      you've beat 11th, 12th, 16th, 17th and 18th, softest 5-0 since North won 10 straight.
      If essendon beat crows next week they've beat the exact same teams as Geelong has except for North, but i doubt they'll be anyone saying their a premiership chance.

    If Banfield had done the same thing to Butters, he'd be watching the next few weeks. But because Butters is in the hunt for the Brownlow and the umpires love-child, it wasn't even a kick.

    • @Jamie_one_of_many_prophets
      @Jamie_one_of_many_prophets 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      If contact was made Butters would be getting a few weeks. MRP is outcome based, if a player doesn’t make contact or contact is minimal, there won’t be a punitive measure. It is entirely luck based in many instances, a few centimetres or millimetres can be the difference between a longterm suspension or a fine.

    • @joshmc5882

      @@Jamie_one_of_many_prophets Banfield cops it in the chin, rotates 360 in the air before landing and there was no contact? You must be on the effin MRP.

      @@joshmc5882Calm down. I didn’t make any assertion that the MRP findings were correct. Players often exaggerate contact to get frees. It is unclear if that is the case in this instance. There doesn’t appear to be any injury as a result of Butters actions which you could argue some onus should be on the other player to protect themselves from frontal contact. Butters aggressive attack on the ball could’ve resulted in an injury/concussion but he made an instantaneous decision to adjust his body to reduce the likelihood of harm.

    Powell-Pepper was undeserving of 4 weeks and the subsequent MRP findings have been inconsistent. Crouch contact was worse than Powell-Pepper and the previous week, Pickett action is also arguably worse yet only received a 1 week ban and Melbourne have the audacity to challenge the ban. It is apparent the AFL cares more about the spectacle than it does about the head and player welfare. There needs to be clear guidelines and perhaps the bump itself should no longer be a football action as the risk for concussive outcomes are far too frequent and the uncertainty of future ramifications too great.

    • @morningsky8045
      @morningsky8045 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If the bump is outlawed then surely the same should apply to any tackle where a player is brought to ground, as there are perhaps 20 instances per game where that occurs. Any action where there is potential for a severe head injury should be penalized irrespective of the outcome if the AFL is dinkum about the head being sacrosanct - which of course they are not (until such time as some poor devil gets a broken neck).

    • @Jamie_one_of_many_prophets
      @Jamie_one_of_many_prophets 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@morningsky8045 They have attempted to reduce head contact when tackling by awarding the person being tackled if any swinging motion occurs. It is an impossibility to remove risk from a contact sport unless you are willing to significantly compromise the game. If a player’s actions are unreasonable or their actions don’t align with a football action than they should be penalised accordingly however the inconsistently is quite jarring and infuriating at times.

      And there you have it. As someone approaching 70 I have witnessed many drastic changes to the game over the journey - yet it has somehow survived and indeed become even more popular. With the concussion protocols now in place, the last thing we need is for players to be missing simply because they are the victim of a tackle that causes sufficient head trauma to be ruled out of a game.

    What does Kingy mean by a top 4 list regarding the Bulldogs. The game is so tough, so competitive, how can you rank lists, games are won week to week on the field, not on paper. Games are decided by a kick or even less within the last minute. Even the premiers Collingwood had to fight for so many games right down to the wire last year, so again, i dont believe anyone can say they are a top 4 list, they can say we have a good team on paper but thats it, it doesnt guarantee you anything, you still have to fight tooth & nail for wins most weeks. @MrWhitmen1981 I like that coaches have the option. Some teams perform better with the coach in the box.
      It creates good tension.
      No one is yammering that ground coaches can't see structure breakdowns or player/position mismatches as well from the ground.

