I have a 2024 fpace SVR with the same engine. To get the pops and bangs on the overflow, you have to feather the throttle right at or slightly above 3k rpm. (Between 3k-3200) it’s still very loud and very obnoxious. It’s a burble and some sharp pops. Very fun. Also, not sure if you guys were driving in S mode or regular D mode (not the same as in dynamic vs comfort) You have to pull back on the shifter to get into S mode and it makes the throttle response sharper etc and the 3k rpm overflow pops and bang happen very easy with it on. Great car. Love it. It’s super fast. My SUV is almost 5k lbs and I hit 60 in 3.8 seconds. Your convertible is like a thousand pounds lighter. It has to be fast af.
I bought a 2014 F-Type R (RWD coupe) last year and I absolutely love that car. Totally agree that the original iteration is prettier, never been a fan of the facelift. Apart from the infotainment - there's not a lot actually different 10 years later - if you can get a 2nd hand one, they're amazing, hilarious, raucus cars and they deserve to be celebrated :)
That is not true at all. There are lots of little changes, and some larger. The new R certainly handles better due to receiving the SVR suspension setup, and has more power. Upgraded plastic piping less failure prone, no rusting of cross members underneath, no sticky buttons to deal with, improved materials inside generally, better tech, no issues with water Ingress through hood vents like earlier cars leading to injector problems, etc etc…Even the exhaust by some is viewed as a better setup…A little more grownup with less burble tune, but still loud enough as can be seen in this video. Won’t have the failed cats to go along with the previous nonsense either. There’s more improvements then that. It’s normal for a car to naturally refine throughout its run. This is the best F-type ever objectively. Especially if you prefer the more up-to-date design too, which I personally do, but that’s subjective.
My Dad is from England and my Mum from Ireland....I was trained how to use roundabouts properly...you know...signals and yielding lol I love seeing you guys driving around my area :)
I’ve driven every variety of the F-type except the one in this video. Even the regular S version is fun, and the Rs are a riot. Easily the best all around 40-60k used sports car in North America. Reliability is no worse than the Germans either. The AMG GTs are now getting quite affordable too, and is more of a true sports car. But I think you can get still get a lot more for your money with the F-type, and the earlier gen is still a complete stunner. New ones never did it for me cosmetically.
They sound even better in person. I find all the video never really do a great job of really capturing how great it really sounds in person. Definitely doesn’t do it justice.
I own one (just not the convertible) and I can say that without a doubt she is fun. Just a super fun car to get out on the road. She is pretty and loud and upsets the Karens (which is a plus). Definitely worth every penny.
I've owned the first 2014 v6s till date and it's the best car ive owned and also one of the best sports cars of all time in my opinion, way better than a 911 in terms of comfort, sound and looks and I've owned a 911 aswell.
I just picked up 2018 R-Dynamic (380 HP) AWD convertible with only 6K miles for $51K (Certified warranty). Original MSRP was $101K. I was originally hoping for a V8, but this has plenty of power . . . and lots of pops and bangs. I agree that it's more of a grand tourer than true sports car, but that's OK with me. I also like the original front end/headlight design better as well.
Had this as my first "real" sports car. A 2017 R awd. Moved to a 2019 Vantage, and then settled on my 997.2 911 gts. I still miss this car. Thinking of getting rid of the 911 and grabbing a 2015 R with RWD at some point. Something really magical about this engine.
I had a 2013 991. A scalpel but soulless. I bought the 2015 F-Type R based on Savage Geese recommendation that it is God car. The F-Type truly is smiles for miles. It is sooo obnoxious but everyone loves it. Heads still break as it drives by. Get the old style and update the grill and you will be super happy.
On my second R, the coup is far more usable. Practically a hatchback with a big lift back trunk. I've put 4 50lb bags of feed in it The rear end also looks better that way
Sad to see the F-Type go the way of the dodo. What a machine! I love that supercharged V8, its timeless design and the crazy over the top exhaust note. I guess I'll just have to buy one! Thanks for the review guys. And many thanks to Jaguar for making my investment possible. 🙂
I'm glad I don't have the money to afford this because choosing between it and an LC500 is way too difficult, both such beautiful and comfortable cars.
