I thought I was doomed to die in Commiefornia, so we spent ~150K remodeling our townhome. Then, my wife was updating the insurance for all the upgrades, and the insurance rates were going to triple or quadruple. She said 'Let's move to Florida'. We are now living in our RV in a moble home park while our house closes escrow and we look for a new home in central Florida. I couldn't be happier to have fled Sodom and Gomorrah. Edit. We are aware of the issues with trying to insure older homes with older roofs. So we will be shopping accordingly.
I'm a truck driver and have been the last 18 years. The last 2 years wife and I have been back and forth about delivering to California as of January 2024 we REFUSE to take a load to Cali! We will not comply with bullshit regs they have put in place! I can stay out of cali and make more money because I don't have to deal with the clean truck bullshit!!

This is the California version of the EPA and it's even worse. I'm wondering how this week's Supreme Court decision on Chevron will severely reduce their reach. Chevron let the bureaucrats fill in the gap of any loosely written laws and SCOTUS said that doesn't work. Basically, if the state law does NOT say they can force 4x a year smog inspections, they are invalid. Along with a host of other laws & regulations across the US at fed, state and local levels.
My GF and I were both born here, been here for 59 and 63 years. Likely leaving here early next year. Lots we will miss. But people running this state are completely destroying it 😢 Newsom is an evil snake.

I'm a retired owner/operator and only twice went to SHAKY and the second time had to call on the FEDERAL DOT to rescue me from the CALIFORNIA DOT which didn't impress the SHAKY DOT and was invited to not come back. Which I decided was a GREAT SUGGESTION!!!😮
I just received a notice from CARB that motorhomes have to register and pay a fee. I registered and found out that I was past due for 2023! And now I owe for 2024 and I believe I will need an inspection.
I was born and raised in California and was happy to move out of there for good in 2014 never looked back. While raising my family there, I felt like we were just existing anytime. I got my head above. Water felt like someone was there pushing me back under.

Reminder: every Big Rig that travels to Ca. regardless of their home state needs renewal by 7-31-24. I had a mailer received on 6-29-24 from CARB. It shows: "Stay up to Date" "Advanced Clean Truck Fleets" Regulation affects vehicles with a GVWR over 8,500 pounds & applies to government Fleets, drayage trucks, and fleets that own or dispatch over 50 vehicles or $50 million in annual revenue". I live in Tennessee and I run a 1978 GMC Brigadier 12ft dump with a Detroit 6-71. It costs me $230 a year to register it as a "farm truck." Get the hell out of California, but don't come to Tennessee. We're full.

Hey brother wanted to tell you I really feel for you and all Californians. I have been born and raised here in Oregon, now in a suburb of Portland and we are heading the California way. I really wish people would get more involved with their city, county’s and state governments. These people foisting all these absurd laws and requirements on the general public and business are unelected bureaucrats and our supposed elected officials, no brother they are not elected. Our elections/state and city governments have been highjacked. I’m not embellishing here. I know first hand being raised here, lived here my entire 53 yrs, they have been stealing our elections since 1981 with mail in balloting. Portland is NOT some liberal utopia as all the media/Tv claim it is, they just say it but it’s not. Oregon is to blame for wiping out the entire west coast but don’t know if you’re old enough to remember but back in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s the was red, conservative and republican. Oregon created mail in balloting in 1976 and tweaked it and worked on it and took it for its first trial spin in the Multnomah county election for Portland Mayor in 1982. The mayor at the time was fully expected to win reelection in a landslide as he was very well liked and respected by the people. True story, come Election Day the man lost by large margin to some democrat out of nowhere and we’ve never had a republican mayor since. Media was shocked, portlanders were shocked but soon after on the local news week, 2 weeks the news started claiming that “well look at that, Portland is a liberal city and proof is in the voting of the people”. No kidding they started reporting routinely about Portlands liberal leanings and I specifically remember thinking this is weird as we are nothing like they claim. I’m not a conspiracy guy but check this out, we always had R mayor and governors but we like every one else like change so we’d vote in a D if they had a better plan so it would go back and forth like normal at election time but here’s further proof of what I’m telling everybody here. In 1986 our republican governor was so pleased and happy with mail in voting that he signed it in to law 1986 and that crooked SOB was our last republican governor of state of Oregon. The last! I see states passing laws that make trucking very difficult (CA, NY, etc). It's different for you being in-state, but if the OTR drivers just refused any loads into or out of these states they would have to change the laws.
Emissions are coming for us all sooner or later! Born and raised in Cali and a Texan the last 15yrs. They are doing away with our yearly inspections and are going to an emissions based program for the heavily populated areas. Pretty sure we are all just buying time with the gas/diesel engines

