I see the video knocked for the student being described as average. I would say high average for college bound. But given that 80% of such videos are by superstar students choosing between Harvard, Princeton and Stanford, it is good to see a more down to earth video with more practical reasons for choosing between schools.
honestly, this is giving me so much more confidence in the application process. Im a Junior stressing so much over College and I have similar stats, just hoping I get into a couple of my reaches.
Even if you don't get in, community college is an amazing option and you have a much better chance getting into colleges from there! I'm not sure where you're from, but California community colleges have plans/deals (transfer admission guaranteed programs) with six UC's, so you can easily transfer to UCSB, UCI, UCD, UCR, UCSC, and UCM (ucsb, ucd, and uci are top public schools in the nation) UCB and UCLA which are even more prestigious and recognized worldwide also have programs that make can make admission prioritized for community college students!

Not to knock the video... but it seems that most high school students don't realize that the average unweighted GPA in the U.S. ranges between a 3.0 (for all HS students) and 3.4 (for college bound HS students) on a 4.0 scale. A 3.7 GPA places you in the top 10% of students and, depending upon your SAT or ACT score, makes you competitive in the majority of the top 20 schools. And that aint "average."
I think it depends on your school! At mine, like 1/3 of my class got into NHS (which requires your GPA to be 3.5+ i think) and there were at least 50 more that were qualified and didn't feel like writing the essays.

We have relatively similar stats so this made me a feel a little better. I also didn't take calc but did take pre-calc so I'm a LITTLE worried but ya knowww, we'll get there. Also, I LOVE the spreadsheet Idea and I'm definitely doing that, I'm struggling narrowing down my list so this is great.

For more comp high schools a) colleges realize that which is y really comp colleges dont even compare u to ur hs they compare u to their applicant pool b) more comp high schools are harder to maintain grades in but more ppl do it bc ppl there r j smarter and colleges know that. Depending on ur major and if ur shooting for a top 50 school and ur in a comp hs then like a 3.7-3.75 UW is average and 4.25 W is average w like a SAT of 1450+. If ur shooting a top 30 school then its like 3.85 UW average and 4.4 W average and like 1540+ SAT, which is my school bc students helal smart but teachers hella hard.
Awe thank you. I understand that in regards to the national average I am above that. I titled it as "average" because of how many videos I see like mine with stats that are above a 30 on the ACT and all 4/5s on their AP tests.
My sister is in the CGS London program at Boston and loved it however because of COVID their London trip got cancelled and now they have to take summer courses on line and pay full tuition :(( she loves Boston U but you may have a dodged a bullet just because while she's still on track to graduate she honestly got cheated out of a semester

UW is great school, lots of friends went there, and I live in Seattle, but I'm also an LMU grad, lol. LMU is a fantastic school but SO expensive but its in a great location. Either would have been a great choice and good luck at UW!

All I did was contact the financial aid office and talked about my situation which was that my parents could only afford to pay so much for my education and then they sent my application off for further review. I was then notified that they had given me a $3,000/year scholarship. My advice would be to be super super nice in your email and to ask if there are any other scholarships/ways you could save money in order to attend.

I was given a scholarship that helped me out. Also because I have prior AP test credit, I might be able to graduate a little early and save my family money that way.
Depending on where you live there is also the possibility of doing the WUE program where you can save some money on tuition. :) idk how well to explain it but you can look into it.
I would have had to find a way to make it affordable for my family and me. However, I'm not so sure if I would've gone mainly because I kind of fell out of love with it after doing the summer program there.
