@@AaronHoller I had a chance to buy a pair of Scandinavian birch Sonor drums from this guy off Facebook. They were from the early 2000’s but in great condition. After hearing how these sound I’m gonna reach back out!

@AaronHoller nice job bro. The mics dont pic up the bend of the tom sound but i know its there. Im a birch fan as well. I like how it makes a pure tone and gets out of the way for distinct sticking. With your style thats important. I play similarly. Props
Seen a lot of drum demos, I have to say this is probably the best I've seen in terms of showing off tom sounds going beyond the usual individual hits and using grooves/a musical context. Wonderful playing and great tribal rhythms.

Amazing drumming. I've been watching a lot of videos about the SQ2 and I trully believe I may have found my dream kit. The sound is just incomparable to anything I've ever heard. It's just amazing. Your drumming makes it sing. You should be really proud of yourself. Amazing technique and great demonstration of what this kit is actually capable of. Very very good work man ❤️. Please NEVER stop drumming.

No way someone who plays like this would ever stop. People who would stop don’t have that feeling i’ve taught many and it is just something some people have. I wish I had an sq2 kit but signature bubinga are nice but at this point nearly impossible to tune.
and I can play but man… you are one of my favorite drummers I’ve heard. No better no worse than simon phillips or gadd. Importantly you have your own finger prints

What I enjoy about this video is he just plays and doesn't do a bunch of talking.. Today when people make videos they talk too much. People want to hear the instrument and the musician behind the instrument. Last but not least that's that's some good drumming.. And nice sounding drums!

Great playing. Unbelievably gorgeous looking and sounding kit. I've been playing drums since the late 70's and custom Pearl Masterworks kits since 2000. I need an SQ2 now. I even love the huge chrome mallet badges too.

Incredible sounding drums. Possible the best sounding kit I've heard on youtube-and I listen to A LOT of kits on youtube. Love the detail in the Scandi birch veneer on the inside of the bass drum hoops but African Marble on the outside. Nice touch! I want to thank you for posting this and for the break down as to shell size and thickness as the more I listen the more it helps me decide on my choice of shell thickness for a birch SQ2 kit I'd like to order.

Dude I've been checking out a ton of drums on here lately, from famous artists and everything and dude... The sound you are getting is second to NONE. These drums make me want sonor again.

oh they’re the stock heads. birch can sound like 5 different woods. You make this sound how I wish I sounded.
This was an awesome demo. I ordered a beech Sonor with medium rack toms and thin floor toms and your video convinced me that ordering thinner floor toms was a good idea. I never understood kits that got thicker as the drums got bigger. I want my floor toms to have low end and sustain.
That's awesome knowing that this video helped aid in your decision with your SQ2! That was my exact intent, I too couldn't find samples of what I wanted during my search, and even more specifically quality sounding samples. So I created this video to assist all in their search for what could be their sound. I'm excited to see your kit, do you mind sharing your SQ2 UPID? Did you get an estimate on its arrival yet? The sound of heavy birch is nothing short of awe-inspiring. A thick shell with a deep fundamental note is so musical. Eames custom drums makes a kit very similar to that. If you already have quality hardware from an existing kit, then you can get a 6pc kit for under $2K.....which is a spectacular price for a custom handmade kit.
No way can you get a new SQ2 for under $2k. I wouldn't trust a used kit either.

I especially like that "sub bass tone/"sub bass drone" resulting by all those toms resonating together during your solo. Glad you did not use any gates on the toms. Drums should be allowed to sing! Really cool!

@@nickavenoso7851 What's stopping you? Start saving and even if it takes 2 - 3 years, at some point, you'll have enough and believe me, after all that time saving up, looking forward to the day, it'll be the best feeling ever :-)
@@FredEricS-Moto I was thinking, I could get a 3 pc and then just get another separate floor tom and two toms, I would just need a rack for that. But, I have a TAMA kit right now, which is also really good.

One of the best kit I ever heard. Birch is so an awesome material for drums... It changes everything for me. Looking for some SQ1 kit for more affordable kit ^^