It’s only going to get worse due to the politics and greed they are wanting to charge per mile so I have heard because the lack of people buying gas and diesel now, and their roads and funding comes from the gas tax.
You should try to register the vehicle out of state like South Dakota or Montana. You don't even have to live there. They just want your money. Or, you could just move right across the state line to Nevada or Arizona and continue your business in CA with the trucking and all that but have your "base" in NV or AZ. I don't know all the laws there but they HAVE to be more reasonable than California.
Well I can say this, the fact that CA,is so beautiful,and it’s about trying to keep the air clean, and running a small business isn’t hard unless your running anything that throws nasty black clouds from diesel emissions,I live in Texas, where everything is easy, but I wish they would come down harder on diesel emissions, as they are the worst’s polluters, one due to tuners that are allowed in many states..we have to think of the earth..NO IM NOT A BLEEDING HEART ,I’ve been a double master tech since about 1989, and I’ve raced and built customer cars my whole life..I did emissions testing for yrs before OBD2 ,and the tail pipe testing went away, which makes it so easy to scam the testing with just a simple plug in test for check engine lights,which can be beaten easy..do I like the fact that I’m not allowed to drive a race car built on a modern car, NO, but you can buy a 800 hp cat new..so like the 70’s it’s going away, I hate the idea of driving a electric car,because they are worse for the environment because of all the damage done to strip mine to planet to get the resources need to build Batteries,and the zero footprint they are meant to have, is only met at about 15 yrs after purchase, at which point you need a new battery starting the whole process over..it would be much better to use the same gas power plants and run water to power them, it’s been shown you can make huge power still with hydrogen, bmw tried it, but the tech wasn’t there, unlike today, the tech is there to do it correctly, and you can still rebuild the engines unlike batteries which require again either strip mining our country while killing off homes and endangered animals to get these resources,like in AZ..or we can buy them from China again helping make China even more powerful..so while I feel for him and his trucks, the old ones need to be put to rest, and use hydrogen to run diesel power plants, then you can tow all you want.l
Where’ve you been? CARB has been after all of us for years. I’m sure since you have diesel trucks, they’ve been sending you crap in the mail quarterly. As far as the truck goes, unless you delete it, the “smog” for that truck is just a matter of plugging in a computer. Takes about 30 min. Yes, it’s a pain in the ass. And it’s expensive. But it’s a cost of doing business. Now all we have to do is make sure ALL your competition is following the same rules.
Why would anyone willingly make half the money as everyone else because of where you live? Move across the border and run the same business with half the costs. You are not subject to most Cali taxes living outside it's borders. It will cut your costs in half. It's the same in B.C. Canada. Way better to live in Alberta and operate in B.C. because of the taxes. You can bid cheaper than the local guys can because of the taxes they have to pay.

