Ah! So that’s what I had when I was nursing my first child! She’s grown, I’m older and now I’m getting trigger finger problems in a couple different fingers. Thumb hurts like a you-know-what. Love your practical videos and would be ever so grateful for suggestions about how to fix this - I know it’s a slow process - before I resort to a cortisone shot. 😊
Oh my gosh, I’ve had this sharp pain in my wrist for years… since I had little kids, actually… and never knew what it was or how to make it better. Thank you so much for solving the mystery and giving me hope! Yes to more exercises for it!
Oh my gosh thank you thank you thank you for this video!!! I was thinking I had just flared up with arthritis in this joint and I was doomed!! You are a lifesaver!!! I am so encouraged to try your protocol and find healing for this problem!!!
Omg I passed the test - thought it was arthritis with no solution other than anti inflammatories. Thank you Yoni. I’ll tell ya though a lot of us older folks are doing various exercises most of the day vs just living life. So boring and I’m currently rebelling! :-)
Thank you!! I've had bilateral deQuervain's and bilateral cubital tunnel since 2002 thanks to a work injury. Even the doctor I was able choose for an "independent" evaluation didn't believe me as to the extent of injury and pain. Even after failing EMG tests, I was told I was normal and everything was fine. (Life Lesson: Don't ever suffer a work injury while working for a large insurance company; they will fight it with everything they've got.) Over 20 years later, I still have pretty regular flares where I can't use one or both of my hands, and even when I'm not flaring I have to be extra cautious. Yes, this absolutely impacts every facet of everyday life. Thank you for this.
Wow, what a great video! I've had painful De Quervain's for a couple weeks now and have been scouring the internet for more information, and this is by far the best video I've found. I'm excited to do the exercises once I receive the MFR balls I just ordered. I really appreciate the suggestions for lifting and carrying items to help keep from aggravating the problem. I've been so discouraged lately, thinking the only remedies are Cortisone shots or surgery, but the information in this video has given me hope. I would love to see more info about applying heat and cold, wearing a brace or kinesiology tape, etc. (all of which are giving me some relief, but I'm not sure if any of it may be contraindicated). Thank you so much! -Kim
Thank you, thank you, thank you ! Excellent video!! I have noticed significant pain level improvement within a couple of days of following your advice 😊
Another wonderful video! Fortunately, I do not appear to have this condition. But, I still appreciate how well you show how to diagnose this ourselves and then work on the changes you suggestion. I will keep this video in mind if I find people who might benefit. Thanks. Namaste
I fell on black ice 12/15/2023 and got a right distal radius fracture that was in a cast for many weeks. I'd been doing really well until around 11 months later when I suddenly developed De Quervain's and/or carpal tunnel...but I think it's DQ. It's so frustrating! Thank you for this video. I've got pain and some numbness and have been wearing a brace and kinesiology tape but I'm getting impatient. I think stupid weight lifting is what triggered this.
Thank-you!! I had no idea I had mommy thumbs… (but I am a mother of five) I thought it was due to just getting older. I will try these four steps thanks so much🤗
The number of times per day will vary from one individual to the next. But I would typically start with with 1x/day and slowly increase to twice or even three times a day - so long as there is functional improvement and no soreness whatsoever.
This was very helpful. Thank you. 25 years ago I had that surgery that releases the band around the wrist to give relief for this problem. ( I don't remember what it is called) And it helped me to finish working until retirement but if I overuse my hands now, it begins to "burn" like before. I will try what you suggest, thanks again.
Thanks for your helpful video. Do you see this a lot in dentists? I've been practicing for 24 years and just started noticing it the last couple of years. Really would like to avoid surgery.
Love to have some exercises that don't need any kit so I can do them anywhere/anytime. All my physio supplied exercises for arthritis at base of thumb need small bands or clothes pegs
thenk you so so much for these brilliant tips ... is there a tip you could suggest for turning taps etc? I also have MS so my grip is not brilliant at the best of times! I think I have got this condition in my thumb from perhaps trying to hard? thank you again :)

Hi Dr. Yoni ive been suffering of this problem for 3 months, I am a professional chef and you can imagine how much the wrist and thumb is stressed with this job. Has become extremely painful and i had to stop working for a week. Luckily I've found out your explanation, I also watched the old video about thumb pain, similar symptoms. I have found the use of the tape in the place of a brace less invasive, is it good for this particular complaint as well?
Unfortunately, it concerns my case. Maybe more sugestions , next instructions: how to work with computer with de Quervqin? How to use mouse, how to do everyday things not to harm myself more. I'm office worker and I cannot be on sick leave for years. Working with computer is hell after 10 minutes of work.... I cannot completly don't use thumb
I had trigger thumb release surgery about 9 months ago. Within the last week I have noticed pain and light popping in the “De Quervain’s Tenosynovitus” area on the same hand. Do you think this may be related to the trigger thumb?
Great question! In cases like that, building balanced strength (and stamina) in the muscles of the hand/forearm that can handle the demands of the job is essential. I would love to see another video on this! I can't believe that none else, on all my 67 years, has even mentioned this condition.
Thanks for letting me know!
The simple tilt at 7:45 already hurt so bad (only hurt in open palm position (when thumb is in extension position))

I can you please show the excercise to fix rectal muscles. Your help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your suggestion.
How often do we do these? I will definitely try these, I have been suffering with this for months! Subscribed!

You're most welcome! Repetitive workplace tasks are a major contributor to De Quervain's and 24 years is a long time so it's certainly possible.
Have you shared a follow up video yet?
If there's more interest from the community, I'd be happy to make another video on this topic.

Where is your clinic located?
How about when you're a hygienist and your hand is your money maker?...Try to keep the hand open as much as possible except when working?