@@thepro08you're thinking from the viewpoint of a person too poor to buy such vehicles. a man with money to burn cares less about reliability and servicing than your average dude. he wants a better experience is all. Whether this feels better than an lc500 is another discourse
@huleyn135 if they were free, I would take the Lexus. It's far more unique and different in character, and I prefer the design. I like the refinement of the LC, and very much dislike cars with "make the exhaust louder" buttons. Also, a car with reliability issues will cause the owner headaches regardless of whether or not they can afford the services.
I know this isn't the same car, but I love my 2013 XJL. It's beautiful; the materials inside are leather and wood, and each of the four seats has a hot and cold feature. There is a 'sport' mode that really gets it going for such a big car.
I have a 2015 R w/ a lot of performance upgrades from VelocityAP. From 490BHP - 660 BHP w/ lighter wheels, brakes and progressive rate springs for a total of $60k with the car included!! It's done 83k miles, and so far, been super reliable. I do my own maintenance on all my cars but I've barely done any on the jaaag
All F-types are just gorgeous. People are gonna start being able to get some of the good early ones for pennies compared to their original MSRP, and you should if you're able
I owned two f-type roadsters( 2wd V8S then awd R) before switching to ‘24 LC500 convertible. Agree with u guys. Lexus is a more grown up option (hey I’m getting older!), built like a tank and way more refined . I prefer the sound of the Lexus too, none of the fake jaguar farts, just a nascar sounding NA V8 that likes to rev. Also owned a Boxster S and 911 before those, would never go back to Porsche, options policy is nuts and perfection can be boring. Great video again!
Lol, I was like "who's Tom?" That gets me thinking though... They should to do an "I'm Tom, and I'm Jim" intro for Extra Throttle House. Would be so unsettling, haha.
@@robertcapozello4789 it’s not off center at all. You do know the Jaguar symbol is on that is jumping. Guessing you a Lamborghini or Ferrari badge would bother you as well.
The Rolls is the one you drive to the estate in the countryside. The Aston is the one you drive into the city for the evening. The Porsche you take to the track. But the one you drive for fun? That’s the Jaguar. It’s nice enough you can show you’ve become someone but not that you’ve put on airs. You drive it because it has quirks and personality. Maybe you put on the driving gloves. Not because they’re really necessary but because it makes you feel like a driver. The Jag is that car.
Bought a 2024 AWD F-Type 75 P450. Amazing sound and looks! Get 'em while you can!! Also, you're supposed to open/lift and close the hood from the center and not the sides as it can cause panel gap issues. Read the manual, lol.
Lucky owner of a very rare V6 manual transmission F-type here. IMO the best package for daily driving on curvy roads. And it sounds as awesome as it looks!
The 2015 R was the only car that made me smile more than a 911. The exhaust, the supercharger whine, so visceral and fun. Amazing interior, for a Mazda…. My 911 has gone up in value. Nuff said.
I'm so glad you made this video. I have an XJL Supercharged and I'm considering trading it for an F-type V8 S with the same engine. I feel like this is the perfect convertible sports car.

that ending was unexpected. F stands for F................. (the end). i love jags the way they look and sound. its one of a kind. gonna miss them for sure.
While driving my 2021 F-type R, it occurred to me that if the F-type were a dog, it would be an English bull Terrier. Powerful, engaging, and just plain fun,you would be hard pressed to think of a vehicle that has aged better. The F-type always makes the driver feel special without shouting look at me.
The two cars I have that get the most attention are my 2016 R cab and my 1986 gold convertible C4 Corvette. The R is one of the most beautiful cars ever made.
Great video. Regarding when the V8 F Types became all wheel drive, in U.S. model years the first V8 Ftype was in 2014 and badged as an F-Type V8 S. The next year 2015, they changed it to the F-Type R. The following year, 2016 the F Type R’s received all wheel drive.