All this carb emission in California is just a bunch of hot air and here's why. You can run a diesel on natural gas and propane they're already doing it with natural gas through UPS and a few other companies. Propane Burns at 99% efficiency. There is no black smoke ever with Vapor fuels like propane, natural gas, hydrogen, gasification and methane. I personally have a view generators that run on tri-fuel and I only run propane and then. They're so clean you don't have to change the oil or a tune-up. Much at all compared to gasoline. There is 70% less emissions coming from the tailpipe of an engine that's running on propane compared to gasoline. So when it comes to this car garbage it's a bunch of hot air. If gruesome newsome really cared about the planet which he doesn't. We'd all be running Vapor fuel engines. But this is not about a clean planet. It's all about the money in full control of shutting your Bluetooth car down. Aldi's new vehicles with Bluetooth they can literally shut them down just like they shut down vehicles that had OnStar several years ago all the way back to the 1990s. I've been in the automotive and big truck field for many years. And something I don't understand and still trying to make sense out of this. They did a test with the new cybertruck vs a Dodge ram Cummins Truck pulling a trailer. After 150 me the Cyber truck had to stop to get a charge. I PUT THIS IN ALL CAPITALS SO YOU WOULD REMEMBER THIS. CYBER TRUCK CHARGE WAS MORE THAN DIESEL! WHY ARE PEOPLE BUYING A CYBER TRUCK ARE THEY TRULY TRYING TO SAVE THE PLANET??? People don't realize when you buy this new technology like an electric vehicle, or a vehicle with Bluetooth they can shut you down in the event of an emergency or catastrophe. Or the next covid whatever. We all know the powers that be do whatever they want to do. What I like about propane it's cheaper than gasoline I save it and I stock it it's the best fuel out there. Not because I'm saving the planet. Because propane is so extremely Dependable more than diesel. Don't get me wrong I have a diesel truck. When extremely cold weather a propane engine starts so easy. And with gasoline vehicles I start them with propane. A diesels when they get so cold you got to plug in. and on the smaller diesels on the technical note I've never tried this but I'm pretty sure it would work. You'd have to cut your heating element off and spray it with starting fluid. All big trucks that are diesel I've always sprayed them with starting fluid to get them started over the years. Yes when everything is just alright you shouldn't have to start a diesel with starting fluid. But when you got to get them going you spray them with starting fluid. I wouldn't personally want to spray mine with starting fluid because I know it how it milks the oil and it's very hard on a engine. If you want to really see how sick California is. California keeps trying to pass a law sex at any age they just missed it by a few votes but they keep trying to pass the bill. This is so all the ped o phile Hollywood and elites. Can have sex at any age with underage children. And even marry them. This is what they've been doing in Hollywood for many years. You can't make this stuff up this is how bad California really is! California is banning the sale of gas furnaces, gas water heaters, and gas stoves. They claim the gas is also polluting the air here. Now they have a ban to ban the sale of gas lawn mowers, and gas powered weedwackers, and blowers. They are talking about banning the sale of gas powered power tools. They want us to buy battery powered equipment. The CARB and Newsom have gone too far. When you have to replace your gas water heater and furnace you are going to have to pay to convert over to electric. A lot of people are going to make the trip to Nevada to buy these items they are banning.

I wish instead of requiring all the emissions junk on trucks, they'd just go after the people who tune their trucks to roll coal. If a diesel is tuned right and maintained, it's clean enough in most cases.

I know there are some Canadians working on it, but it is not commercially available, therefore there is no alternative to diesel trucks at this time.

If it was only so easy. In NY for example in 2021, we voted NO to universal mail-in voting.....the legislature basically ignored the will of the people and passed it anyway at the end in 2023. Now its in court trying to be stopped so its in not effect for 2024 elections.
CARB is appointed and just runs it's own gig making their own rules. There is no voting involved. I believe the voting in this state is rigged , unless I just hang out with the folks that aren't batshit crazy. I had a plumbing business in CA and they refused to renew my 2008 Dodge ram 4500's. They gave me 2 choices get a new engine or buy a new trucks. I sold the business and retired early, sold the trucks out of state. Figured out I was paying close to 58% of all income in some form of taxes and fees to California including fuel taxes, income taxes, real estate taxes, truck registration, property taxes on a rental hanger shop rented from the city, etc, etc etc. I saw the light after I left and mad -o- man it's the best thing ever to happen to me. I have a lot of spending income now no bs fees from California. I will never go back.
Do you understand why or how they can retroactively say a truck is non emissions compliant? I always thought if those trucks were legal for emissions in 2008 they were always legal. Very confusing. Run a maintance business with 13 trucks in Maryland. I’m so sorry that happened.

I had a similar run in like this in 1980? Was driving a 63 Chevy 1/2 ton with a straight six that the State insisted I put a smog pump on. And it had to be installed by a certified shop! On a $200 truck, would have costed hundreds!! My reply was to take a couple "sick" days at work and drove to New Mexico to se a buddy and go to the DMV. where it was $15 or 20 to retitle and buy tags! Gave a ride back to Garden Grove to another buddy who split the gas. Left for good shortly after!
I operate and own a tree care company in Southern California and CARB is wacked they have been trying to fine me for almost a year now for not paying engine regeneration and permit fees for equipment that I have not had and owned for over 4 years because they can't keep up with their own paperwork . They are completely incompetent and unreasonable to deal with.

