By battling enemies and causing wonderful feats with his magical fish hook, the demigod Maui proves himself in Moana to be a true hero with an insane amount of power and I think it's time that magical hook he carries is finally explained. Hello I’m Isaac from Wotso Videos where we discuss fun topics for fun people and today I think it’s time to climb aboard your canoes, get your hair up in a man bun and gather some food because today we are going on an adventure through the story of Moana to uncover some of the shocking secrets behind Maui’s fish hook!

When a human spirit turns like the grandma into a spirit animal ,here in Hawaii it’s what we call an Amakua who will guide the future generations in the form of animals. But each animal has there own aspect and meaning. They stand to protect wisdom and the knowledge past from generation to generation 🤙🏻😌
Fun Fact Issac: There are two ways to become a Demi-God. 1. You must be born from a human parent and a God parent. 2. You must fully pass on and be blessed by the God you worship to be reborn with Godlike powers but a human body, and can outlive humans if you have been blessed with youth as well.

In polynesian mythology, Maoi's parents were both descended from the gods, as well, which could lead to simple inheritance.
Many Greek or Roman heroes also have godly ancestors, but not directly as parents.
It isn't consistent whether these heroes are referred to as demi-gods, but it makes since that dihybrid crosses can produce demi-gods, if simple crosses are always demi-gods.

The thing is, maui in the movie is not a demigod, as he has 2 mortal parents. He was saved by the gods, blessed with immortality and strength so he could survive for so long. He was also given a talisman, his fishhook. The hook gave him powers and made him able to perform such powerful feats.
Another great video, Issac. Mythical stories are the most interesting stories I know. They are my favourites because they involve culture and community. Centuries of tales bring everyone together. ⭐️✨💫

I think his powers come from him, but he has some psychological connection to the hook that makes him think he only has his powers when he has his hook. Although his hook probably also has power of its own that interacts with Maui's own power.

It's a necklace you can buy easily, it's part of his culture, and doesn't mean much else. Even I've seen it in shops
He's Polynesian and just like the followers of Thor in the real world where they Hammer as a symbol of their faith, so do some Polynesian people. It is also a symbol of cultural identity not necessary religion among Polynesian people.

Maui was stillborn. There is no Te Whiti god that turns into a Te Ka god in Maui legends.Its a Manta Ray not a stingray. The hook that Lilo wears is not a Maui Hook its a Polynesian fish Hook. Polynesian fish Hooks came before Maui

Can you explain insects in the universe of zootopia
I think Maui's hook isn't the source of his powers but just the object in which it's stored. Throughout the movie, you can see Maui is a beyond powerful demi-god but when it comes to losing his hook he becomes self-conscious and believes he has no power's without it. This is not a Disney movie but I believe this relates to the movie Thor: Ragnarok, in the movie Thor's hammer which is believed to be the source of his power, like Maui's hook, is destroyed in a confrontation against his sister (or in Maui's case against Tekah). Though in the movie it is revealed that Thor has powers beyond his hammer and that his hammer was only a "container" for the magic he hadn't yet gained access to for he relied so much on his hammer. I also believed this to be true for Maui, as proved in the movie, even without his hook Maui is still brave and willing to risk it all to protect the ones he cared for. Maybe when trying to distract Tekah from Moana it unlocked some of the magic inside of him to protect her, maybe this was just a glimpse into the powers suppressed within him, and he acted on instinct to protect the ones he considered his own.
