@@TheNotoriousCheeto I've always hated when people say things like that Just say don't do that because first you have to do this 😐 lot less confusing even though it basically means the same thing
Seeing how this works makes me wonder, what kind of mind does it take figure how to make revolver work, all parts have to work in unison............. Good video......
It takes a special person but remember the revolver wasn’t invented by one person starting with a clean slate. It’s almost always someone building and improving on what others have invented before them. Some are able to make bigger jumps than others
@@ratherbefishing4225 So that begs the question, if people keep improving on a product, how did someone like Sam Colt was able to put a copy-right on his revolver? Sounds a bit shady to me......
@@job38four10 he patented this type of revolving mechanism, not the whole gun. It was a huge leap in handgun development but still someone before him invented gunpowder, rifled barrels, the percussion cap, the concept of the trigger, all of which contributed to his design. Not saying he wasn’t a great inventor but he didn’t come up with the whole thing himself.
How is it done that the pressure from powder is prevented from going backwards kicking the cap and hammer off the cylinder? Is it just inertia of the hammer or do caps hold on so firmly or something else?
Just bragging: I am into these guns. I have two 1860 3-inchers that I have fitted Pocket Model grips and grip frames to. I make my own cartridges with fffffg powder just like "back in the days". They are nice. I have to travel a lot and I just breeze by "No Firearms" signs with my two little "Aces" in my pockets . . . PS - Mine are .44 caliber and I kept developing loads until they exactly match the power Colt .45 Automatic cartridge has = 230 grains moving 855 feet per second. Nice, but those balls must be complitely inside in chamber, otherwise that drum is not revolving. It will hit the barrel. (owner of cap and ball revolver)

This is by far the best gun animation i have ever seen
Thank you. Now I can get this thing back together.
@@johngraves1955 do not put caps on first it can be deadly
Do NOT put the caps on BEFORE loading the cylinder. That's a good way to get dead.

@@dankdaze42069 you're right since we can't rely on common sense anymore.
@@TheNotoriousCheeto if you do not put the caps first isn’t the gun powder running out when you pour it into the cylinder?
@@goliard84No. the flash hole from the nipple into the cylinder is too small to even let one grain of gunpowder through.

WOW AM I IMPRESSED!!!
And it was used in a very long time.
I love this design. I recently replaced the hammer spring in mine. Very simple design to work on.
Love those civil war military pistols, Colt, Remington and their Southern counterparts…👌🏻
Amazing bro... we need more Animations, excellent ❤
Thanks and sure
Outstanding animation.
That "explosive" in the caps are usually mercury fulminante back then. I don't know if it's still that today or modern chemicals being used
Really a revolver of beauty.
super awesome
Thank you

Наглядно, информативно и понятно.
всё время интересовал вопрос - ведь неизбежна утечка газа между барабаном и стволом. Там есть какая-то хитрость?
Nice information
Thanks
Great video but you missed the hammer has a notch to act as a rear sight when cocked

Nice animation but it's missing the half cock notch
Cap it last otherwise no hand
It’s a nice animation, I’ll give you that, but the engravings give you no educational advantage whatsoever
They provide "oo shiny" which helps with memorising