All California Governments have done the same for years. They have always had the toughest emission laws since the 90s. At least they can make the rules so anyone can understand, not make a rule and change it after everyone complies. When a manufacturer builds their trucks to comply to current emission laws, don't change them for at least 3 or 4 years.
I picked up a Thiokol snowcat in Redding CA. I won it on E-bay and drove in from Nevada to picked it up. On my way home CHP pulls me over. My trailer weight was about 7,000 lbs My trailer was stamped GVWR of 9,999 lbs.. The CHP officer said I needed a commercial license because I had 6 lug axles. My Trailer had two axles. He said I needed a commercial license because the trailer was rated at 12K. I said no here it is stamped and labelled 9,999 lbs GVWR. He said I had two 6 lug axle so that's 12K. NO its rated by the manufacturer as 9,999 lbs.. we argued back and forth then he said That I could "potentially" tow 12,000 lbs. I asked him, I broke the law because I could "potentially" tow 12,000 lbs. in your mind? Asked him to see the Law.............. NOPE he could not and or would not. He said just don't come back to California again with this rig COMBO AGAIN. That was 2006. I've bought several snowcats over the years since and spent well over 250K since and not one penny was spent in CALIFORNIA. Never will I buy anything in California again. Wont drive there wont buy there.

Yes it’s built for 14k plus. As up to 15% on hitch. The current law is stupid. When trucks are much more powerful, brakes much better, engine breaking, better tires. 26k total, or 10k trailer is stupid. Local guy used 1 ton dually, GNFB tandem 10k axles to haul an under 7000 lb corn head. But beyond 150 miles from home. Illegal, fines. But a half ton, 5k axle bumper pull he would be legal. His rig could safely haul 3x the load. If you haul. Get a CDL. More than once I get asked. “You got a CDL?” I say “yes” they drive on.

As many of you may have heard, the Supreme Court announced it has overturned the Chevron Deference...which takes the teeth out of regulatory agencies making up their own rules (regulations) and enforcing them as if they are laws. I would be curious to know how this decision will affect state run agencies like CARB, etc. Hopefully this ruling will provide a precedent for some much needed relief for California businesses.
The problem is is both California Supreme Court and the 9th circuit is owned by the left. I retired from the ironworkers local 377 in San Francisco. We moved to my wife's hometown, Sierra Vista Arizona. NO traffic, NO smog, NO bullchit. Very happy we left the three ring circus.
In 2019, DMV wanted over $1100 for an annual registration renewal on my 2018 RAM 3500 dually. We had purchased our property in Idaho in 2017 becaus we we saw the writing on the wall. I said screw it, registered it in Idaho for $119. My wife and I were life long Californians, but enough was enough. We realized we weren't the kind of people the politicians wanted in the state. The place is so broken, it will never get fixed. They can have it.
I see a lot of UHAUL trucks driving around in the State of California with license plates from other States. The UHAUL corporation is registering in other States where it is cheaper, and a smog is not required. If you live in California do not buy a vehicle in another State expecting to register it in California. The DMV will not register it here. It has to be 50 State smog compliant, and meet California smog requirements. The Federal State smog requirement is not good enough. They have a bunch of rules. A violation of interstate commerce. Newsom has made California a Communist State.

The reason is because the registration, and insurance is much cheaper. The high vehicle registration fees set by the current Democrat lawmakers are too high. The lawmakers have created the problem, and people are now skirting around the fees they have set in place. The high registration fees, high gas taxes, and taxes they have imposed on Californians has also led to a poor economy. People no longer have money to spend in the economy here. Look at Oakland. CA, and San Francisco. Businesses have closed up shop, and corporations are moving the jobs out of California entirely. It is time for Californians to fire Newsom.
Born in Burbank in 1974. I have a couple HD 550 rigs and all personal use. Left Ca last year and moved my whole welding/machine shop myself. 10 trips from Ca to Alabama. Love it here, cost me 46.00 to register my 2015 350. There is no smog at all, most guys pull off all the emissions stuff, including the def. Full delete. Gas engines, heck they cut off and sell the catalytic converters. Sweet Home Alabama!
Oh and work........ dude there is more land clearing work out here it's insane. Athens, Florence, muscle Shoals, Cullman, Decatur areas are some of the fastest growing areas in the country.

