he didn't make her, she finally turned around and chose to see herself in her prime before dying. to remember what she used to be, not what she became. and you see younger Cassandra is more compassionate, she held a strange man in her arms as they died. idk, i always found it poetic.
Fun fact: They actually planned to have The Face of Boe die this episode, but decided that it'd be too dark to have two recurring characters die in the same episode.
A "chav" is the London name for young people with cheap clothes who go about committing crimes. This is blatant oversimplification, but in broad strokes, that's it.
Yeah. I thought she looked familiar the very first time I saw this ep and found out it was definitely her. Knowing how big of a fan Eric is, I was surprised.
The way the Doc cures everyone so _easily_ is the biggest issue with this episode, in my opinion. The rest of it is pretty strong, though. The actors are clearly having a lot of fun playing Cassandra.
I really hope that is not the reason why that part is not in this reaction. I know that they are only allowed 10 minutes of footage and so I know they can't show everything. but if they are purposely not showing some of the best parts* just so we will buy the full episode access, that would be very disappointing. *Of course, it's debatable what the best parts are. ( Personally I just really like the David as Cassandra part and the Lion King part last week, so I was sad to not see it in the reactions ) To be absolutely clear: I'm not saying that this is the reason those parts were not in the reactions. Could be lots of different reasons.
We have ALWAYS had things people wanted to see but was not able to make the cut. Things have to be cut in all of our reactions. The first things to get cut is us just listening and staring at the show. Then we have to make decisions on what is the best things to keep. We do not expect anyone to pledge $10 on patreon. But for the ones that do we have a bonus so they get something. We had several people who already pledged more than the $5 early access. This way they get a bonus as well. We are not purposefully holding back anything. Things just have to be cut...
I just can't wait for the Impossible Planet two parter. Easily my favourite Doctor Who episodes, such a unique feel and tone to them. And the music? Holy shit.
The actress playing Cassandra -- both voice and in full body -- is Zoe Wannamaker. She played Madame Hooch, the flying instructor in the first Harry Potter movie.
That's not true, the writers said that the first thing they think someone who hadn't had a physical body in years would want to do would be to kiss someone, so that's why. It was scripted. Why make bs up?
I envy you guys, you've so much epic stuff coming up. My own opinion is that Doctor who started off well, and just got better and better and better with a few small dips here and there. But what I'd give to re-experience it all again from the start :')
Sure you guys know, but when Russell T Davies was writing the relaunch of Doctor Who, he wanted kept secret so used the anagram Torchwood to hide the DW scripts. Then couldn't resist creating the series Torchwood after the the return of who was so well received.
Just for reference for the non-British... "The Oxford English Dictionary defines chav as an informal British derogatory, meaning "a young lower-class person who displays brash and loutish behaviour and wears real or imitation designer clothes".
JojoInSpace *moisturizes Lono* Ah, New Earth! With New New York. Been a while since I watched this. It's a mostly comedic episode definitely, to get back into the groove of things with a new Doctor but a familiar foe, but it still manages to have a heart and some sad moments, like most Doctor Who. And indeed, as he himself said, textbook enigmatic comments from the Face of Boe. Whatever could it mean... (and the channel said that the face of boe was pregnant again, not only that he had a child). I do like the bodyswapping in this episode, even though the logic behind it isn't explained (I mean, that's just a thing with Doctor Who. Some things you just roll with). I found it funny to see both Billie Piper and David Tennant get to play with that and acting, well, not like their characters. And as Eric said... There might be some feelings here. WHO KNOWS? But yeah. Really like the make-up/masks on the cat people, I think those look great. I don't know why, but I love that design. Aaron and Calvin have impressive poker faces, just saying. The discussion was a lot of fun, and you guys are asking a lot of good questions. Not a lot to talk about for this one in particular, but still a fun go. Really looking forward to some upcoming episodes this series.
And to add, I really like the death of Lady Cassandra. Yeah, she was a silly villain, but I love that she in the end was able to go back to herself, as she was before she started picking away at all that she deemed imperfect about herself, and got to tell herself that she was beautiful back then. I like that. It's obvious and such, but I feel like it fitted well.
if they do react to Torchwood, The Sarah Jane Adventures and Class I hope they do it alongside doctor who so it wont take even longer. altho in torchwood they might have to do 2 eps a video towards the end of the first 2 series so the spinoffs end where they need to be for doctor who
In a Writers Podcast, Chris Chibnall said that RTD's philosophy is that if you have to cut something in the editing, you cut the explanation and keep the human element (e.g., cut the science and keep Rose and the Doctor eating chips) because he wants you to care about the characters.
Aaron says "ninja vanish', after the last face of Bo scene. It fits perfectly, knowing he knows who is the face of Bo, and with Eric, not knowing at that time (bc they both watch the Arrowverse shows together). It's like Aaron is giving a little hint. Bc he absolutely is a ninja/assassin.💙💜
"Oh my god! I'm A chav!" Blind wave crew do nothing while I laugh, "What's a chav? I don't know, a British thing?" "YOU GUYS DON'T HAVE CHAVS!?" I wen' ova to 'er 'ouse, shagged er like, then bam sheh spins round like luv I'm married! Like I give a shit right but then 'er fookin bloke swings over all hard right and fookin' has a go at me, when I din' even know till that mornin, like fook me hav ago at ya misses ya asswipe.)
i did think that they could get to season 8/9 by the time the next series airs...but at this rate i doubt it. they should do mini-episodes in the same video as the main reaction if nessecary. but considering there are ten seasons and a shit ton of specials to get through, we should get atleast a double episode a week. it just makes more sense and we wont run out of episodes quickly
The crew don't do 2 a week for anything anymore. They have a schedule to stick to and it would be unfair to have more than one episode a week for this because they would have to take another show away to make room for this. The crew don't care about catching up as fast as possible. They are enjoying it at the pace they are watching it.
This season, if I recall, can be looked at, after a certain point, as an "Are they or aren't they?" as much as a "Will they or won't they?" It reminds me a lot of _The Avengers_ during the Emma Peel seasons.
When you guys get around to the 50th anniversary, you really need to watch An Adventure in Space and Time! It's a neat drama about how the show was created.
doesn't matter she would have to do same actions she did in past to not cause a paradox, basically she would have to repeat everything she did up to this far or she didn't switch places.
Oooooshit I HAVE to be here when they react to weeping angels ep! and lol @ "what is a chav" like srsly did you not LOOK at how rose was dressed or with heavy makeup, big hoop earrings and common accent, especially her mum? looooool

