James, you are right, I’m not finding them before I start fishing, I sure appreciate you showing us how you do it, I couldn’t imagine how much more work it is for you, and responding back to our comments, you’re the man, thanks
Went fishing at lake texhoma state park, back in the nineties, a guide named Bob Claunch , took us out , to big goggles and little goggles and we slayed the stripers and sand bass , it was awesome
Awesome job! We just fished Texoma Sunday. The water temp had dropped pretty good a few days prior, but we managed to get 10 on live bait and flukes. Fish on boys!!
Congrats James on your PB Striper! On our last trip (last Friday) the wind was blowing so hard the spot lock could hold us...the boat kept doing circles. We are going this Thursday and the wind is supposed to be less than 10mph... Super cool seeing those boys hammering the fish! Congrats on a great trip!
Oh, looks like winter is over here in SE Texas! Looks like we fished the last cold day of the winter of 2022/2023... Highs in the 80's for a couple days this week and a couple days next week!
Thanks Charles! On those windy days like that the only way to fish are with wind socks. We’ve got multiple 72” socks and a 48”. Every boat is different though on how big of sock you’ll need. Good luck Thursday! Let us know how you do.
@@BooneBoys Looks like I need to start looking into a shad tank now. It would be nice to be able to use the live well on my boat. I can recirculating lake water through it, but it's rectangular with rounded corners. It's big, but I know everyone wants round tanks for shad.
What a great trip you guys had, the last couple of trips at my secret little lake has been tough fishing, fishing for hybrids, I have only been using my thumper, do you think your splashed really works in that deep water, I have one, but not using it, maybe that’s my problem, it’s really been hard to even see them on my Humminbird. I have fished Texoma, great fishing.
@Michael Teague most likely if your not seeing them in graph they’ve disappeared. Not sure why this happens, but at given times of the year it’s like they are impossible to find. Normally it’s a pattern at that time of the year every year.
But to answer the question on the splasher, I think you should always use it no matter the depth. However the thumper is far more important in the winter in deeper water. On this trip, the thumper was turning off and fish would disappear during that time. Turn it on and they would reappear.
Thanks I appreciate it. So we typically use 4/0 hooks and 1-1.5oz heads. I wish somebody could make me a 2oz and 2.5oz head with a 4/0 hook. Problem now is that I can only find 2oz in 5/0 hooks and those are a little bit big when you are in smaller groups of fish, they miss the bait more than the 4/0 hooks. 1 and 1.5oz is just fine except on those windy days where your drifting .7-.8mph
Sometimes it’s an early morning bite or late evening. Sometimes it’s all day bite. In winter, generally they are in the deepest part of that area of the lake. One you find them, sometimes small schools drift and let the thumper keep them with you during drift. Most of the time I find them with sonar, and some of the time it’s with sidescan. If they are hugging the bottom, with my sidescan, it’s hard to see them, but if they are suspended pretty much most sidescans will see them easily.
Yes. Leaving it completely still. Where the name deastick comes from. You can catch them with no movement, but typically it’s .4-.7mph drift or moving with trolling motor.
I have a bass boat similar to yours. I want to go to texoma this spring but i was a little worried about the lake being to choppy. You dont have any issues out there?
It can be a really rough lake, but you might pick your spot where there is less wind if it’s a really windy day. There are plenty of bass boats that fish the lake.
Fished it last year. We didn’t do that well. We caught only small walleye. I’m hoping we can get a kid or 2 on those lifetime fishing licenses at kids fishing derby next year.
I can only afford to by one right now. Which would you recommend to start with? Thumper or sSlasher. Fishing for both hybrids & Stripers less than 50 ‘ of water.
Texoma has striped bass and white bass but no hybrid bass. Some striped bass have broken lines and look like hybrid bass from the stripes. The lines can full a person. I’ve caught hybrid bass with nearly no line breaks as well.
So all you did was find fish, then drop the jig head down to the bottom, reel up twice and let the boat drift? Do you hold the pole still or are you jigging it up and down? I live on texoma and I’m just trying to catch something
Thanks for letting that biggin go..I have released a lot of 14 to 16 pound fish and there is nothing better than watching them swim back to the deep.
These fish with long life spans it’s a good thing to let bigger ones swim on.
Congrats on your personal best striper, glad to see you having great success using my splasher prop!
Splasher prop has served us well, thanks!
Holy cow what a fish!!
Thanks Heath. The bigger stripers seem to have always alluded me.
Glad to see another great video from you guys . Texoma can make you or break you...glad to see you conquered. Some really nice fish y'all caught.
Thanks Larry. Texoma is huge. And it’s even bigger when you can’t find the fish! Feels like a pond or the ocean.
Your videos keep getting better and better
Thanks William! Your comment means a lot.