I'm a California native 63 years old born and lived there until 60. Sick of paying 1,000 a year registration on my 3500. I also had to smog. Moved to the east. No smog or safty check and registration is $29 a year. Everything is better out of CA! Sad CA is this bad anymore. It used to be a great state years ago. CA will never be fixed. It's a lost cause.
@warddbud basically they visually check to make sure the emission system isn't deleted or tampered with also they look for codes in the trucks system. It is not a free check. 3 years ago costs about $80. My 2019 3500 Ram brand new at the time had to be smog checked every 2 years.

I thought I was doomed to die in Commiefornia, so we spent ~150K remodeling our townhome. Then, my wife was updating the insurance for all the upgrades, and the insurance rates were going to triple or quadruple. She said 'Let's move to Florida'. We are now living in our RV in a moble home park while our house closes escrow and we look for a new home in central Florida. I couldn't be happier to have fled Sodom and Gomorrah.
Edit. We are aware of the issues with trying to insure older homes with older roofs. So we will be shopping accordingly.

This is the California version of the EPA and it's even worse. I'm wondering how this week's Supreme Court decision on Chevron will severely reduce their reach. Chevron let the bureaucrats fill in the gap of any loosely written laws and SCOTUS said that doesn't work. Basically, if the state law does NOT say they can force 4x a year smog inspections, they are invalid. Along with a host of other laws & regulations across the US at fed, state and local levels.

I just received a notice from CARB that motorhomes have to register and pay a fee. I registered and found out that I was past due for 2023! And now I owe for 2024 and I believe I will need an inspection.

Hey brother wanted to tell you I really feel for you and all Californians. I have been born and raised here in Oregon, now in a suburb of Portland and we are heading the California way. I really wish people would get more involved with their city, county’s and state governments. These people foisting all these absurd laws and requirements on the general public and business are unelected bureaucrats and our supposed elected officials, no brother they are not elected. Our elections/state and city governments have been highjacked. I’m not embellishing here. I know first hand being raised here, lived here my entire 53 yrs, they have been stealing our elections since 1981 with mail in balloting. Portland is NOT some liberal utopia as all the media/Tv claim it is, they just say it but it’s not. Oregon is to blame for wiping out the entire west coast but don’t know if you’re old enough to remember but back in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s the was red, conservative and republican. Oregon created mail in balloting in 1976 and tweaked it and worked on it and took it for its first trial spin in the Multnomah county election for Portland Mayor in 1982. The mayor at the time was fully expected to win reelection in a landslide as he was very well liked and respected by the people. True story, come Election Day the man lost by large margin to some democrat out of nowhere and we’ve never had a republican mayor since. Media was shocked, portlanders were shocked but soon after on the local news week, 2 weeks the news started claiming that “well look at that, Portland is a liberal city and proof is in the voting of the people”. No kidding they started reporting routinely about Portlands liberal leanings and I specifically remember thinking this is weird as we are nothing like they claim. I’m not a conspiracy guy but check this out, we always had R mayor and governors but we like every one else like change so we’d vote in a D if they had a better plan so it would go back and forth like normal at election time but here’s further proof of what I’m telling everybody here. In 1986 our republican governor was so pleased and happy with mail in voting that he signed it in to law 1986 and that crooked SOB was our last republican governor of state of Oregon. The last! I see states passing laws that make trucking very difficult (CA, NY, etc). It's different for you being in-state, but if the OTR drivers just refused any loads into or out of these states they would have to change the laws.

