First race with the Super 3, Grey sleeper, got 3rd FWD unlimited, learned a lot, 300CHP w/ 40mpg 🙌
Was a great first race with this build, though many mistakes were made with the suspension setup, mostly because I ran out of time to dial it in.
Now that I have the supercharger and Silvers Coilovers this thing will shock "fast" cars that don't think it's competition until they see my lap times.
I am hoping to rack up some 2nd & 1st place finishes after adjusting the alignment and height (way too much rake this time), and unfortunately didn't have time to adjust alignment after coilover install.
Also, I tried running with the FSB disconnected like I did on the last build and it really hindered my times, these shocks have much more travel than my cheap setup on my last build so it dove terribly in the corners, reducing my cornering grip. Will run with it connected next times, may revisit disconnecting FSB again when I have enough time to figure out the right bump stop height to manage body roll properly.

Sadly was in a minor accident that ended up doing enough damage to my beloved Mazda6 for insurance to consider it totaled :( Managed to salvage the supercharger, and some other parts. Bought a slightly newer Mazda3, 2018, to build back better than ever!

Really getting better with my driving technique, able to harness the suspension changes, using the over-steer and slip angle to dance around the track. Managed to hang onto 3rd again, but this time I was only 0.04 second behind 2nd place and only 0.12 second behind 1st place with worn out RT615 tires! Turned off stabilization and mounted offset on the windshield to give a better sense of the speed and closeness to some of the cones! Ended the day 5th place for FWD open class, very respectable for my long wheelbase family sedan :) New brakes and Megan H-brace chassis bracing performed beautifully! SO MUCH FUN!
Observations about Mazda belt tensioners

After breaking the stud that holds the tensioner in when trying to install a defective tensioner I got multiple replacements of different brands, and sharing some of my observations. Defect rate seems to be pretty high with these, so make sure things move freely as they're supposed to.       Justin Freeman has made more progress in custom tuning these, and I have a high flowing exhaust. I need to get it on a dyno or get a Dragy more likely, based on the log data it appears to be over 260whp which would equate to about 300hp at the crank.

    You may want to refer to the setup of the "DXLアラゴスタNOPROアクセラSKY-D" that participated in the Super Taikyu race. They still sell competition parts. ※NOPRO was founded by an engineer who used to work at MAZDASPEED. Today, NOPRO is a member of MAZDA SPRIT RACING, a race team run by Mazda's headquarters, and participates in vehicle manufacturing. This is the same as the position of Prodrive in Subaru's race team.

      92 octane, premium only, can't run regular when adding boost to an engine that is already at 13:1 compression ratio.

      both 2.5L, just going from the bigger 6 to the smaller lighter newer 3, still 3rd gen.

    Happy to hear you are okay! It does feel bad that you were one of the forces behind the Mazda6 and now its gone... I am not a big fan of the 3 sedan, the 3 hatchback looks so much better ahah but will be here to enjoy the mazda content :)

      My wife likes the sedan more than the hatchback so I had to go that way :) Honestly I think they both look good, the aesthetics of 3rd gen Mazdas is hard to beat.

      yes, it's optional on the higher trim, be default it was 2.0L, but I waited and found one fully loaded, and had the 2.5L

    Just changed the tensioner, serpentine belt, and WP (stretch) belt on my sister's '14 CX-5 w/2.5L I4 w/129k miles. It was on its 2nd OEM serpentine belt, and the original tensioner and WP belt. Went with Gates tensioner and serpentine belt, but OEM WP belt, as some owners have reported premature failures with the Gates WP belt, which apparently is shorter than the OEM WP belt. Had no issues R&R'ing the tensioner - didn't mess with the engine mount, just removed the access panel in the RF wheel well, and wiggled the tensioner out and installed the new one back in. I cut the old WP belt, and then positioned the new stretch belt on the WP pulley and cranshaft pulley, and as I pushed it towards the WP pulley, I rotated the engine clockwise with the 21 mm socket. It eventually worked its way completely onto the pulley. The biggest issue was breaking all the heads off the four rivets that held on the access panel and two rivets for the wheel well liner. Fortunately, Advanced Auto Parts had Ford/Chrysler rivets that were close to an exact match, and installed easily. Aside from the rivets, I was done with the job in about an hour, and it only cost $180 in parts. She was quoted $650 by the dealership.
