Used to use this trick of canned whole corn 50 years ago for catfish and carp - 1st day of fishing might not catch many, but when 1st day of fishing is over, throw the rest of the canned corn in the water as chum and come back the next day with corn and WOW - fish are biting everywhere! It was lots of fun and it worked really well. Back then it was 3 cans of corn for $1.00 where I lived.

They are very abundant, get very big, and tug hard. They eat mostly barnacles from pilings but will hit most anything dropped in front of them.
Fresh dead shrimp works fine. No need to buy expensive live bait for them.

My dad was great at getting good hook sets on Sheepheads when others (like me) were missing them left and right. Especially in fast moving tide changes at choke points like the Oregon Inlet at the OBX in NC. He would say the secret was “setting the hook before you felt the bite”. He also often rigged it drop-shot so the weight was below the hook, sometimes using 1/8 oz above the leader and a split shot or 1/16 jig head below, with the hook swinging off a 3-4” dropper loop between the leads. It kept just enough tension on the line that he could feel anything. He’d say stuff like “oh there’s one sizing up my bait right now…he’s thinking, he’s thinking, he’s staring really hard…”BAM hook set. And my brother and I NEVER SAW THE ROD TWITCH or line move or anything that indicated a nibble.

Fun Fact: The "New Dickson Baseball Dictionary," first published in 1999 by Paul Dickson, says the most accepted explanation of the phrase
"CAN OF CORN", first used in 1896, makes reference to a long-ago practice where a grocer would use a stick to tip a can of vegetables off a high shelf, then catch it in his hands or outstretched apron.

hey brother late to the vid but i used to tournament fish for carp using coring if you get a sharp j style hook and use a yellow bead the bead wont fall off. Tip it with corn for the scent but that nice yellow bead wont come off.

From Franklin KY. Caught a 16" sheep off a rock jettie. Got my Southern Salt lures a few months ago and couldn't wait to use them until I get back south. Was using the Hoodwink bumping bottom for sauger and caught a drum (freshwater). Hopefully that is an indication for how they will work on redfish.

Corn is a good bait for sever types of fish. I’ve even taken corn cobs scraps after super and put them in a net and hang them o er in the water to use as a sort of chum to draw fish in. Fish be liking some corn. And in some lakes and rivers the rainbow trout hit corn berry well also