We get a lot of value out of helping out others catch more fish. So glad we can help out.
Went fishing at lake texhoma state park, back in the nineties, a guide named Bob Claunch , took us out , to big goggles and little goggles and we slayed the stripers and sand bass , it was awesome
It’s still a solid lake, one of the best fisheries around.
Love watching y’all fish. So much excitement!!! I can feel the love for fishing !! Very informative!! Thanks a lot.
Thanks Dale! Your comment means a lot hope our videos help you out.
Best Striper TH-cam so far!!
@joeschmoe1301 let’s go!! Thanks for the compliment.
Incredible! Love watching your videos- keep catching them! You have inspired me to clean the boat off .. sill cold in WV but now I’m ready
@Bradley Dodrill thanks! I played minor league ball in WV but never got the chance to fish there. Thanks for watching!
This is an awesome video
Thanks!

Nice work. Thanks for the comment. We were out there Sunday as well and for us the bite was more from 11-3pm
WOW!!! That looked like a fun day! I went there last weekend but only caught 2 on my yak. Looking forward to going there and try again.
Great fishery. Once you figure them out, might not be a better lake in Oklahoma.
Great video!!! Someday I hope to get on them like y’all do!
Thanks Brad. I hope our videos help you do it!
I have camped a caney creek before. It’s a great place to stay. Did you have to make reservation this time of year?
Awesome boys trips, appreciate the content!
You’re welcome. Thanks for watching!
What a fantastic day!… 31”er..Booooom!
@Lure Up thanks! I couldn’t hold back the excitement.
Love your videos! Keep it up! Hopefully we get to see y’all on Texoma one day!
Thanks! Hope to see you out there too.
I was on Keystone last Saturday. Marked fish everywhere but nothing would bite
@VitaminD those are the worst days. It’s like a basspro tank’s bluegill swimming in front of a bass or catfish and doesn’t go after it.
Leaving for Texoma today. Wish us luck, we don't have a thumper so hopefully we'll still do well.
I haven’t been yet this winter but I’ve heard deadstick bite is on. Good luck! And let us know how you do.
awesome!!
Thanks!

I can hear the thumper in the background. Cool
Gotta have it in the winter.
Nice job l love watching you guys catching hybrid and striper great family time what part of texoma are you guys on
Thanks Johnnie. Soldier creek and Caney Creek in open water.

any tips on how to find them? or is it just by chance that you roll over a school?
Sometimes it’s an early morning bite or late evening. Sometimes it’s all day bite. In winter, generally they are in the deepest part of that area of the lake. Can you explain what you’re doing. Are you letting the lure get to the bottom and just trolling slowly?

You ever fish the Canton Walleye Rodeo?
Fished it last year. We didn’t do that well. We caught only small walleye. I’m hoping we can get a kid or 2 on those lifetime fishing licenses at kids fishing derby next year.
@@BooneBoys I was hoping for that for my boys a few years ago too. I really want to make it out there this next year.
Are you using both a thumper and a splasher?
Yes. It’s more important to use thumper in the winter, but I use them both in the winter and pretty much only splasher in summer.

That’s literally all you do. Deadstick fishing is best fishing time of year. It’s only from around Nov-Feb. water temp needs to be below 55
You don’t want to move it. Leave it as still as possible. If it’s really windy compensate for the boat movement trying to keep it still.
