- Join me on an exciting day trip as I hop on my scooter and cruise 1 hour east of Rayong City to discover a piece of history-an impressive US War Ship now proudly owned by Thailand.
After exploring the ship, I take you to a charming nearby town where I meet some friendly locals, sharing stories and embracing the local vibe.
Curious about my next destination? Stay tuned as I wrap up the day at the bus station, booking a ticket to an undisclosed location! 🚌 Where will the journey take me next?

Nice adventure mate. I enjoyed that. Cheers Wayne 🤩
Thanks mate 👍
Nice1 Wayne. The couple that done the coffee seemed really friendly. Looking forward to seeing Pattaya from your prospective 👍
Great people, I sat down with the coffee owners for at least 30 minutes. Cheers mate, on to Pattaya!
Klaeng looks cool . The ship is an interesting find too. Another great walkabout Wayne . Thanks. Interested to see more .
Thanks ! It was a good day out
Enjoyed the look around Rayong 👌 and Klaeng - Nice work WW -
Now he’s going to Pattaya 😱- 🤩
Cheers Ant! Onto Pattaya! Wish me luck 🤣
That;s a proper coffee! I have that same manual espresso machine. Well done!
It blew my socks off! Strong stuff.
As a kid I got into an American Sub docked in Brisbane. Never forgot that experience. Let the fun begin in Pattaya👍🤣🤪
I was like a little kid, loved it! Bring on the madness in Pattaya! Help!! 🤣
Nice one Wayne.
Would have been something else if you did a version of Chers video to the song If I Could Turn Back Time on the warship. She had her arsh out for that one.
Take it easy.
🤣 Nice one buddy.
I watched all your videos and you never fail at entertaining...Great Job!
Thanks Alan 👌
I got out of one of them vans once. The diver was spaced out.Nearly side swiped another van and near on ran over the top of a bike going the same way. That was in one of my fav places Nong khai and Udon thani.Go have a look Wayne
These vans are the worst things on the road. I can't stand them. Always going so fast and cutting corners. These vans are always in so many accidents. Like you mentioned, some of the drivers are spaced out. I'll hopefully get to Udon in the future.
Great video, that coffee looked amazing! I would LOVE to see you go to Bangkok😂. That would best the best video ever😂.
The coffee blew my head off. You.migjt just see me in BKK soon.
@@WalkAboutWayne That would be awesome, mostly because I couldn't picture you bopping around BKK, hating chaos and all! Lol
Brilliant Wayne! I much enjoyed seeing the old girl, much less one in pretty much original condition. Interesting it was originally the USS Gallup, during the great depression my mom's family left the dust bowl and headed to California, but got stranded in Gallup New Mexico, where my mom grew-up. At 16, when the war broke out she went to Los Angeles to work as a welder at consolidated steel, where that ship was made. She might've even welded some of it together. She said she used to have nightmares of the ships she welded coming apart and thousands of sailors washing out into the ocean.
I was expecting your 155cc Yamaha to be a good ride, it was when it was new. Also what you said about the drivers cutting you up, was sort of what I remember years ago when drove up from Penang to Phuket. That was a really grueling trip, and after a couple of air raising close calls I called it quits for driving in southern Thailand
Great to read this comment, thanks for sharing! I had a really good day on the ship. The bike was good, it was a little different than what I was use too. Thanks
@@WalkAboutWayne Thanks Wayne, I posted that comment twice and when I refreshed it was gone I posted it a third time and the other two previous posts appeared. So I delieted the first two but now I see a sentence is missing:
"Brilliant Wayne! I much enjoyed seeing the old girl, (Not Many WWII Warships that escaped the scrap yard), much less one in pretty much original condition"
I might be wrong but it does not look like it was ever designed to take part in any potential sea battles, it was part of some sea escort mission. I really don't know what that ships purpose was in WWII, it could have also been a hospital ship, it could have carried ammunition, been an oiler, who knows..
You could be right there Dan. Like you said, it could have been used for something else.
Seems like you found your new vacation spot in Rayong when you not in chiang mai👍🏾 Im chilling in Chiang Dao
Rayong could be an option 👍. Nice, Chasing Dao another of my faves. Not long ago left Chiang Dao .
Wayne I have to thank you for your videos! I am 31 with no kids and have a small online business which makes about 1200/mo on average (so not nearly enough to just quit my job and stay in the US), and a full time job.
I have been saving that money and decided that I am going to move to Chiang Mai and quit my job once my lease is up in December - I believe with the extra time I can focus more on my business, or starting more online businesses, and likely live a nicer life without having to sit in a fluorescent hellhole for 40 hours a week just to make rent and food.
I had no idea this was possible until I watched your videos man, maybe I'll run into you and get you a beer and some curry sometime in 2025!
Go for it buddy! If that's what you want to do. Reading your comment sounds like me, many years ago. I just said F*ck it and booked the flight. Best thing I ever did. Hope to see you in Chiang Mai.
Happy for you…I’m overseeing my mother’s and 2nd cousin’s elder care here in the states. Once complete, I’m headed back to Thailand, The Phils and Vietnam
when in pattaya consider doing a a vid of the 'Sanctuary of Truth Museum' - its very special. I also echo the other commenters that if you want to stay longer look in jomtien area - its much more laid back beach town vibes
Maybe mate, it's been done a million times. If I have time , I will .
Good decision, time to move on and continue the journey. Be safe mate😄
On the move mate. Pattaya here i come
Klaeng yes! Nice little town, went there last trip to the area.
Cool ship, I’m certain some of the Navy blokes will find it interesting as well.
Would be nice if they at least restored the old wheel house
Yes Dennis, Kleang was a nice town. I agree, they should finish the wheel house .