I still love that shots of Rose in the desinfection. Nobody told Billie Piper about it. So all of her surprised reaction is completely natural.
Omg that's incredible!
A "chav" is the London name for young people with cheap clothes who go about committing crimes. This is blatant oversimplification, but in broad strokes, that's it.
I didn’t even realize they didn’t have the word chav in the US
Council House And Violent
@@captainbirch9835 you described another british slang word with another.
Hooligan is also british slang
@@captainbirch9835 Yeah, but the term comes from football hooligans, its also just a word that got out.

When the face of boe thing drops they're gonna scream 😂
When I first saw the face of boe reveal I was so shocked. It was such a good reveal.
Mostly because it was unexpected. Oh well. So much for that surprise.
We'll be waiting a while for the season 3 finale reveal.
I still cant believe Face of Boe is Captian Jack Harkness
I'm surprised Eric didn't realize Cassandra was played by the same actress that played Rolanda Hooch 'the flying broom teacher' from Harry Potter.
Yeah. I thought she looked familiar the very first time I saw this ep and found out it was definitely her. Knowing how big of a fan Eric is, I was surprised.
BiggySn1p3r aw man mind blown 🤣 I love Harry Potter and doctor who and I never realized that!
OH MY GOSH LOOK AT 2:19 ITS THE SAME AREA AS THE BIG "BAD WOLF" ON THE GROUND U CAN SEE IT FAIDED ON THE GROUND
I didn't see that until now
I actually really liked this episode, don't know why it gets criticised so much.
Charizarzar it does?
Probably cous a episode about human experimentation is ...ignore for body swapping shenanigans
I like it too. I think it's because of Cassandra body swaping that was...strange.
It's an odd storyline but damn if it isn't fun seeing Billie and David act like her.
me i love this episode so much !
Eric's line to Billie Piper "Stay this way forever" xD
Ishkoten Casandra-Rose is awesome! I would have liked to see her as the S2 companion :p
The Doctor in a hospital curing people what a novel idea, it funny it took so long

Billie Piper being sassy makes everything awesome.
Can't wait to see Eric's reaction when he discover the truth about the Face of Boe.
The good captain?
Edit: wait, this was 5 years ago. Oh well

My only dislike of this reaction is we don't see the part where Cassandra first goes into The Doctor's body. Oh well, still fun times.

all of us can't wait for it!

Fun Fact: Rose kissing the Doctor wasn't originally in the script for this episode. Billy Piper just improvised and it stuck.
That's not true, the writers said that the first thing they think someone who hadn't had a physical body in years would want to do would be to kiss someone, so that's why. It was scripted. Why make bs up?
Apparently 'The End of the World' is set in the year 5,000,000,000 and this is set in the year 5,000,000,023.
Jack's Torchwood is in the same era, except it's not in London - it's in Cardiff.
Dammit we didn't see their reaction to the 'Goodness me, I'm a man!' And all that followed.
Was really looking forward to that..
Cassandra-Rose is such a delight to watch, Billie Piper really hams it up in this one lol
