    As a forty plus year Striper fisherman these are days you celebrate never mind those droughts that you went thru past month we sometimes would be only boat around anywhere fishing can be fast and furious great video oh back in day I started with a Lowrance paper graph one of best graphs in day.

    • @BooneBoys
      @BooneBoys  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When I was a kid, we would use a graph that nobody knew how to use, and it was the size of the common smartphone. It was so small and showed a picture of a fish icon, which would be enough for us to stop and throw out the anchor. Could’ve been a large shad or interference but we couldn’t tell the difference. As a kid i fished with an older gentleman who has now passed, and he used a vexilar and I was so confused by it. We smoked the fish slabbing, and still today it was the best slabbing day I’ve ever had.

    I just discovered your videos and have been enjoying them so much and became a subscriber. Love the enthusiasm on your boat. I hope you see this comment because I need some advice. I loved to go fishing with my Dad (I'm from Canada) growing up but then married a Texas nonfisherman and hadn't been fishing for 40 years. My son finally became interested in fishing and asked if we wanted to go in halfsies on a boat with him. I said absolutely. So as 69 1/2 years old grandmothers, I finally got to go fishing again. I make them take me out once a week to every ten days. We have only been fishing in Lake Ray Roberts so far for sandies (got catching them down now), catfish, and crappie. Lake Texoma is very close to us too. After watching your videos, we really want to try for striper on Texoma, and I'm in the process of buying poles, reels, and line for that. Everyone on TH-cam wants you to buy $250 reels. Do you really need something that expensive? What would you recommend?

    • @BooneBoys
      @BooneBoys  ปีที่แล้ว

      @Mary Anne Feucht. Great decision on the boat! Thanks a lot for watching our videos & Glad you found us. To answer your question, no you don’t need super expensive poles and reels. Handso down get the Ugly Stik Striper rod. They are amazing and cost $59. For bait at reels get a 400 size. I got all my reels off eBay. They are the high end Calcutta 400 but you can find the Corsair for $30-$40 and you can’t go wrong if you aren’t fishing every day. Just don’t go cheap on bait tank and grab you a splasher and thumper. Good luck!

    • @maryannefeucht4125
      @maryannefeucht4125 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BooneBoys Thank you for the quick reply. We already have a thumper and splasher. Make so much difference. One more question, please. I am trying to find 1 1/2 ounce jig heads in the colors you have but are having a hard time finding them. There are hardly any in that size. Where did you get yours?

    • @BooneBoys
      @BooneBoys  ปีที่แล้ว

    • @BooneBoys
      @BooneBoys  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Most of the time straight braid. You really need to feel the light bite. Most of the time they will spit it out if you don’t set the hook. We do have a flouro pole just in case we are struggling and want to eliminate all variables. But we don’t see any difference between mono and braid as far as bites, EXCEPT if you use a bright braid. We saw that last year on Texoma a big difference.
