    I love these outdoor tests. This is exactly how people use the phones - 5G network, a lot of heat from the sun (especially in summer), pushing the device to it's limits with recording in such conditions, cranking up the brightness and so on! Thank you!

      Unfortunately we are not left with many options in the Android world and I am definitely not going to Apple any time soon (if ever).
      It might have to do with the fact that the population globally is ageing (people live for longer whilst birthrates are going down, hence more older people in the world) and people need bigger screens to see better.

    This was a great comprehensive real world comparison. Probably the best I've seen on TH-cam. I'm typing this on my Pixel 6 looking to upgrade soon. Would you please do a comparison between the Pixel 9 pro and the XL? Google claims everything is the same except for the battery and display size so I'd like to see if that makes much of a difference before I upgrade. Or maybe just wait another year for the TSMC made chips for the Pixel 10 series?

    • @techmo2020
      @techmo2020  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Sure thing, the problem is Pixel 9 Pro will be released mid Sept and I'm waiting for mine. Other channels get the phone from Google directly, so maybe check their reviews first. I had Pixel 6, Pixel 9 is a significant jump in terms of quality, camera, and battery since your phone is a bit old. At the same time I agree the real value will be with Pixel 10, it depends if you need a phone now or can wait a year :) Also if you wanna get one, go for Pro, better cooling, better camera, and better LTPO display.

  • @prnva_

    This is what is a real comparison is, none of that benchmarks nonsense. Raw performance doesn't matter much.

    Hopefully this is carried over to the 9a.

    • @oldbot64

  • @kornenator
    @kornenator 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    That is a big difference in usage time between the two. I was hoping for the S24 to be more efficient, but i guess the much smaller battery does matter. Wish they would make it just slightly thicker to fit in a 4500 at least in the S25.

    Every time I see this standard Pixel 9, I can't get it out of my head that it's just a Pixel 8 Pro in a new chassis and a compact size, but mostly without the 5X zoom sensor and without the Pro Camera 📸 features 🤔
    And as much as I can't justify the iPhone 15 with its 60 hertz screen in 2024, I can't justify this Pixel 9 at its price with its processor at the level of processors dating back 3 years (8 Gen 1 / 8+ Gen 1 / A14) .
    And for me, iPhone 14 Pro / Pro Max and S23 / S23 Plus are currently much better deals than both smartphones I mentioned above, especially the S23 Plus whose size (unlike the standard S23 and iPhone 14 Pro / Pro Max) is much closer to that of the standard Pixel 9.
    🙏🏽
    Ps: use the Google Photo magic eraser on any other smartphone and you will have the same result and speed as on the Pixel 9, it's not a matter of processor, but rather of software.

    Exynos 2400 and 2200 run very hot and that mean faster battery drain. I bet SD cpu would run more power efficiently.

    So no issues at all with dropped calls? I did the grave mistake of making my parents switch to Pixel 7 and Pixel 7a and (in Vienna with Drei, and YESSS) they constantly drop calls in areas where NO other phones has/had any problems. (They do show fine signal but the calls just drop).

    Shutter lag alone (not that there aren't many other camera problems) and weak vibration on S24 series makes those devices pretty much worthless. Unusable photos of moving subjects and a lot of missed calls and notifications. On "flagship" devices. In 2024. Should not be acceptable.

    Are you processing the ai things on the s24 on-device? There is a setting where you can get much faster and more accurate results by using cloud computing. Google pixel uses cloud computing for ai stuffs, unlike Samsung you can't really control what is sent and what is on device

    S24 is a 10 core exynos
    pixel 9 is a 8 core exynos with lower clock speed
    to compare mid class hardware vs higher performance hardware and different core setups makes sense?
    basicly 2 cores removed in the tensor 4 and lower performance use lower watt power.
    fell free to make a video about power consumption of SD8+ SD7 and PIXEL 9
    all tree 8 cores.
    2 phones with low clocked 8 cores
    1 phone with high clocked 8 cores

    3:33 for those who are wondering about rainbow effect on screen it is because both of them having terrible PWM dimming, not good for human eyes, to fix this we are needed to get ourselves the Phone which doesn't use Scamsung display panel, hence no iPhone, no scamsung , no pixel, chinese companies like Xiaomi,honor,1+,vivo etc are good others are not good for any human eye!!

      Yes, but I want a phone with at least somewhat existing customer support.
      Besides-shocking, I know-but currently the cheapest phones with actually good camera are from these 3 brands. Any Xiaomi, Honor, Vivo that has similar camera to S24 or P8, is more expensive than them.

    • @techmo2020
      @techmo2020  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Even though I agree companies should work on PWM, specially Pixel 9, the rainbow effect is because I'm using ND filter and not because of PWM. Many modern phone screens, especially OLED and some LCDs, use polarized light. When you add an ND filter, which can have its own polarizing properties or interact with light in a specific way, it can create interference patterns, resulting in a rainbow effect. I still don't know how to remove this effect from screens when I'm shooting a video in daylight.