That ship was perfect for an Asylums' productions movie!! , do you know those right...Sharknado, Mega pirana ....
Haha yes, it would be perfect for that type of movie.
Russian's had the Gallop 2 after the war, and then the Thai Navy. 3 Gallops were in comission in all.
Nice, that's a good bit of info. It doesn't say that in the write up. I'll have to read more about it.
Yet another awesome vlog🤩👍🏻
Nice couple with the coffee shop👌🏻☕️
Hilarious where this dog barks to defend when a new 2 meter farang come yelling through the quiet town🤣🤣🤣
Thanks! Great couple at the coffee shop. This dogs are always ready for me haha.
Been to Rayong once before the pandemic. I liked it but it was a bit windy there. The small town you visited seem like a nice little town. Will probably have to visit it next time, just have to convince my wife to go there 🙂. Ske prefers the northern parts of Thailand and so do i . But i like watching you Wayne. I look forward to your adventures.
That's true, Rayong is really windy , I like that though. I'm a North Thailand guy myself. Thanks buddy
Hi Wayne, that was interesting the warship, maybe you like to visit Bang Saen, it is a nice beachtown with not to many foreigners. I think it will be something you will like. Cheers man. 😃
Yes, I had a great time on the warship, I love anything like that. I might visit Bang Seen in the future mate. Thanks buddy.
Love the friendliness of Thais. Thanks for sharing mate!
They are the highlight for me. They are always up for a laugh and joke. Thanks
6:44 To make your experience real, they were simulating the Japanese shooting at the warship.
Oh nice, if thats what it was, it worked. I crapped myself 🤣
Great content, enjoyable and relaxing to watch mate! Wishing you the best of travels for your next adventure. I dislike those minivans also I might add! Cheers wildy
Thank you mate! Hate them vans, it was in my mind all day about riding in that van.
What a lovely town Wayne
Great town 👍
You should try ko samet, bliss?
Maybe next time 👍
❤️ YOOOO! Nice video!!! I a Small Struggling Travel Channel and you really inspire me to make better content 😌 Thank you!
Thanks Christopher, keep making content buddy. Just be you, and the channel will do great!
@@WalkAboutWayne thank you so much for answering! I will continue to improve as much as possible 😍
"This is Klaeng man"...
Sounds like something Super Hans would say 😆
Hahah
Nice Wayne. I'd like to know the process to get the ship to where they have put it. That has taken many year to get it to that point. A bit of a make work project for sure.
I will dig for more info on the boat soon. It would be good to know more.
Do more WW2, Korean, vietnam war remembrance areas! I’m a huge history buff but due to Thailand pussyfooting taking sides in any conflicts Thailand is full of rich war history that’s not really shed like on ever.
I have a few more War videos coming soon. That's one thing I'm really interested in.
12:13 knackered?? COFFEE ☕☕☕☕
Never touch it
Good vid as always wayne.
Rayong didn't impress me on the vid. Didn't seem to have a good Thai vibe.
Did you like it?
Appreciate you showing the scene to us.
Thanks mate. I liked Rayong but not sure if It was for.me longterm .
I don't know if it is your cup of tea, but the is a TH-camr meetup 13th-14th in Pattaya, I believe, at Taco House.
Always some sort of a meet up here. I know some of of the guys down here 👍
So how's Songkran looking ahead mate 😊?🎉 Lucky you u'll make it I won't
I'm not sure about my plans for Songkran yet. I have a few ideas up my sleeve.
@@WalkAboutWayne ok James Bond 🤘
Nice walk about. I have a suggestion, buy some cheap business cards with the You tube channel name on it, and give to the different people you inter act with, it will make it easy for people you film to take a look at themselves on the video, you may get a few more Like/subs. Cheers.
Not really my style mate, but thanks 👍
Ha!!! I had the same suggestion…I see his point though.
Taking you back to Plymouth Hoe and dockyard and warships
I feel right at home 🤣
In those small towns people are more friendly especially the woman Wayne mate
Ain't that the truth 😉
Consider getting some inexpensive Walk-About Wayne “business cards” and hand out to potential subscribers.
Or small stickers 👌🏼
Not my style really mate.
@@WalkAboutWayne Understood…it’s good to know who you are AND who you aren’t. Love your vids…I’m living vicariously through you until my responsibilities end here in the states and then I’m headed your way.
Did you bail out of Chiang Mai due to the smog or to make content? I hear it's bad up there just now.
Bit of both buddy. But yes, it looks bad in Chiang Mai now, so glad I left for a while.
I used to ride around like that, till i got skin cancer, cover up be safe bro
Sorry to hear that mate. Keep riding though 👍👍
You are wise to not bother with Koh Samed.
It’s possibly the worst Island in Thailand.
I didn't fancy it, maybe another time.
You was expecting it to be a lot bigger? Women often say that to me.
But she might say "great girth"
F Pattaya. . Egil . Norway.
Which area is that? 🤣
Worse drivers then in Chiang Mai? well that's disappointing.
Yes, Chiang Mai is a doddle. Unless I;m just use to CM.
@@WalkAboutWayne Please translate your slang for an American. :)
@@HairyPixels doddle = piece of cake
@@WalkAboutWayne Interesting. In America we say a doodle is a casual poor quality drawing.
Doodle is the same in the UK too. But Doddle means - nothing to it, or piece of cake
Why are you and all other native English speakers not trying to pronounce the Thai city names right?
Especially annoying is the way you English speakers pronounce พัทยา Pattaya.
I don't think we are doing it on purpose buddy. 👍
Roland, have you ever considered producing a Thai city pronunciation booklet or vlog with everything spelled out phonetically?