Saving every penny I can to try to buy one of these before they're gone for good For me personally, the AWD, high-power 2-seater is literally the perfect vehicle, and this is basically the only one left on the market Gonna be a pretty big push to get out from under the loan on my Type S, but I swear on JLR's grave I'm gonna make it happen
"Go away. Entitled Millennials!" Classic James quip. Priceless. Sad farewell to the last Supercharged V8 Jag F-Type. If only Ian Callum could decide Jaguar's fate!
Thomas , Thomas .as an owner of both an XJl although it is a 2011 supercharged and it is long limo tank .. my Lc500 full trim can not hold a candle to the XJL with only 480hp . The jag is just on another level of fast that doesnt feel quick . But when u watch that speedo it’s amazing how fast it pulls . And you are absolutely correct about the interior of the LC . Flawless and secondary to this .. however the XJl rounded front , the wood and everything is just amazing in its own way also !
@@Petrol_and_CabernetYou found an example of a car with better depreciation than a Vantage that also happens to be a car KNOWN for its lack of depreciation. The Panamera on the other hand loses half its value over 5 years and the less said about the Taycan the better.
I have a V8s cabriolet since 2015, bought if used at around 24k kilometers. Now it sits at 75, for several reasons I didn't get to drive it as much altough it's my "daily driver". Thought about selling it last year for an exige (which would be very hard to daily, especially since I'm probably almost to tall for it). However for now I have decided that I will still keep it a couple of years. It has been nothing but great and is still a lot of fun, everytime I use it. I would recommend it over any car. Almost bought a c7 back then over it, so glad that I didn't.
LOVE my '16 F-Type R WITH pops and bangs still in place. :) Lower pulley upgrade and tune and I'm rocking 650HP at 4 wheels...plus, she gets looks everywhere I go.
I saw a TH-camr changed out the pulley and yes, 100hp more according to him. I plan to do the same to mine but not while she's still under warranty. Click my Avatar to see mine at the drag strip.

We bought a used 2015 F-Type R several years ago and owned it for a year, but I became afraid of it. Nothing broke, nothing failed, I loved driving it, and Loved its first-generation looks, and if I was rich, I would still own it. I discovered that when you buy a used supercar, you'll be treated as though you bought it new - and are charged accordingly. Broken headlight? $4,000. Need an engine? $20K for a used one with an unknown history - installation not included. We ran over a piece of road debris that was stupid expensive for the slight damage it caused. Point being, when someone buys a used supercar - any supercar - it will saddle the new owner with expense commensurate with its new cost. I had inadvertently swum to the deep end of the pool and had to reluctantly let it go to get back to my more pedestrian lifestyle.
I'm keeping my 2016 F-Type R until the wheels literally fall off. The stigma around the marque made it really cheap to own, but it really is about as reliable, or even more so, than your typical German luxury brand. I take mine to the track and the canyons all the time, and it's just a blast. Most underrated car of the decade, I reckon.
Nice review and fair. I've just got back from a little country drive in my 2014 V8S. I've had it one year and was thinking maybe a Boxster 4.0 is the next move but it's a lot more money and the Jag has character in abundance which I'm not sure the Boxster does (which I say as someone who loved his 987 Boxster S). I think the difference is in the Jag you enjoy the engine and the shove while in the Boxster it's more about handling and the chassis. Even though the Boxster has a great engine and the Jag handles pretty well.
I would get this over a 911 without a second thought. Sound and looks amazing nice interior design as well and it’s not something you see everyday. The best car at the price point imo. And when you take into account you can get a used one for less than the price of a new civic
About roundabouts in Canada- when I learned to drive there were no roundabouts anywhere. Then, when I was about 30, every new road construction seemed to include a roundabout. The average driver can barely understand how to operate at a standard yield sign. Throw in roundabouts on 4 lane city streets without warning... it's a miracle more people aren't just smashing through blindly.
