  • hi guys :)
    this video is honestly very hard for me to post HAHA. I didn't apply to that many schools, there's no ivies, and I got some shocking results..but nonetheless I am currently posting this video at 3 am with hopes that someone out there is encouraged and knows that they are not alone in this process. Please Please Please from the bottom of my heart know that your hard work is not defined by your results (but if you got in YOU DESERVE IT). I am so very proud of each and every person that fought through because MAN this was tough.
    I also forgot to mention but I didn't apply to any schools too far/out of California because my mom wanted me to stay close by HAHA
    i hope you guys enjoyed
    - with love, deb

    Loved your video! I’m graduating from college this year as a transfer and I just wanted to tell you that transferring to USC would be really difficult and not something you could hang your hopes on.
    One blessing I’ve had in my senior year here at school is that my younger sister ended up coming to the same college as me! I would really recommend it and spend as much time as possible as you can together before you go on your separate adult ways! She would know all the campus secrets too.
    Good luck with your decision!

    • @aaronnate2980
      @aaronnate2980 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Both have a 12% acceptance rate this year. I think she got the 4% by doing the number of seats in UCLA divided by the number of applicants but that wouldn’t actually determine the acceptance rate because she didn’t consider the yield rate. Either way, both were really hard to get into this year.

    • @sandydavis6117
      @sandydavis6117 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@robjohnston366 USC posted that their acceptance rate is at its lowest, 11.88%… as for UCLA, it’s also somewhere near 12%… where did you get the 10% from?

    • @robjohnston366
      @robjohnston366 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sandydavis6117 Sorry, I just saw the new data. USC accepted 8,198/69,000 apps ~ 11.88%. That is for the incoming class of 2022-23, the USC class of 2026. The admissions stats for UCLA's class of 2026 is unknown at this time. The difference between the class of 2025's and 2026's that we know presently is that there were ~ 149,779 applications for 2026's class and 139,463 for 2025's.
      Let's look at the numbers in detail, with the following format, Enrolled/Accepted/Applied, AR%/Yield%, with the source being UCLA's Common Data Set, with UCLA having ~ 31k undergrads and USC 20k:
      UCLA Class of 2024, entered 2020: 6,386/15,604/108,877, 14.3%/40.9%
      UCLA Class of 2025, entered 2021: 6,587/15,028/139,490, 10.8%/43.8%
      UCLA Class of 2026, entering 2022: ????/?????/149,779, ???/???
      The A/R breakdown by residential cohort is important, for CA, Out-of-State, International the AR%/Yield% were: 10.0%/53.9%, 13.8%/29.3%, 9.0%/34.7%, which come out again to 10.8%/43.8% overall.
      Like USC's the average uwgpa for UCLA incoming freshmen has risen from 3.90 to 3.92 from 2024's to 2025's, with 55% of the incoming frosh having a straight-A 4.00 average for 2025's class.

      @robjohnston366 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sandydavis6117 My post right above yours is not seen, but I did say 10.8% for 2021, class of 2025.

  • @imdva
    @imdva 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    wait would you have to not commit to a school to be kept on UCLA waitlist? I also got waitlisted from a school i wanted to go to, but i dont wanna risk not committing somewhere then also not getting off the waitlist.

    • @robjohnston366
      @robjohnston366 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      UCLA admitted 1,779 of 9,254, 19.2%, who opted in for the waitlist in the academic year, 2020-21. This gave students a lot of hope for 2021-22 that they would go [to] the W/L a lot again. But 2020's admits were affected by COVID, with a lot of people staying closer to home because of the virus. In 2021, UCLA admitted 214/9,897, which was 2.2%. So I think it was just a one-year aberration. I don't see 2022-23 as drawing a lot from the W/Ls either.

    • @imdva
      @imdva 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@robjohnston366 my question was would i have to miss the may 1st deadline of admission most colleges have to get a chance to go to the waitlisted school in the fall. neither was ucla but i’ve already committed to a different school so it doesn’t matter now

    • @robjohnston366
      @robjohnston366 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@imdva I just glanced at your original post and I misread it. I thought you were asking Deb to opt into UCLA's waitlist. If I'm reading your second post correctly, then here's the way to hold out for an admission offer from a university higher on your list.
      If University X accepts you and University Y offers you a spot on its waitlist [to which you opt in], you have to commit to X because May 1st is looming. You then have to pay the deposit for X. Often, if Y takes from its W/L, it will inform you of your acceptance after May 1st. They will then give you a short time to accept its offer. Let's say you do, then you have to pay the deposit for Y, and then inform X that you won't be attending. It's obviously costly because you'll be paying two deposits and your deposit to X will be lost.

    I got accepted into Penn State, Florida State, and Ole miss with a 2.5 and a 1210 SAT, they aren't Ivy, but for a shitty gpa and average SAT I still can't believe I got accepted into
    my top schools. Academia isn't everything and your overall resume and accomplishments can individualize yourself to admissions instead of being a number. Granted, I am
    graduating from an all-male military academy, and I hate to say it, colleges also look at how many kids have applied to the college you want from your school/state/county, and
    they also take gender, and race, instate, out of state into terms. Applying doesn't hurt and maybe you'll be lucky, that's all its applications are nowadays, just luck. It never hurts
    to shoot for the stars, so why not take a chance?
