible
The first season was done on a limited budget. When it became successful at the end of one, they gave more budget. When the next Doctor comes along, the production amps up like crazy.
@@Dark-uw6vm And in my opinion it's lost all it's character. Doctor Who isn't supposed to have the cinematography of a hollywood movie. Not to mention the new doctor is shit lol
I thought this episode did an excellent job of putting Rose and the audience in the same place. We're both experiencing this new version of the Doctor and figuring out what we think of him. Like Rose, a lot of viewers are experiencing a regeneration for the first time, and everyone can kind of go through it together. I know I'd been wary going into this episode because I'd been kind of thinking of regeneration as recasting, which typically had a negative connotation. Once I experienced it, however, I was immediately won over. Ten (David Tennant) would become my favourite Doctor.
Tennant is *my* Doctor. I saw Eccleston first, but Tennant is my favorite. I mean, come on, anyone who "accidentally" quotes the Lion King to an alien invader (which you cut out -- for shame!) immediately wins my heart.
0:42 I genuinely had to watch it again and again because I though you guys dubbed in Christopher Ecclestons voice so I almost hit the floor when I realised it was Calvin saying Fantastic. Spot on impression hahaha
"Did you miss me?" (Dang, yes. Every time. Oh, Harriet, you too. I missed you too.) By the way, I think RTD wrote Rose here in a way that reflected the audience -- meant to grieve (over Nine) first before getting to know Ten. What's also great about this Christmas Special is, it establishes the Tenth Doctor as someone who uses words as a weapon more than anything else. (Wonderful to remember when you reach a certain episode in Series 4) Sycorax is also a witch from Shakespeare (The Tempest) I remember the behind-the-scenes video from Doctor Who Confidential -- David Tennant was described how hard it was for the actor playing the Sycorax leader -- the face mask was pretty thick. They had to consider him too. ...it was Sean Gilder, just watched Confidential again. Hot August day, 70 degrees, under layers of rubber. Lovely to go back to these...
**SPOILER ALERT** Eric: "Do you think this is the season where Rose and The Doctor finally hook up?" Me: Oh Eric. You poor, poor soul. You have no idea what's coming **Flashbacks to Doomsday**
Gibbzee no they do now. It's their new tier on patreon, they just announced it the other day. You can see their full reaction but the video of the show will not be showed on the screen due to copyright
Wait people don't know about that? I thought that was just common knowledge but I could be wrong...also I know I'm three years late but also I don't care
If you thought Tennant's acting in the intro was a bit odd, there was a short pre-episode called Born Again, that showed the first proper exchange of chemistry between Tennant and Piper, basically she refuses to believe he's still the Doctor because of his change in appearance, and he offers to take her home. However, as you saw in this episode, the regeneration takes too long and he goes berserk, speeding up the TARDIS, creating the conditions for a crash landing, and then you're set for The Christmas Invasion. Just thought I'd clear that up for people who've got no idea why the TARDIS crash landed.
The "Don't you think she looks tired?" is apparently a reference to how Margaret Thatcher first had her competency questioned when she was Prime Minister of the UK :)
Even if you don't watch any other minisodes, I would call Night of the Doctor essential viewing because it IS important to the plot at that point in the series. Night of the Doctor is set just before Day of the Doctor.
CHRISTMAS HAS COME EARLY! I remember watching this episode with some worry, because I adored Christopher Ecclestone, and I wasn't at all sure what I was going to think about this new Doctor. Safe to say, he had me smiling and laughing and cheering him on by the end of it. I'm glad Eric and Shane seems to be enjoying him a lot too, even though we're just one episode in. Since the later third of it or so is literally the Doctor exploring what kind of person he is, it really does very well in establishing his character, both the good and the bad, and the light and the dark so to say. I've gone back and forth on the Harriet Jones thing, and while I don't agree with her actions, I always thought the Doctor was harsh in that scene. He's terrifying when he's angry. But yeah, really enjoyed this reaction, lots of laughs at the reactions as well as at the show. There's definitely a lot of improved production values to come, even though that's never a first priority with Doctor Who. I hope they realized at some point that Eric last week quoted the Doctor in this episode by singing The Lion King. ERIC IS SECRETLY A TIME TRAVELLER GUYS. #BlindWaveConspiracy (Is the Wave Cave actually a TARDIS?) Anyway, glad you're all excited about this series to come. I am too. Also Eric's deadpan expression at "Do you think this is the season where they finally hook up?" made me laugh more than it probably should have. And then the mom comment broke me again. These discussions always manage to be the perfect blend of interesting, ridiculous and hilarious. Oh, and Lono, the effects on Aaron were amazing. Great job! :D About the minisodes - yeah, I think you can make it through without watching them, but some of them add some really nice story touches and fills in holes (like The Night of the Doctor) and some are just really funny (Time Crash comes to mind). So if you ever had time, you could take a look at them. That being said, of course they mostly can't be watched out of order. Wouldn't do to watch The Night of the Doctor before the end of s7, or Time Crash before s3. But oh well. You decide on if you want to do any of them, and as for guides, you've got Lono for that. :) Can't wait for next week, and see where we go as we continue with this New series. :P
When the doctor presses the button and explains no-one dies because hypnotism can't force people to do anything they really don't want to do, I'm imagining a few suicidal people actually walking off the edge, because suicide is something some people may do.
The Time-Lord is semi-psychic & familiar with psychic tech (hence the psychic paper)... when he said "Doesn't she look tired?" he send a psychic impression outwards. It's like a massive Jedi mind trick. It's a very weak thing but enough to do the damage he wants.
I’ve watched several reactions of this episode. And was just waiting for someone to say “oh shit we’re a Death Star”. You guys are the first. Congratulations.
