Hey I want to get into ASU. I'm a senior and currently have a total unweighted GPA of 3.67 and SAT score of 1230. How were you able to get that 40k scholarship? I am middle class and don't have a lot of money and will have to pay for my own college, so the scholarship money would help a lot. Thank you.

Same, I’m currently a junior in high school but in sophomore year, I got 2 D’s and an F in an AP class. Freshman year I did good and currently I’m doing good but I really messed up last year. If it weren’t for the grading system when the pandemic started, I would’ve for sure not passed😅I also relate to the friend thing so much. You have no idea how badly I needed this. I keep finding videos of people going to the craziest schools with the craziest stats. I went to a summer program recently at UMASS Amherst and I just felt dumb compared to so many people there with crazy high scores and aspirations to get into ivy league schools. It was seriously wearing down on me emotionally and made me feel like I was destined for failure. I know I'm not but the amount of geniuses around me and on the internet was really starting to weigh me down a lot. Thank you a ton for this video and good luck with senior year!

As someone who is also tanked their sophomore year, this video has been really reassuring. I feel like I had this golden child thing growing up and that a lot of people expected me to go to an ivy league school, but my stats really aren't there. Instead I chose to have decent mental health, pretty good grades, and a really great social life. Essentially I chose happiness. But now as I'm looking at colleges I'm having regret about how maybe I shouldn't pushed myself more, but it's reassuring to see another semi-average student making one of these videos. Thank you for sharing your experience!

Thank you for making this youtube video on your college application process and stats! This is actually a more realistic and relatable college application video that is not one that just gloats about getting into prestige university with a ''decent'' stats (1400-1600 SAT, 3.7-4.0 GPA). A lot of respect for you coming out on this video and not being ashamed of your stats and college acceptance/rejection. I hope this video can inspire other students to not give up their goals.

As someone who works for an organization that hires from Ivies, top state schools, and traditionally non-target schools, here's a little secret - after a while (it's surprisingly not that long), very few people will actually care what college you attended, and will care more about the values you hold as a person and the skill driven impact you're able to make. I'm personally not a fan of "College Decision" videos - it's a quick train to Depression City if you're someone who suffers from comparison anxiety/syndrome. Also, a lot of these "acceptance" moments seem immensely intimate - between children and their parents. So, I'm not sure why anyone would record that and put it on TH-cam apart from the obvious flex. I guess that's a "me problem". Sure, these videos help students that are trying to break into these schools, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend watching a dramatic vlog for information - better outlets exist.
All that said, if it is your DREAM to attend an Ivy School/(Insert Brand Name School) and you don't get in at the collegiate level, don't get disheartened. You can always apply to said school for graduate studies - I've seen quite a few people from non-Ivy collegiate backgrounds at Ivy Schools for graduate studies.
Congratulations on Penn State and Temple!

Hey, hopefully this isn't too late but I would encourage you to apply early action to schools that care about/ are are able to, especially if they are test optional (as many are this year). The earlier you apply, the more money the schools have to offer, so usually earlier applicants get better offers. Wish you the best of luck just thought give a little advice.

Very good comments about the essays! Yes, it has to be about you and your experiences. A professor told me that my college essay that it was not the best. However, it literally made a few of my friends cry. It was somewhat sentimental. Later, I talked to my admissions officer, and he said that there was no question that I was getting in. There were people who got in to this same school with much stronger experiences. Suffice to say, they did not perform as well academically in college. I believe that my essays were partially responsible for that admission, especially the big one. They told my story of exploration with languages, people, and study abroad,

hey man thank you so much for this calming and motivating video! im currently a rising senior, about to begin my summer before senior year, extremely confused and lowkey burnt out on what to do to polish my extracurriculars and catch up on studies... i think I failed physics in junior year which made me really really concerned and negative. I'm scared I couldn't get accepted to any uni. but this video made me realize that nobody's perfect. I'm not perfect, but that's "perfect"! rather than sulking on my failures and how I could've done better, I should keep my heads up and look into what I CAN do right now whilst being grateful for what I already have. 👍✨

Thank you so much for this I’m only a junior in high school but I’m already stressing about college applications. I have a 3.6 unweighted gpa and 4.2 weighted gpa, I’ve only taken one AP class and got a 3 on the exam, I am in two clubs at my school which I’m really passionate about and I started a book club, I volunteer at a library and plan to do more the summer before senior year and I haven’t taken the SAT but I’m prepping for it especially the math section. I got to a very competitive school and I’m very average compared to everyone else but this makes me feel so much better :) I want to be a detective and help people get justice the right way, I also don’t want to sit around in an office for the rest of my life which is something detectives don’t do thank fully☺️ Again thank you so much for this it brings me comfort that there are people like me getting into colllege☺️

Thank you for making this video. I’m a rising senior and I am more of an average student I have a 3.7 gpa and 1360 sat rn but my extracurriculars are my biggest downside. Seeing all the videos with these kids saying “I’m an average high school student” while having like 20 leadership positions and winning national awards while having perfect gpas and 1500 sat score just trying to show off paint a very unrealistic picture and made me feel so worthless in comparison I was worried I wouldn’t get accepted to any college I applied to just being hard on myself. I’m dreaming of going to Texas A&M since it is the perfect university located not too far and also being very well known and prestigious for engineering. I’m just putting that school as my target and seeing so many overachievers in all social media related to college applications just made me feel so small. I’m glad I saw this video and your advice transcends all the “advice” that those Ivy League show offs try to promote in their videos which portray very unrealistic standards for most high school students. The tips in this video are truly helpful.

The tip you gave for only take classes you can do well in is insanely important as if you simply get mostly A’s and some B’s in high school you can pretty much get into any college that isn’t an Ivy League. Another thing you should have talked about is direct admission, as colleges these days make a lot of money scamming students with the possibility that they will get into their major after getting into the college. Like yes it’s possible, but a lot of these spots in the major are already taken by freshmen who have gotten direct admission into the major, so to sell something with the possibility of it happening is extremely disingenuous from the colleges and should be watched out by high schoolers.
