Great vid. You guys caught some nice ones! Just picked up a trolling motor yesterday for a splasher. Did you heat & bend your prop or did you just buy a splasher prop.
We bought a splasher prop. Ive been around some people that bent the props, but I couldn’t really say if it works or doesn’t. What I can say is that they do sound different than ours. I actually run mine in reverse because I think it sounds better and we catch fish. Not sure if it makes a ton of difference. I bought mine for $50 from a taxidermist in Tx. I can’t even find his information anymore.
@KingFisher X yes you can catch plenty of fish without thumper or splasher in winter. There is a lot less spot lock during Deadsticking, and more moving over groups. BUT it definitely helps, that’s why we always are running one or the other or both. If you don’t have either you can still get on and catch fish.
@@bradgreening3564 below is what I bought. It’s been really good so far. Only issue I’ve had is that I sometimes can’t connect it through wifi/Bluetooth on phone. It might be because I keep it in the very back of the boat and put padding around it, Not sure if connection is because of that or the unit itself. I’m thinking it’s not the unit. However I’ve been pleased with it. thumponator.com
Depends on water temp, but most of the time look off points going onto flats. Sometimes they will really be spread out on flats. Very rarely we catch them right on a drop off. So don’t be afraid to go where you think is no man’s land. But zig zag from deepest part of the lake to shallower to see if you can see a depth that is best. Don’t get fixated on one depth especially on new Lake. If water temp is in 60’s I’ve seen them in 8-12’ and deeper. When temps get in 50’s and lower most bait will go deep and you’ll rarely fish below 20’.
@@BooneBoys thanks, I ordered both 1oz and 1½oz chartreuse heads. Free shipping should be here in time for next week! Jumped on Amazon and picked up a couple packs of flukes too. Might hit the lake tomorrow! The water temp is still 58 degrees but you can't catch'm from the living room couch! We are getting a little cooler weather maybe the water will get down cool enough for deadsticking...
Also I came across Bulldog-Baits they have 2oz heads I tried out my last trip. They seem to be as good as the shad heads off eBay. The eyes are different. I’ll see how they hold up and eyes work. I’m like idea of changing eyes out with the flat jig head instead of the recessed. Anyhow another option.
Awesome action! Like the way you edit. Great boat setup, splashed, thumper, and graphs. Many congrats on the epic trip. Now someone spell Fooosh for me.
@RickyHuff thanks a lot for checking us out! It’s amazing how many things you “need” to fish. I can only imagine what’s always going through my wife’s head.
Thanks. For what we do we don’t use the talon a lot. We don’t ever beach it and put it down to anchor us. Sometimes we catfish in shallow water and put it down. It gets used the most to hold on to go to the bathroom. I’d probably take the extra money and get other electronics.
Because you pretty much keep the bait dead still. Fish sometimes this time of year don’t want up and down, it will actually cost you fish, but moving boat .2-.7mph and keep it dead flat is technique that works in winter.
Hybrid bass have a short life span. It’s use them or lose them. We give them to families that really need the food. Striped bass from our local lakes we never keep.
awesome! going tmrw in a Fla lake we tried last week. we’re bassers but there’s supposed to b hybrids. gets to 17ft or so. marked some last week we think. caught a few bass dragging a lipless. got us some jigs n flukes like yours gonna try ur tactics 👍
@@BooneBoys so… the lake is edward medard resevoir near tampa. my buddy n i are bassers.. i’m down here 4 years got my 1st boat on arrival a new tourney tracker.. my lake near clearwater, lake tarpon, has gone pretty bad, for many reasons, so we’re always looking for new lakes.. heard this one actually was stocked w hybrids by the FWC.. marked lots more other day, we thought, tried deadsticking flukes to no avail.. caught my 3rd largemouth in 2 trips dragging a lipless in 15 ft… keep thinking they gonna b whites… on way out guy @ gate (it’s a camping park which is cool) said he thinks the FWC only stocked once and it’s fished out, should b some big ones left mayb.. a bummer… gonna keep trying and mayb contact FWC for the details
You guys are ripping lips again. 😁 good job. We've been catching so much crappie recently haven't had time to try for hybrids. I have the slasher and thumper but haven't used it much. Can't wait to see more dead sticking videos. 🔥🔥🔥
Crappie is something my dad really wants to start fishing for. He ordered a livescope for Black Friday, but not sure where exactly we are going to mount it for him since he fishes primarily on the port side. I think it’s going to be a great winter fishing.
Thanks for the vid! Good stuff!
Thats for the video!!
You’re welcome!
Are you tying braid to the jig? What knot do you use!
Most of the time we tie directly. I’ve got some rods with 10’ of leader, but it doesn’t seem to matter Deadsticking. We tie polymer knots.
Nabatak in Claremore Ok has those jig heads bought some today. Best place to buy lures in the state!
Thanks for the info.
Color looks like a root beer-orange. I guess bourbon blaze sounds better for marketing, ha!
getting my motor fixed this week and I'll be out next week.... you are keeping me motivated to get out in the cold :) thank you!!
Great to hear. Keep me updated on how it goes.
Another great video!
Thanks!

Have you fished without the thumper running and does it change anything at all?

On a new lake, where do you like to start looking for hybrid during early winter

I think I found the heads on eBay from backwater baits. They look very similar to what y’all are using. Love the videos

Thanks! My boys I think have a full time guide, they just don’t realize that yet. 😂
Perfect day to fish with that cloud cover,I would describe the bite to my newbies as a light peck on cheek.
Some people say crappie bite, but you’re right it’s light. Surprising for the size of the fish too.