    Is it hawthorns own making really?
    nth melbourne get draft assistance - ladder finishes: 15-9-12-17-18-18-17
    hawthorn ladder finishes - 12-4-9-15-14-13-16
    west coast: 8-2-5-5-9-17-18.
    now look at how compromised their draft picks have been
    2021
    nth: 1->1
    haw: 4->7
    wc: traded their first to port: 10->12 for 14
    2022
    nth:traded pick 1 got pick 2 and 3 and change. 2+3 -> 3+4. they chose to get pushed back ie was in their control.
    haw: 6->7
    wc: traded pick 3 out but would have been 2->3
    2023
    nth: 2-> 2 +compo 3->4
    haw: 3->5
    wc: 1->1
    Every one of hawks first picks in the last 3 years has been diluted by Academy or f/s to a much higher degree than nth or wc, especially when you consider that wc and nth intentionally traded back so any dilution is of their own making.
    Total unavoidable points lost due to compromised draft:
    nth: 0 (i dont include compo picks)
    haw: -853 draft points
    wc:-390 draft points
    the hawks have been hardest done by from the last 3 years of compromised drafts to the tune of a pick in the range of 20-21. Their ladder finishes are only slightly better than nth and definitely worse than wc over the last 7 years.

    Carlton really should have won that game against Adelaide. They had 30 odd shots and missed half of them and gave up a three goal lead in the last few minutes playing too loosely, not to mention a poor goal review and a couple of freak occurrences like the Kemp dropped chest mark on the boundary at 50m which bounced straight through players to an opponent for a one handed scoop and stab pass to a waiting forward.
    So I certainly don't think Adelaide's problems are in any way fixed. The Blues simply gave them too much latitude up the wings and in their forward line and probably should also have cleared out their own forward line as the repeat entries meant the Crows had men back all game and it was being repeatedly bombed in on the heads of the talls. Might be a good kick in the arse for Carlton, although they did take some very important injuries out of that match with a tough round of games coming up in the next month, their injury list is mounting.

I was interested to see what hyperbolic statement he was going to say about Essendon this week.

    Dees beat Port and Adelaide interstate B2B but drop out of the 4 because of a loss. Carlton lose to Adelaide in Melb and stay in and Port rise.
    Talk about laughable

    Really shits me that King continues to say “Daniels” when that’s not the guys name. Pretty disrespectful for a bloke whose only job is to talk about footy to get a name wrong and every time he says it.

    Beveridge Genius???? A great coach gets the very best out of his players. He is not even close to a genius, in fact it could be argued he is destroying a few careers , certainly not getting the best from his players.

    Gerard comes from equalisation (concession picks) from the opposite position because he supports a multi million dollar succssful club that has been in the top 4 for over a decade. Does it come down to money? Not exclusively but money is a decisive factor in clubs that bounce back quicker from a rebuild. Do we want North, the Saints and the Western Bulldogs or Tasmania to be on the bottom every year? Accountability is important but after 6 or 7 years at the bottom, you've done your time regardless ofthe mistakes of the previous regime and its time for the AFL to help- if for nothing else for the clubs fans.

    Melbourne went into the Brisbane game having played 3 matches in less than 2 weeks.
    No Bowey, no Melksham, no Hunter and Salem played the game for 5 minutes before going off injured.
    Not saying it is an excuse but it is a reason for the drop in energy and even before the match, I tipped us to lose simply because (a) Brisbane’s form isn’t as bad as most made it out to be and (b) 2 tough matches in Adelaide and playing so many games so close to each other, I just sensed a drop off. Guess what? The game played out accordingly.
    It is near on impossible to stay up over the course of a 24 week season.
    So, to have Melbourne out of the seedings based on this one loss is incredibly naive. Melbourne at least deserved another 2 weeks and then cast judgment after the Geelong match in 3 weeks time.

      Brisbane played 3 in 14 days and had to go from Adelaide to Brisbane to Melbourne in the 6 day turnaround.
      Also missing Coleman, Doedee, McKenna and Ashcroft who I think are more impactful to the Lions than those listed for the Demons.

    King read a bit too much into Mitchell's press conference, it was just a standard "bring your mouthguard to training" message.

    The dogs totally mucked up getting lobb for 1 mil +. They shouldve gone for hell and leather for a " key" defender. Tim English won't be a ruckman that takes you all the way to the promise land. Grundy was a valuble option and English resting fwd was a good opportunity. Clearly didn't require Jordan Sweet.
    They also seemed to have a list of mostly similar players. Why go and get more mids; bramble, harmes, Baker?
    They have bont and libba starting mid magnets... 3rd mid, being mcrae, Caleb Daniels, sanders, can't make the cut ?
    Seems so confusing down west

      Terrible list management/recruitment strategy. Why bring in Lobb with Darcy coming through ... I would say that deal was signed and sealed over a year prior to announcement.
