We need more female directors to be given the chance to make big films. As an aspiring female director myself, I can tell you there are many many talented female directors out there

Olivia Wilde for booksmart too. I’d say the problem is that awards season is a weird game with weird decision making more than it is sexist imo. It naturally leans towards established names (Scorsese, Tarantino) and bigger budgets (1917, Joker).
Honey boy was also directed by a woman. And it was the best film I watched this year. Absolutely amazing. As an aspiring female director myself, there are soooo many amazing women directors out there. We just need production companies to give them the chance they deserve