I put 35k miles on my F-Type R from 2017-18, almost all on road-trips to the Tail of the Dragon and Coronado Trail and Beartooth Highway and such, absolutely loved it & miss it. British racing green. Have a yellow LC500 now and normally it'd be a fun comparison between the two, but the difference in reliability makes it not even a question which one I'd prefer to keep long term
My take on LC vs F-Type is the F-Type is faster and sounds and handles a little better, both feel extremely special and look fantastic and sound wonderful, the LC is much more reliable and practical (so much more storage space and more comfortable seats) and has a way, way nicer interior. I recommend doing what I did and own an F-Type til it gets out of warranty and then get an LC long term. That said, even under warranty it was tough with the Jaguar being at the dealership for entire months plural of the 15 I owned it - and mine didn't even have any major issues. Coolant leak, e-diff unavailable warning light always on they couldn't ever fix it despite multiple attempts, sunroof stuck, AC stopped working, etc etc.
@@snowsenses That's sheer nonsense. F-Type doesn't have a "sunroof" that gets stuck. Obviously, you never owned it brand new and are making fake comments about alleged reliability issues. I have owned and continue to own two Jaguar AJ133 V8s, including an F-Type, from custom order. If you buy them new and keep them for 5+ years as the original owner, and not as a cheap-ass used car buyer picking up neglected cars, they have essentially no reliability issues. Earlier AJ133 models had plastic coolant pipes that had to be replaced earlier than desirable, but that's still within normal wear and tear for an engine that runs higher op temp than most of its competitors. Jag V8s, for example, are far more reliable than any of BMW V8s and Merc V8s in current production. I also own a brand-new 992 911, which, quite frankly, had a surprising amount of build quality issues that sneaked past factory quality control and still suffer from random rattles that pop up continuously. The Jags, when picked up brand new and owned for many years, never had such QC issues, compared to even Porsche 992. As for LC500, that car is primarily liked by people who do not understand engineering. The LC's body structure is damn cheap - all steel. Suspension parts and most vehicle components are shared from RC parts bin. Toyota only made the interior to look nice, while cheapening on the chassis material and suspension components. That's why the LC is so much heavier than even the RWD V8 F-Type by several hundred pounds. It's an inferior car to the all-aluminum riveted and bonded F-Type, from sheer automotive engineering perspective. The F-Type is built like an aircraft fuselage on the ground, with no cost savings on the suspension components and chassis materials.
"you know what F stands for?..." Briliant review! Former F Type R (2016 coupe) owner here. Pretty much everything is on the money. Terrific used car buy. My personal choice would be a coupe from 2018-2020 though. Thank you for the video!
Former Type V8 RWD here. It was a great car but the sticky interior buttons was such a let down. Glad I had it for a few but also glad I got rid of it. Fun and pretty.
Several manufacturers at the time had the same button problem due to shared suppliers. Regardless, I get how annoying it must have been, but it’s not like it’s not an addressable issue if someone really likes the car otherwise. People replaced the buttons with the new version of them, or somehow safely removed the problematic coating. The newer versions of the car don’t have the problem at all any more. Just thought I’d clearly state all this for the benefit of people who might be shopping the F-Type.

My god that thing sounds ANGRY! That’s so awesome
My Dad is from England and my Mum from Ireland....I was trained how to use roundabouts properly...you know...signals and yielding lol
I love seeing you guys driving around my area :)
You guys and Cammisa should be the new Grand Tour trio.
That's a FANTASTIC idea
that would be a bang.
I support this movement!
the show would turn into a over edited mix of the hagerty drag races and the many failed top gear trio’s. Leave this channel alone and love it…
They are not even close to The original cast 😅😂
5:04 i was NOT expecting this car to sound so good omg
those bangs are almost as loud as a dad's sneeze
They sound even better in person. I find all the video never really do a great job of really capturing how great it really sounds in person. Definitely doesn’t do it justice.
I own one (just not the convertible) and I can say that without a doubt she is fun.
Just a super fun car to get out on the road. She is pretty and loud and upsets the Karens (which is a plus). Definitely worth every penny.
Love my F Type. Instead of a LC500 or 911 rival I think of it as a modern TVR Chimera.
Congrats! I’ve driven both, and the 6 cylinder has a better exhaust note.
prepare your HOLE
I've put 4 50lb bags of feed in it
The rear end also looks better that way
Sad to see the F-Type go the way of the dodo. What a machine! I love that supercharged V8, its timeless design and the crazy over the top exhaust note. I guess I'll just have to buy one! Thanks for the review guys. And many thanks to Jaguar for making my investment possible. 🙂
I'm glad I don't have the money to afford this because choosing between it and an LC500 is way too difficult, both such beautiful and comfortable cars.
fr! I'd probably take the Jaaag. Wish I had the money for all of them!