You should try to register the vehicle out of state like South Dakota or Montana. You don't even have to live there. They just want your money. Or, you could just move right across the state line to Nevada or Arizona and continue your business in CA with the trucking and all that but have your "base" in NV or AZ. Well I can say this, the fact that CA,is so beautiful,and it’s about trying to keep the air clean, and running a small business isn’t hard unless your running anything that throws nasty black clouds from diesel emissions,I live in Texas, where everything is easy, but I wish they would come down harder on diesel emissions, as they are the worst’s polluters, one due to tuners that are allowed in many states..we have to think of the earth..NO IM NOT A BLEEDING HEART ,I’ve been a double master tech since about 1989, and I’ve raced and built customer cars my whole life..I did emissions testing for yrs before OBD2 ,and the tail pipe testing went away, which makes it so easy to scam the testing with just a simple plug in test for check engine lights,which can be beaten easy..do I like the fact that I’m not allowed to drive a race car built on a modern car, NO, but you can buy a 800 hp cat new..so like the 70’s it’s going away, I hate the idea of driving a electric car,because they are worse for the environment because of all the damage done to strip mine to planet to get the resources need to build Batteries,and the zero footprint they are meant to have, is only met at about 15 yrs after purchase, at which point you need a new battery starting the whole process over..it would be much better to use the same gas power plants and run water to power them, it’s been shown you can make huge power still with hydrogen, bmw tried it, but the tech wasn’t there, unlike today, the tech is there to do it correctly, and you can still rebuild the engines unlike batteries which require again either strip mining our country while killing off homes and endangered animals to get these resources,like in AZ..or we can buy them from China again helping make China even more powerful..so while I feel for him and his trucks, the old ones need to be put to rest, and use hydrogen to run diesel power plants, then you can tow all you want.l

All this carb emission in California is just a bunch of hot air and here's why. You can run a diesel on natural gas and propane they're already doing it with natural gas through UPS and a few other companies. Propane Burns at 99% efficiency. There is no black smoke ever with Vapor fuels like propane, natural gas, hydrogen, gasification and methane. I personally have a view generators that run on tri-fuel and I only run propane and then. They're so clean you don't have to change the oil or a tune-up. Much at all compared to gasoline. There is 70% less emissions coming from the tailpipe of an engine that's running on propane compared to gasoline. So when it comes to this car garbage it's a bunch of hot air. If gruesome newsome really cared about the planet which he doesn't. We'd all be running Vapor fuel engines. But this is not about a clean planet. It's all about the money in full control of shutting your Bluetooth car down. Aldi's new vehicles with Bluetooth they can literally shut them down just like they shut down vehicles that had OnStar several years ago all the way back to the 1990s. I've been in the automotive and big truck field for many years. And something I don't understand and still trying to make sense out of this. They did a test with the new cybertruck vs a Dodge ram Cummins Truck pulling a trailer. After 150 me the Cyber truck had to stop to get a charge. I PUT THIS IN ALL CAPITALS SO YOU WOULD REMEMBER THIS. CYBER TRUCK CHARGE WAS MORE THAN DIESEL! WHY ARE PEOPLE BUYING A CYBER TRUCK ARE THEY TRULY TRYING TO SAVE THE PLANET??? People don't realize when you buy this new technology like an electric vehicle, or a vehicle with Bluetooth they can shut you down in the event of an emergency or catastrophe. Or the next covid whatever. We all know the powers that be do whatever they want to do. What I like about propane it's cheaper than gasoline I save it and I stock it it's the best fuel out there. Not because I'm saving the planet. Because propane is so extremely Dependable more than diesel. Don't get me wrong I have a diesel truck. When extremely cold weather a propane engine starts so easy. And with gasoline vehicles I start them with propane. A diesels when they get so cold you got to plug in. and on the smaller diesels on the technical note I've never tried this but I'm pretty sure it would work. You'd have to cut your heating element off and spray it with starting fluid. All big trucks that are diesel I've always sprayed them with starting fluid to get them started over the years. Yes when everything is just alright you shouldn't have to start a diesel with starting fluid. But when you got to get them going you spray them with starting fluid. I wouldn't personally want to spray mine with starting fluid because I know it how it milks the oil and it's very hard on a engine. If you want to really see how sick California is. California keeps trying to pass a law sex at any age they just missed it by a few votes but they keep trying to pass the bill. This is so all the ped o phile Hollywood and elites. Can have sex at any age with underage children. And even marry them. This is what they've been doing in Hollywood for many years. You can't make this stuff up this is how bad California really is! What what I could understand about that website it's basically they could do whatever they want to do and this was several years ago I read it. California is banning the sale of gas furnaces, gas water heaters, and gas stoves. They claim the gas is also polluting the air here. Now they have a ban to ban the sale of gas lawn mowers, and gas powered weedwackers, and blowers. They are talking about banning the sale of gas powered power tools. They want us to buy battery powered equipment. The CARB and Newsom have gone too far. When you have to replace your gas water heater and furnace you are going to have to pay to convert over to electric. A lot of people are going to make the trip to Nevada to buy these items they are banning.
Gavin newsom is supplementing the loss of all the electric cars gas tax at your cost looks like to me.