Imagine if we didn't see the Doctor regenerate into David and the first glimpse we see of him is coming out and fainting and then Jackie says "What do you mean he's the doctor? Doctor Who?" I think that would've been FANTASTIC.
Its unforgivable that they never brought the Sycorax back. Their culture is so interesting and there's so much that could be done with them. Have the Doctor come across a slave and he has to protect him from the Sycorax. Or how about something like Gladiator where the Doctor ends up being forced into gladiatorial combat for the Sycorax amusement. The Sycorax along with the Krillitanes two villains that needed to return but didn't.
Torchwood was also the BBC codeword for the Dr. Who reboot when they were working on it in secret before the public knew. "Torchwood" is an anagram of "Doctor Who".
That “Doctor Who?!” line makes no sense whatsoever. She knows Rose is talking about THE Doctor, and she knows that he is known as just ‘The Doctor’. It’s not like she hasn’t met him before 😂

When I rewatch these Doctor Who episodes reactions of Blind Wave, I can't help but think of watching Eric and Aaron doing The Flash reactions, with Aaron wearing Doctor Who shirts and Eric scoffing at them. Then, Eric watched this brilliant show and scoffed no more.😘
When new Who debuted in 2005, it had been 17 years since the original show got cancelled, and the 1996 attempt to revive it had failed. The BBC didn't have a ton of confidence in this new attempt to bring it back, so they hedged their bets with a low budget. The success of the first series was such that the BBC no longer felt any need to hedge, so the show's production quality improved dramatically starting with this Christmas special.
The only mini episode you have to definitely watch and react to is "The Night Of The Doctor", which comes in between end of Season 7 and the 50th Anniversary "Day of the Doctor". This mini episode has important details in it, plus it is better than some full episodes.
either it's the true first episode of the second season of the revival, the 13th episode of the first season,or its not an episode under any season like the waters of mars.
21:27 DW shoots last way longer than a week. I think they take about 9 months for 13 eps plus xmas special. They even had seasons with doctor lite eps, because of the busy schedule.
I'm really disappointed that you guys didn't watch the "born again" special first. You easily could've put it at the beginning of this video. It's funny, serves as a direct bridge from where we left off, and it illustrates just how difficult it was for Rose to get used to the tenth doctor.
well before doctor said "Dosen't she look tired to you" he took the ear piece off the guy and handed to him.. Doctor prolly turned it on and anyone listening prolly heard what Doctor said so it helped to spread the word out

Karto1989 They'll most likely watch Day and Time
You’re Americans so I didn’t expect you to get the reference but “don’t you think she looks tired” were the words that took down Margret Thatcher, in a straw that broke the camels back kind of way.
about time you guys did this episode, one of my favourite ones ever good choice
God damn, I wish we had 2 eps per week! This was fun and I'm so hyped for them to get into the Tennant era.
When I rewatch these Doctor Who episodes reactions of Blind Wave, I can't help but think of watching Eric and Aaron doing The Flash reactions, with Aaron wearing Doctor Who shirts and Eric scoffing at them. Then, Eric watched this brilliant show and scoffed no more.😘
Aaron really likes telling them they sometimes have a few years break between seasons and still have a christmas specials.
"Don't you think she looks tired" supposedly marked the beginning of the end for Margret Thatcher. It is also wrong.
When new Who debuted in 2005, it had been 17 years since the original show got cancelled, and the 1996 attempt to revive it had failed. The BBC didn't have a ton of confidence in this new attempt to bring it back, so they hedged their bets with a low budget.
The success of the first series was such that the BBC no longer felt any need to hedge, so the show's production quality improved dramatically starting with this Christmas special.
oh god, they're going to have to watch Love & Monsters
Fun fact, this episode was written as though the 9th doctor would be doing it so that people would like tenant in his first episode.
Please tell me you're going to start watching them more often. This is fast becoming my favourite reaction series.
The only mini episode you have to definitely watch and react to is "The Night Of The Doctor", which comes in between end of Season 7 and the 50th Anniversary "Day of the Doctor". This mini episode has important details in it, plus it is better than some full episodes.
Calvin does that impression really well.
we told them so many times to watch the charity video clip on TH-cam and they didn't 😭 regeneration scenes are always so fun I blame the BBC
SuperBlueboy2010 they've watched it now you'll see it next week along with episode 1
either it's the true first episode of the second season of the revival, the 13th episode of the first season,or its not an episode under any season like the waters of mars.
21:27 DW shoots last way longer than a week. I think they take about 9 months for 13 eps plus xmas special. They even had seasons with doctor lite eps, because of the busy schedule.
I am really enjoying your reactions (and your channel in general). Looking forward to seeing you guys react to the shows yet to come. 👍
I'm really disappointed that you guys didn't watch the "born again" special first. You easily could've put it at the beginning of this video. It's funny, serves as a direct bridge from where we left off, and it illustrates just how difficult it was for Rose to get used to the tenth doctor.
Aaron, when the time comes, definitely show the guys Timecrash.
If it helps for Torchwood. It goes like this.
1x13 of Torchwood ends as 3x11 of Doctor Who begins.
the only side vids you need to watch are the day of the doctor TH-cam vids. wont have to worry about that for like 3 years at this rate lol
Ah you skipped Lion King bit. You were talking about that on last episode i thought you would show that on this one.
In this episode, Tennant is unconscious, yet he changes from his 9 outfit into pajamas. Who do you think changed his clothes?
I've been waiting for them to react to the 10th doctor. he's been my favourite from the new series
well before doctor said "Dosen't she look tired to you" he took the ear piece off the guy and handed to him.. Doctor prolly turned it on and anyone listening prolly heard what Doctor said so it helped to spread the word out
