What do you think of the aquarium? Should I add botanicals? 🤔

Indian Almond leaves seem like a good addition

Very nice!! Those branches have some extremely pointy and sharp ends. I always make sure that I don't have anything sharp that my betta can run into and injure themselves on.

Nice scape but maybe not for bettas. That thorny bonsai will definitely damage the fins.

Yeah I waited over a week to see if the soil water logged and sunk but its so light it just floated. Still happy with the way it turned out though 👍

@@MrBrightfryed for real tho I good look on Instagram and I’m stunned it looks so good. Don’t forget you can use the substrate for a terrarium 😁

This is why rinsing/presoaking whatever organics/gravels you're going to use is a good idea, gets rid of the dust and makes the organics stay sunk... I'm sure with peat it'll eventually fall apart and turn to muck though, that's pretty much what peat is.

What kind of water do you presoak with?

    • @jaratt85

@@archeogaming just tap water with the chlorine removed works fine.. the thing is you basically want to boil them until they sink for the organics.. gravels if you're pulling them from the wild can be boiled to kill anything that's on them otherwise just wash the muck off.. Store bought gravels should be rinsed out as well. Honestly when first setting up a tank I'll just use tap water and then once everything is together add the chlorine out.

why no top to the aquarium? I thought bettas could jump out.

i think the aquarium pete should be the base layer, then cap it off with gravel or sand. but other than that, the scape turned out good.

Lmao should've wet the substrate beforehand. The scape still turned out great tho!

Haha I know, fail. I left it over a week and was hoping the soil would log with water. More fool me!

I am so glad you showed us this. Makes me feel better knowing other people have to work through their fub ups also. It really only matters about the end result. And your scape looks awful good. Mine leave something to be worried about. I am not good at it and I kill plants.

its said you shouldnt have spikey things in the tank bc of the delicate fins. the bettas u get are bred to have bigger fins than wildforms.