The Lexus would be the easiest choice in the world for me.
i would go lc500 for sure. you cant overlook reliability you just cant specialy when you spending good money.
Heads up, Thomas and James… Doug Demuro named dropped Throttle House 3 days ago in his favourite 🚗 TH-camr’s video. 🙌🏼
doug still going? TH killing the game so much i never watch doug stuff in years
people hardly watch doug these days, his content pales in comparison to channels like this and savagegeese
Doug has his place, but I could never get into his stuff. I felt like I was watching a knockoff Jay Leno's Garage on DVD from TEMU.
Well put lol @@Mr.ATGATT
😂😂😂@@Mr.ATGATT
I have a 2015 R w/ a lot of performance upgrades from VelocityAP. From 490BHP - 660 BHP w/ lighter wheels, brakes and progressive rate springs for a total of $60k with the car included!! It's done 83k miles, and so far, been super reliable. I do my own maintenance on all my cars but I've barely done any on the jaaag
All F-types are just gorgeous. People are gonna start being able to get some of the good early ones for pennies compared to their original MSRP, and you should if you're able
Totally agree. Managed to pick up a V6 manual a year ago and it's awesome!
@@JWL-UK Any time I see an F-type I crane my neck still, and I'm driving an Aston DB9 😂 that's some serious staying power
Love my F Type. Don't care that it's not the R. As Clarkson said, the V-6 is plenty. I agree.
"Jag F Type R" damn Tom sounded like Clarkson for a minute there.
Lol, I was like "who's Tom?" That gets me thinking though... They should to do an "I'm Tom, and I'm Jim" intro for Extra Throttle House. Would be so unsettling, haha.
bro been warping into him for a minute there
I have a Project 7 and it’s insane. The banging on the downshift is so loud and sooo much fun.
The off center airbag/horn would drive me bananas.
You have issues.
@@robertcapozello4789 what?
I noticed that too, looks strange wobbling about
Ayyyy...I'm NOT the only one?!
Bought this car a month ago and OMG.. Coming from an S5 convertible...Love the "JAggggggg"
Yes Sir...she is awesome! I have both the F-Type R and F-Pace SVR...Sweet...
Bought a 2024 AWD F-Type 75 P450. Amazing sound and looks! Get 'em while you can!!
Also, you're supposed to open/lift and close the hood from the center and not the sides as it can cause panel gap issues. Read the manual, lol.
Congrats! Also bought a 2024 F-Type 75 P450 RWD. Which color did you go for?
@@trentox6713 Congrats to you as well. Carpathian Grey but I have Expel Stealth full PPF installed that gives it a sinister satin finish.
Beautiful lines. Looks like a lot of fun
First gen values are mad appealing. Very tempted to scoop up a V8 in a year or two. V6 Ss can be found in the mid $20,000s!!!
To think, the F Type was first reviewed by Clarkson... on Top Gear.
It's had one hell of a good run, considering the sales numbers. RIP F Type.
The manual Vantage and F-type are two of my favorite cars.
The manual F-type is awesome. Rare but a real bargain.
Lucky owner of a very rare V6 manual transmission F-type here. IMO the best package for daily driving on curvy roads. And it sounds as awesome as it looks!
Same Here! Super rare and completely amazing combo! :-D
@@nownotlater nice! What year is yours? Are you in the States?
The 2015 R was the only car that made me smile more than a 911. The exhaust, the supercharger whine, so visceral and fun. Amazing interior, for a Mazda…. My 911 has gone up in value.
Nuff said.
The F type R is one of my favorite cars. Had a Vette and a 911. The type R was way more fun and rare than the others!
HELL YEA ITS LUNCHTIME AND EXTRA THROTTLE HOUSE TIME AS WELL!!!!
Ive been to the factory to see these being built. So cool seeing them come together
I'm so glad you made this video. I have an XJL Supercharged and I'm considering trading it for an F-type V8 S with the same engine. I feel like this is the perfect convertible sports car.
