      Yeah its like he has ON/OFF switch. Well shrimp have been evacuated. You won't believe but yesterday i noticed a tiny shrimplets hidden below the wood. So some of them survived, but i don't think many and he was so tiny i can't catch him.

    Drip acclimation is usually a bad idea, it can kill a lot of fish. Their transport water isn't in good condition and they need to get out of it as soon as possible. The bag should just be floated for 20 minutes.

    • @IMaqua
      @IMaqua  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You are correct. In 90% of the cases I will do plop and drop. In the other 10% of the cases if transport water looks clean but parameters of transportation water (temperature and pH) are different from aquarium water I will do drip acclimation.

    Had a wild alien passed away a few months ago after having him for 3 half years was super picky like yours at first and I even had ghost shrimp in my tank ended up killing them and eating them. Thinking about getting another and probably end up getting a similar colored betta to that

    My fish is not accustomed to pellets, so I don't give him food for several days until they are hungry. But after that, he knows how tasty pellet is 😁
    As long as I know, live food such as bloodworm and water fleas are better than pellets

    • @IMaqua
      @IMaqua  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thats one of the ways how to train your fish to dry food. I had different fish and I would say it really depends on their personality; some will refuse dry and some refuse live food. In the end if you keep them without food for few days they can be trained to accept any type of food.

      @@IMaqua Another thing, do wild bettas jump? If I add floating plants would they be able to jump out of the tank still? If so, what type of a lid do you recommend I could make or get.

    • @IMaqua

      Yes all Bettas will jump and I would recommend a lid. The easiest way is to do a DIY from corrugated plastic; I think I showed how to do it in one of my latest fish room build vlogs.

    Thanks for the relaxing video, it’s helping me through some sadness. Your betta reminds me of my smaragdina betta Tlaloc, who’s also very picky. • @IMaqua
      @IMaqua  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are welcome. Unfortunately I also passed through something similar, I diagnosed my previous betta correctly with dropsy but unfortunately there was nothing I could do. I even made a video about it. I fully understand you. Did you start treating your betta already?

    • @kirani111
      @kirani111 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@IMaqua yes, he's in a 2.5 gallon hospital tank but water is very shallow so he can come up and breathe. He has a bit of aquarium salt and I'm treating with furan-2 and kanaplex. So bummed for my little guy, until yesterday he had great appetite and it just looked like he had a small bit of fin rot/fin nipping and a few discolored scales on his head that I thought was a scrape. Three days ago I tested water and it was pristine but did water change anyways, treated with general cure, and removed glowlight tetra tankmates in case they were stressing him. Today he had the dreaded discolored, fuzzy patch :'(

Tlaloc loves his jungle planted tank, his colors were always so bright and when he flares he’s truly stunning. It really helps to know that I’m not the only one. I’ll see how he reacts to treatment but I’m getting clove oil in case he gets worse by tomorrow. I would be so happy if he recovered, but for now I just wish he’ll have a peaceful and painless death. Do you currently recommend that a male betta imbellis (not betta splendens) be compatible or suitable in an 55 gallon community aquarium?

    • @IMaqua
      @IMaqua  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it could definitely work, tank is big enough. But make sure to add Betta Imbellis last. You said community tank, what kind of fish do you have inside? That is something that should be taken into consideration.

    • @rahimali6957
      @rahimali6957 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@IMaqua Currently, my 55 gallon community freshwater fish that I have is L183 Snowball Pleco, African Butterfly fish, Peacock eel, Albino Dojo loach (Is adapted now in tropical conditions in my aquarium), one Blue Vampire Shrimp. Also, and maybe 3-4 discus (not really sure if discus would be ideal to my aquarium)

    • @IMaqua
      @IMaqua  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Personally I wouldn't keep betta with discus. Although there are fish keepers who do keep them together, take into consideration that discus need tank that is more taller and betta need tank that is more shallow. The rest of the fish are ok, and its a pretty big tank so I think it should work especially with Betta Imbellis. But as you saw from my example they are not always "friendly and peaceful" but that has to do more with a fact that my tank is only 8 gallons.

    • @IMaqua
      @IMaqua  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Plants are always good, I mean every tank should have natural plants, filter and a heater. Betta Imbellis character is different than Betta Splendens, they are much more skittish, shy and "wild" but they are interested in their own way. But 55gal is big enough, i am sure he will find his own corner and territory inside such a big tank.
