  • Just a rambling update video while I had things apart to replace the LCA and swap back to the Injen intake tube with the new honecomb air straightener.
    Including some discussion of the wheel sizes I'm using for winter/summer, and power output expectations (250+whp with very flat curve), along with commentary on the 3 boosted Skyactiv engine failures that have happened so far.

    An issue also with the Mazda engines is actually the brake vacuum pump breaking down ( most times it is the rubber gasket that swells and leak’s internally ) and pumping engine oil into the intake unless you have an air/oil separator but you are also loosing oil . My car had that issue and found almost a litre of oil in the intake manifold.
    Thanks for the update

      thanks for the info, will keep an eye on that, I've seen a couple issues come up in some forums with folks suddenly 'burning' a lot of oil...

    Keep up the great work! I am already starting to gather parts, mounts, injectors and such to get that baby in. Eason at VT is a great dude to get all sorted out.

    I’m assuming I’m the first one mentioned here with the blown engine. Just to clarify, my engine went at 5k rpm, I was not holding it at redline. That being said, I was driving it hard on a tune that wasn’t properly set up for the smaller pulley. I think people should be using extreme caution when switching to the small pulley. I’m not entirely convinced that my engine went solely because of the tune.

      2.5L, right?

    • @ragugliaro7862
      @ragugliaro7862 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@jergarmar Yep, 2.5 manual. Lightweight flywheel and performance clutch installed as well. From what I’ve seen the 2.0 have not had any issues with the small pulley.

    • @jergarmar
      @jergarmar ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ragugliaro7862 Do you think that the lightweight flywheel contributed also? It seems like it might, because it allows more torque during acceleration.

    • @ragugliaro7862
      @ragugliaro7862 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@jergarmar Thats the other possibility. Prior to switching pulleys it was putting out noticeably more power. The cylinder that went was furthest from the transmission so it would in theory be more strained than the others with the extra power. It could also be a combination of the two. I don’t know of anyone else running an aftermarket clutch/flywheel and the small pulley on the 2.5 so I can’t say for sure. Which is why I say to be cautious. VT also had issues with the small pulley which is why they don’t warranty it and they make people sign waivers

    • @jergarmar
      @jergarmar ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ragugliaro7862 Oh yeah, to be clear, I'm not trying to minimize the risk of using the small pulley, just trying to recognize all the factors that increase torque. Because the next time it happens -- for whatever reason -- it will be nice to look back and recognize the patterns. Hard to know EXACTLY today.

    Thanks again for all the effort to make this possible, and all the updates! My supercharged 2nd-gen is treating me very well.
    Oh, and a note on my 2nd gen, just the other day I finally worked out long-lasting mounting solutions for the coolant pump and intercooler. I had a temporary fix up until now, but now all the undercarriage covers fit back on, so it went from being merely "possible" for 2nd-gen, to something I feel comfortable actually recommending to others. Huzzah!

    What parts in the engine are forged and if I have an auto trans can the clutch be upgraded for peace of mind? Are there forged parts for these engines? I wanna go with the SC or corksport turbo (their intake placement is horrible though)

    • @M6Ninja
      @M6Ninja  ปีที่แล้ว

      There's no need to change the internals (crank and other parts are powder forged).
      Also, the auto transmission is incredibly strong, within the torque converter is a multi plate clutch pack that is used to direct drive when the gear is engaged.
      I did drop the transmission pan, replace the filter, and replaced the fluid as preventative measures.
      though I did add an oil cooler for added insurance against excess heat, to improve longevity

    Hi there! I was curious to know if it was possible to supercharge a 2014 3rd gen manual Mazda 6?! Or is it only possible to with the automatic Mazda 6's?

    • @M6Ninja
      @M6Ninja  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      it's possible and many have done it, transmission handles it fine, though may need new clutch after a little sooner than before adding all that power.

    How much are u pushing on a dyno?

    • @M6Ninja
      @M6Ninja  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      last year on old tune and standard pulley 230wtq/230whp (from a baseline stock of 160wtq/160whp, so it's a conservative dyno). Now should be 240wtq/250whp once I get back on a dyno with the better tune and smaller pulley.
      But the numbers under-represent how fast it feels becuase it's such a flat torque curve and no lag, feels like a 4.0L

    I thought it was working GOOD before--- why the f.. didn't you just LeAVE WELL ENOUGH alone?? :) (lesson learned too late? - but then I don't RACE).

    • @M6Ninja
      @M6Ninja  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      haha, yes well, learned a lot from the process, and it's been running great since then, the extra oomph is really noticeable down low and helps a lot on track.
      If not racing, probably not worth swapping to the smaller pulley :)
