      Same for me.. I have QT.. but I found Awesome relief from pain and inflammation by using fresh ginger poltice.
      I grind some fresh ginger root and place it on a precut piece of cloth and wrap it in the area.. making sure to make it moisture proof.. I usually keep it overnight with great results 👍
      No pun intended with the thumb up 😂

      @@bruno-orante funny thing is that its been a quite a while since my wrist feels great again I mean its normal now, I didn't take any internal medications, but the only thing that I did is evrynight before I sleep. I smother it with eucalyptos oil for more than two weeks and I think that did it. its been almost 4 months ago after I commented here.

Been to 2 massages (work only temporary), took antiimflammatory meds (works like a charm but after the meds wear off it is right back again). Have been resting, splinting, stretching, medicating, supplementing with MSM/Chondroitin/Glucosamine. Without real success, the problem still persissts and my tendons or their sheet seem to be still inflamed. Starting to get desperate and close to depressed (or rather unhappy with the condition). Going for acupuncture next week, will also ask doc tomorrow about injections - BUT not cortizone which seems to rot bone.

    Thank you Doug. I started suffering this last year in August saw a hand therapist who diagnosed it and made up a splint. The problem was that after session after session there was not alot of treatment progress. The cost and not moving forward I just rested it for ages and finally it started to improve I thought. But anytime it was pressed to work as in raking, whipper snipping and putting horse rugs on it would become sore. August this year I think it had had enough of and now I am back at square one. Decided to see a physio again treatment after treatment, the cost is prohibative. I went to an acupuncturist last week, finally I felt some relieve. Currently I have the splint on but now I will gradually follow your advice. And then gradually build the strength back. I looked at whipper snipping today and although the hand therapist said I could do it with the splint on once I looked at the movement and the weight my left hand has to carry I will hold off .. Once again good solid sound advice thankyou.

    WOW....I have a watched a ton of DQT videos and this has to be the best one I have seen. A lot of other videos will tell me to massage my forearm or twist my elbows while having my hand flat on the ground, but this seems to be the most effective for my specific DQT symptoms

  • @b.walker5955
    @b.walker5955 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    I have watched EVERY DQT youtube video and THIS IS HANDS DOWN (er I mean thumbs, wrist...) the best. Everyone else talks about massage, shows massage, but never explains how correct massage is key. They may say it stretches the tendons, but nothing about the sheath and the core of this syndrome, or working the area to encourage the tendons to recoil and play nice again. 🥰. Seriously I assumed the massage was to help me COPE with the pain. I now know done successfully, it can correct the DQT. Truly GRATEFUL having watched and learned from you.
    PS. I think I obtained DQT from yard work. Hours of ZT mowers that have steering handles between your legs that require constant slight correction attention using thumbs/wrist. And miles of gas powered weed eater that vibrates even your teeth. Arrrgh. Can I continue during treating the pain, IF I wear a wrist support? Something that keeps my thumb in position?

    Saw him in office a couple of weeks later and he put me on anti inflammatory meds and was impressed that I had identified my problem as DQT.

I’ve just had DQT happen to me for about a week now and it seemed to be improving with just stretching and a natural anti inflammatory cream for soft tissues… it only hurts like hell first thing in the morning. Decided to get a wrist splint and after wearing it for a few hours (out and about and then when I’m sleeping)… but when I take it off it’s soooo stiff and hurts even more. If those muscles/tendons have essentially been injured, how does it help to keep pushing and twisting on it? How does that not hurt it further? For example, if we badly sprain an ankle, it gets wrapped up or casted and completely isolated for weeks to heal. Because I also see countless other medical people suggesting to ONLY rest for this affliction.

    Thanks for the info. I have a question does bruising usually accompany one of the symptoms. Sometime my thumb won't be swollen but it appears to be bruised.

    Thank you so much for this video ! Unfortunately, the huge pain I have, about 7 weeks later, is still at a 10, and maybe a 9 after I put it in the brace and go to sleep.... Does all this type of massage do good to my obviously, inflamed parts, and not make them more inflamed ? I know, it's been 3 years.... Hope you are still around ! Thanks again ! Fran Danco

    Thank you for these videos. I have been diagnosed with dequervains. I am also a LMT for 34 years. I fell on my wrist riding my unicycle 3 months ago. I had a steroid injection 3 weeks ago and have had no relief from the pain. I have been doing self massage , seeing a PT, and all that I can find on the internet to help heal this. Wearing braces, etc. I am supposed to have surgery in 1 week and I don't want to but the pain hasn't eased up. Do you think it is wise to wait a while for before having surgery, have another steroid injection? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Hoping this will help me! I've had severe symptoms for two months now, have worn a brace, and am scheduled to speak with a surgeon next week to see what else I need to do. As an artist, this is affecting my dominant hand and making it impossible to do what I love.

      @Dani Cojo - have you had an MRI to confirm the diagnosis ? Or can you ask your doctor - you might be able to take Prednisone. Prednisone has worked for me, but i would have preferred a qualified massage therapist. Definitely either of these two options before surgery !

      @@terrifedele8908 I ended up going to the surgeon and they did an ultrasound on my wrist. They injected a steroid into my tendon and told me to stop using the brace, and my wrist was (thankfully) feeling much better by the next day. It's been two weeks now and my wrist is almost completely better except for some clicking and sometimes some aches as I use my hand normally. Leagues better than it was!

    Very helpful. How often and for how long should this massage be done before expecting results? Should this massage be done weekly, daily, multiple times per day?

    • @hollandmassagereflexology2000
      @hollandmassagereflexology2000  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Maria. My experience is "5 minutes max" per hand, with a 72 hour rest between visits for healing. Each person heals differently, so how long before desired results? I seen great results for some in just two visits. Others a few weeks. If they don't improve after a few weeks, then I offer them to try another modality for relief.

      If you have this for over a year, and decide to do therapy will the chances of it going away be slim? This is very helpful, but can this be done at home also?

    • @hollandmassagereflexology2000
      @hollandmassagereflexology2000  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@brittanypare3885 In my opinion therapy always brings some relief. To what degree is the question. and that depends on way to many things. If you have someone at home that will participate in the exercises gently, you may be surprised by to which degree you feel better. I never regret trying to help someone with this condition.

    It's very strange that when I yawn and stretch out my arms, my hand hurts like all get out. I think that this generates from nearer to the shoulder blade. I think that this may be from the tendons and connected tendons contracting, not just the inflammation of the tunnel. Your thoughts and how can the message therapist help here?

      Jon. I would have a PT look at TOS possibility. I myself would focus on the pectoralis minor and its insertion. If the PM is tight there that will cut off nerve innervation to the arm and hands. You can look up my video on TOS and see if that is more of whats happening.
      Best of fortune
