I've had the Pixel 9 Pro XL now for three days, and I've also had the S24+, and I can truly say that the XL's camera is better, though the S24+ camera is "a tick" behind the XL, but my overall opinion is that the S24+ "is an overall better phone...my Pixel has had lag in some apps, and it is slower

Strange... Samsung has always seemed laggy to me when coming from Pixels lol. I have the Fold 4 currently and even my 6 Pro XL seems quicker. I don't game heavily though and I'm not a power user by any measure. Either way I appreciate you sharing your experience. Both phones you can't go wrong. I'm always switching from Samsung to Pixels. Right now I have the s24plus. When it's time for an upgrade I will get the lastest pixel xl.
Good review. I had something like 15 Samsung phones in last 20 years from Note 1 up. I was thinking about updating S23+ and thought about changing to Pixel Pro, simply because all Samsung phones in UK are now sold with Exynos chip set instead of Qualcomm (poorer performance). You helped me to stick with Samsung.

I can't figure this out? My call screening only works with my saved numbers. If a random person calls me it shows the number only with no name or business at all? Is this the way it works? JW

The only way we can see what you see is the brightness needs to be the same on both phones you said the pixel was 100% and the Samsung was at 50% that's what I was waiting to see
Per GSM arena screen test, S24+ max brightness was 781 nits manual and 1452 nits auto. 9 Pro XL max brightness was 1333 nits manual and 2365 nits auto. The S4+ set to 50% brightness shouldn't be equal to the 9 Pro XL set to 100% brightness.

Does your Pixel have a warmer screen tone compared to the S24 Plus? I have both and I prefer the color temperature of the S24 Plus. Whites look yellowish on the Pixel. I agree with you that the Pixel doesn't get as bright as the S24 Plus indoors. Great video! Thank you!

I came from a galaxy s22 to the Pixel 9 pro and in all honesty I preferred the screen on the Galaxy. Like you said, indoors the galaxy just looked so much better.

Damn. The brightness and how dim the screen looks on the Pixel is one of the biggest reasons I hardly used my 7 Pro back when I had it. I don't turn my brightness sliders up barely any on my phones as I prefer them not too bright and it seems to eat up the battery too much. My S22 Ultra always looked super punchy and nice with the slider at like 30% with Extra Brightness on, but the Pixel slider I had to turn up much higher to even get close to the screen brightness on the Galaxy. Was really hoping this would have been fixed with the new Pixels....
This seems to be the more appropriate comparison. The XL & Ultra ain’t even a comparison. Google got too much dip on their chip. A 512GB S24+ is $20 more than the 128 9 Pro XL. That’s insane.
Useful review. A speed test would have been nice while you mentioned it. Instead of just holding the you could show case more of the UI stuff like menus, app screen, etc.

I really do appreciate this comparison. However when recording from your Sony camera, I don't think it does this video much good, especially for the red car video. The pixel looked like it had blown highlights on the white walls and the samsung had the stronger bolder colours

512GB 24+ Samsung was $570.00 (promo and price have expired 09-24-24) . Samsung was a no brainer. I'd expect deals to keep popping up given the s25's are announced in 3 months give or take.
What I dislike in both is that both OS:ses still have that bottom white bar for gesture navigation. Just get rid of it, so I don't need to get 3rd party apps to remove it. I think Asus Zenfones always have this enabled as option, it's just some android versions just refuse to allow you to remove that "gesture hint" or something.
This is the smartest comparison on TH-cam right now. S24 ultra is overkill. I'd go with the S24+ as it wins on camera, price, soc and storage. Pixels are upper midrange devices at best with premium pricing. Until Google puts a worthy soc and larger base storage they will remain a poor value proportion.
The difference is not what it used to be. The point and shoot experience is better on the Pixel but video is better on S24 while not being too far off for pics. Sammy needs to tone down the processing. I agree with the other points though.

Especially in the evening the Pixel 8 Pro was not good enough. I also noted that the Pixel 8 Pro was remarkably slower than the Samsung. The Samsung works smoother and faster. just switched to Pixel pro xl yesterday after a decade + of Samsung phones....what got me over was the deal with Verizon as I got phone for free with 256 Gig...still a little on fence but camera AI features are pretty cool
At first glance yes the 24 ultra (samsungs best) would match up better with googles best (pro 9 xl) but i agree with you that the 24 plus is better match. No way the XL can match the 24 ultra..its just out of its league in so many areas.

95% of people are going to slap a case on the phones anyway, so trying to judge the back of the phone is a bit outdated in my opinion.

Thinking about switching to one of the 2 in a few weeks! Coming from the s23 ultra. Which one should i get? Help me out guys!

2 of the same phones. It comes down too wether you want Google operation system or Samsung sustemsystem. Same phones tho.

At first glance yes the 24 ultra (samsungs best) would match up better with googles best (pro 9 xl) but i agree with you that the 24 plus is better match. No way the XL can match the 24 ultra..its just out of its league in so many areas.
