Is it possible to recreate the game engine for Super Mario Bros in Minecraft? A 2D, sidescrolling, shell hopping adventure. Can every aspect of this classic NES title be remade in a land of blocks? Well, in this Super Mario Maker concept, one person has done such a task - level editor and all. Join me as we do a deep dive into Minecraft and how to build Super Mario Bros within its world!

Leather actually has 5 shades of all 16 shades

It even has the MissingNo glitch.
Its completely playable- completable- and looks 100% authentic.
Its absurd what people can do with Minecraft if they have enough time and determination
@@betabee1221 That's just an entire emulator. Probably easier than you might think, all you have to do is copy the original gameboy hardware and paste that to minecraft. Only problem would be the time it would take to write that all out.

This was a really good recreation! I’ve always loved command block creations. If I had to make a suggestion I would say that the ground should be a different block than stone. This is because the texture for stone randomly rotates which causes the ground to look off. I’d use a block that doesn’t rotate textures like wood

@@celdaemon actually, default textures rotate like that, they just didn't edit the textures.json (or whatever the file is called) to disable blocks from randomly rotating.

I always tried toying with this concept a long time ago. I couldn’t because of Command Blocks being non-existent.
But then I moved onto Mario 64, and it was a breeze. It was really fun, maybe you should try it!

i love the usage of glowing blocks for the background
i remember trying to recreate maps from super mario bros 2. they even used some limited command blocks for teleporting between certain areas and also giving you a significantly better jump height. i only finished 1-1 and a tiny bit of 1-2 though and neither of them had enemies or any smb2 mechanics
This was awesome to see! Granted a lot has happened and changed since the time this video went up, but it's still an interesting concept to see happen and work. It really goes to show that with program and coding knowledge, you can do anything anywhere.

@@KidPrarchord95 A group of guys that play video games. In one of their "things to do In Minecraft" they make Super Mario Bros, not to this level but they did it about 6 years ago.
Super interesting. It's easy to (amateurly) critique game design but it's quite another thing to get a glimpse of what it's actually like to lash this stuff together.

Impressive. I have no idea how to code functions like this in Minecraft so this kind of blew my mind. I mean I caught a glimpse of how much coding it took to make armor stand Mario and that is some advanced level stuff
It might actually be easier recreating SM3DL in minecraft and i wouldn't mind the camera being first person.
Anything can be recreated in minecraft. I made a functional model of peach's castle, Bob-omb battlefield, whomp's fortress, and the castle secret stars a couple years back.

I once try to remake a zelda in Minecraft and yes it's possible. PS: I did not release it because the commands broke when 1.13 came out.

I'd like to bring 2 things to light.
Sethbling's Atari Emulator in MineCraft.
Pokemon Red in MineCraft. Completely playable, even with some of the original glitches in Pokemon Red. I don't know how well it plays on version 1.15, but it was built for 1.11.
Sethbling's thing is an emulation, whereas the Pokemon Red thing is literally thousands of common blocks, a full-size map, and a giant stadium to play in.

I got halfway through the video and honestly I can't continue watching. You've explained the same concept about 6 separate times now. Everything is armor stands. We get it. Good lord.
To avoid weird texture rotations‚ you can copy the game's block json (from the version jar) to the ressource pack and modify the code to disable rotation.
if are a human and have not already made 1-1 in nineraft, you are missing out.

I have a mod of it on the switch for Free. It’s amazing. It’s not the game, just a recourse pack.. but it’s cool.
It's just the official Mario Mash-Up Pack (NOT a mod) which is exclusively for the Switch Bedrock Edition.
You can even run through a one block gap like in super mario bros!

Make the moving space 1.98 wide so you'll feel free but still your center of mass and ability to pass stuff would still be technically constrained to a single block width.

Me and my mate actually made 1-1 and some of 1-2 identically, except without the enemies
obviously , unless its somehing like the tanooki theres not really anything stopping you from replicating it , and besides : modding , i remember i once found a 1.14.4 single player flight mod that basically let you fly like in single player or on servers that have it enabled , with slow underwater like mining in air ,but you could just fly around as long as you had a ring in your inventory
so , remaking something in minecraft isnt a problem unless you had to jump further than the maximum you can jump while sprinting