Don’t trade. just add. You’ll have the best of all worlds.
I have coveted this car since it was released. This is a dream car for me, I absolutely love everything about these things. One day... or not, lol! Entertaining as always gents, keep up the good work!
I picked up a 2016 R with 33 K miles for 38K. My wife immediately ran off with it.
that ending was unexpected. F stands for F................. (the end). i love jags the way they look and sound. its one of a kind. gonna miss them for sure.
I got my 2017 SVR for $54k.. which still blows my mind! Bargain of the century
Please do a $40-50k car video with the old jag f type, the car is so much more raw and fun
You guys are one of the highlights of each week!
Only channel to genuinely bring a smile to my face 🐐
IM GONNA MISS THE F TYPE R SO MUCH!!! LONG LIVE THE V8 ENGINE!!!!!
man you guys are looking pretty jacked 💪
Saving every penny I can to try to buy one of these before they're gone for good
For me personally, the AWD, high-power 2-seater is literally the perfect vehicle, and this is basically the only one left on the market
Gonna be a pretty big push to get out from under the loan on my Type S, but I swear on JLR's grave I'm gonna make it happen
Wow that first shot of it drop top is amazing, first modern car I've seen to have older car beauty
Also a discount Aston is any Aston that is 12 months old. Only lettuce depreciates faster that an Aston.
Or a British Prime Minister...
Don't be daft. They depreciate in line with most exotic brands.
@@gw7624 Compare a Vantage to a 911 on depreciation.
@@psmithard Yeah, good one. You must be a right laugh.
@@Petrol_and_CabernetYou found an example of a car with better depreciation than a Vantage that also happens to be a car KNOWN for its lack of depreciation. The Panamera on the other hand loses half its value over 5 years and the less said about the Taycan the better.
Having owned both 6/8cyl XJ-Rs (married with 2 kids) in the 90s, watching these lads driving the last Ftype I suddenly feel very old....
Timeless beautify in an endlessly fun car. Proper description of the F-Type😁
@@CatNMrDJ Nice cat. I've not hit the strip yet, but will soon and report back. Your video is right in that launch is tough in these regarding ramping RPMs for takeoff, but when it connects it's gone.

I have a 2014 F type v6 s (hydraulic steering, original looks..), couldn't be happier with it
Want to get these new seats in mine though
I have those same seats in my Evoque. THE most comfortable seats EVER!!!!
I had inadvertently swum to the deep end of the pool and had to reluctantly let it go to get back to my more pedestrian lifestyle.
got my self a weekend ftype with v6s the sound is glorious
I'm keeping my 2016 F-Type R until the wheels literally fall off. The stigma around the marque made it really cheap to own, but it really is about as reliable, or even more so, than your typical German luxury brand. I take mine to the track and the canyons all the time, and it's just a blast. Most underrated car of the decade, I reckon.
former owner of the 2016 F Type R Coupe. Amazing car...and free if it's a lemon! :)
Same here, keeping my rare V6 manual 2018 for as long as I can 😉
Nice review and fair.
I was just looking at jaguar ftype v6s on the used market closely and this video dropped... is this a sign? 😉
I love this car. Possibly my next car. I have the 2014 V6 and its been really awesome! I sold my Porsche for the F-Type. Way more fun.
I'm stoked it's got no "burble" yet all that drama and shift slaps
"you know what F stands for?..." Briliant review! Former F Type R (2016 coupe) owner here. Pretty much everything is on the money. Terrific used car buy. My personal choice would be a coupe from 2018-2020 though. Thank you for the video!
What a cliffhanger. I hope we hear what the F stands for in their next video
You guys dealing with the seatbelt at the beginning was very funny
I doubt it, but just in case… who’s here after Shane Gillis and Ari Shaffir roasted these two guys on JRE? Saying that they sound and look like they’re about to s**k each other off 🤣
I've tried renting one of these 3 times over the years. In every instance a couple days before I was going to pick it up, I got a notification it wasn't available because it was in the shop.
Doesn't seem to stop the LR addiction.
