    In the US they employ contractors as well as over here. The majority supercharger staff that got fired were backend staff involved in finding sites, getting permits, organising the contractors, etc. They got rid of these staff all over the world including UK.

    Dave I think you need to do a little more research on the Tesla Supercharger Department. You are correct that the installations in Britain are not done by Tesla employees. But the same is true in the United States and everywhere else in the world. Firing the Supercharger Department will have exactly the same effect in Britain as it will in the United States. Without the Supercharger Department, who will hire the contractors and pay them. Who will pick the sites and negotiate with property owners. The Supercharger department organized and arranged everything.
    How you think this will all happen by itself baffles me.
    Elon fired the Department because he was challenged and threw a temper tantrum. He has cooled off and the department is being hired back so hopefully this will just be a minor blip. But remember Dave that without a Supercharger Team these contractors will not magically appear and install supercharger stations.

      I think you miss the point that a supercharger installation can take several years from thought to commissioning. Sub contractors are in place a long time before work starts. Also at Birch services the engineers installing the Gridserve just got handed the job to finish the Tesla V3s. Who needs a full department of 500 office bids?

    • @arseliopereira2541
      @arseliopereira2541 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@davetakesiton I understand that a supercharger can take several years from planning to completion. Remember that the 500 people planned and implemented supercharger installations worldwide. Maybe they could do it will less people but they do need people there. This firing of the whole department was not done for legitimate reasons. Elon musk wanted Rebecca Tinucci to cut staff by 15 to 20 percent. She pushed back and like a spoiled brat Elon lost his marbles and fired everyone. He is now backtracking and trying to put something back together. This has already caused serious issues with suppliers and contractors. This has done much damage to Tesla's credibility. There is mass confusion and nobody knows what is going on. I am a supporter of Tesla but what bothers me is all of the apologists for Elon. Sometimes he does stupid things. Sometimes you have to acknowledge that he does stupid things and not defend all his decisions as being brilliant moves.

      Hi Andy, birch is V3 and taking forever. The workers and engineers here are all sub contractors so not affected by Tesla sackings. Some more analytical and rational thought needed here imo. Of course Tesla outsources installations but somebody somewhere is coordinating for Tesla. Essentially it is at the bidding of Tesla. I think that in fact it does affect us in the UK when the central team in the US is sacked.
    There will be a pre-existing raft of work but the likelihood is that once the current works is completed that will be the end of new Tesla installations.
    You might want to consider that if Tesla does sell the network then the cost of charging will inevitably rise for Tesla drivers. Any business will look at what their competitors can charge and know clearly just how much more money they can make for every 1 penny increase in cost. By undercutting competitors just now Tesla is gilding the lilly in preparation for a potential sale in my opinion.
    And Dave, I am an EV owner so not anti EV.

I'd like to think the all new sites will have at least the 800V supply going to the dispensers - is there a way you could maybe check on one of your next trips to some new V4s?

      I've been a Tesla driver and charger for over 4 years and I have not had to queue up for anyone in the last 2 years. Hi Dave. I have a question.
    Is the recent announcement of the price for the new Renault 5 an example of companies trying to slow the adoption of EVs so they can wring as much money out of their ICE lineup?
    Renault said the car would be under €25000 but now is launching at over €32000 with the cheaper one supposedly coming down the line.
    Did journalists fall for a bait and switch? Will this be another example of a list price they simply don't expect to get with a real price shaking out a few weeks or months after launch (like stellantis have done)?

    • @davetakesiton
      @davetakesiton  25 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      It is as I predicted and feared. They have not learned their lesson. A Renault 5 is not a £30k car. I sincerely hope it does not sell. Renault has a number of Chinese relationships or ventures and predicts by 2027 it will halve production costs. IMO legacy auto would be better spending time and money developing those relationships and setting up supply and manufacturing chains ready for a new launch in 2025, 26 or 27, rather than throw money away on models that will only sell in low numbers to a few die-hards and early adopters.