If it was only so easy. In NY for example in 2021, we voted NO to universal mail-in voting.....the legislature basically ignored the will of the people and passed it anyway at the end in 2023. Now its in court trying to be stopped so its in not effect for 2024 elections.

I had a plumbing business in CA and they refused to renew my 2008 Dodge ram 4500's. They gave me 2 choices get a new engine or buy a new trucks. I sold the business and retired early, sold the trucks out of state. Figured out I was paying close to 58% of all income in some form of taxes and fees to California including fuel taxes, income taxes, real estate taxes, truck registration, property taxes on a rental hanger shop rented from the city, etc, etc etc. I saw the light after I left and mad -o- man it's the best thing ever to happen to me. I have a lot of spending income now no bs fees from California. I will never go back.

I had a similar run in like this in 1980? Was driving a 63 Chevy 1/2 ton with a straight six that the State insisted I put a smog pump on. And it had to be installed by a certified shop! On a $200 truck, would have costed hundreds!! My reply was to take a couple "sick" days at work and drove to New Mexico to se a buddy and go to the DMV. where it was $15 or 20 to retitle and buy tags! Gave a ride back to Garden Grove to another buddy who split the gas. Left for good shortly after!
I operate and own a tree care company in Southern California and CARB is wacked they have been trying to fine me for almost a year now for not paying engine regeneration and permit fees for equipment that I have not had and owned for over 4 years because they can't keep up with their own paperwork . I picked up a Thiokol snowcat in Redding CA. I won it on E-bay and drove in from Nevada to picked it up. On my way home CHP pulls me over. My trailer weight was about 7,000 lbs My trailer was stamped GVWR of 9,999 lbs.. The CHP officer said I needed a commercial license because I had 6 lug axles. My Trailer had two axles. He said I needed a commercial license because the trailer was rated at 12K. I said no here it is stamped and labelled 9,999 lbs GVWR. He said I had two 6 lug axle so that's 12K. NO its rated by the manufacturer as 9,999 lbs.. we argued back and forth then he said That I could "potentially" tow 12,000 lbs. I asked him, I broke the law because I could "potentially" tow 12,000 lbs. in your mind? Asked him to see the Law.............. NOPE he could not and or would not. He said just don't come back to California again with this rig COMBO AGAIN. That was 2006. I've bought several snowcats over the years since and spent well over 250K since and not one penny was spent in CALIFORNIA. Never will I buy anything in California again. Wont drive there wont buy there.

As many of you may have heard, the Supreme Court announced it has overturned the Chevron Deference...which takes the teeth out of regulatory agencies making up their own rules (regulations) and enforcing them as if they are laws. I would be curious to know how this decision will affect state run agencies like CARB, etc. Hopefully this ruling will provide a precedent for some much needed relief for California businesses.

In 2019, DMV wanted over $1100 for an annual registration renewal on my 2018 RAM 3500 dually. We had purchased our property in Idaho in 2017 becaus we we saw the writing on the wall. I said screw it, registered it in Idaho for $119. My wife and I were life long Californians, but enough was enough. We realized we weren't the kind of people the politicians wanted in the state. The place is so broken, it will never get fixed. They can have it.
I see a lot of UHAUL trucks driving around in the State of California with license plates from other States. The UHAUL corporation is registering in other States where it is cheaper, and a smog is not required.
If you live in California do not buy a vehicle in another State expecting to register it in California. The DMV will not register it here. It has to be 50 State smog compliant, and meet California smog requirements. The Federal State smog requirement is not good enough. They have a bunch of rules. A violation of interstate commerce. Newsom has made California a Communist State.

The reason is because the registration, and insurance is much cheaper. The high vehicle registration fees set by the current Democrat lawmakers are too high. The lawmakers have created the problem, and people are now skirting around the fees they have set in place. The high registration fees, high gas taxes, and taxes they have imposed on Californians has also led to a poor economy. People no longer have money to spend in the economy here. Look at Oakland.
