We need more people like this telling us truth! Just finished reading The 21 Former Doctor Secrets by Rachel Morgan. Its fascinating what they hide from society.
5 yrs after my separation from USMC I was 31 yrs old 308lbs with almost 40% BFP. I have chronic pain from injuries and allowed My daily diet to consist of horrible food substitutes (Taco Bell, chipotle, pizza) I lost 100 lbs in 2 yrs and within 5 yrs was down to 14% bfp. Some major changes I embraced were 1. decide to prioritize your health above all else (I told myself my loved ones deserved me at 100%, not sluggish and unhealthy) 2. create a goal to achieve wellness (written goals helped me focus when the outside nonsense started getting loud) 3. eliminate enablers and naysayers from your day to day life
My parent are both pushing 100 years. They have always been moderate in their consumption, but have eaten a very varied diet. Moderation and variety are the key. Absolutism sucks the joy right out of life.
@@ripmando9578 And you can do everything the authorities tell you and still have a miserable life. We are all an experiment of one, and it behooves us to find out what works for us. Those claiming one size fits all are either naive or snake oil salesmen.
My takeaway from this video is learning to cook is invaluable. One of the very best things you can do if you're serious about eating better food and getting into better shape. You have to make it a habit, and be willing to put in effort.
Absolutely, but you do still need to learn to cook healthy recipes. I learnt to cook from childhood, but I tend to cook rich, heavily sauced European dishes. I am a sucker for a Sunday Roast, or a rich chicken in red wine stew, or caramalised sugar apple with double cream. All home cooked, but not healthy!!

A great way to limit how much junk food you have and avoid these toxic ingredients is to either 1) Make it yourself! You won't feel like doing it as often, or 2) Don't keep it in the house. Instead, have it less often and intentionally overpay when you do have a treat by going to a high quality vendor or restaurant. Farmer's markets are a great place to start! I was able to find a lot of produce where chemicals were not used in the growing process.
Dr. A, I'm a Fit Father Member. I really loved this video. I have a question that people can see to give me a straight answer. Maybe you can. Why do I get irritable and angry after having eaten something high in sugar. Like ice Cream From Cold Stone. (That's just a cheat day treat)

I am fully aware of everything you say and of course, there is a plethora of TH-cam video out there preaching the doom & gloom of foods many people unnaturally crave. (For reasons we both know.) Yet, where I must complement you is that, you don't take such a 100% hard-core attitude. You actually are honest enough (rare in these types of videos), to allow a bit of "wiggle room" on some minor induldegence, in slight moderation, of foods that are not great for you. Plus the fact you plainly, quickly and non 'preachy' explain why a certain food is bad. (In addition to offering healthier option substitutes.) Very refreshing. Much success to you sir.
@skatee99 - Thank YOU for being refreshing too, and noticing what videos like this are actually trying to achieve. My mom cooked all the time. I was lucky to get home cooked food but unf she always encouraged me to get 2nds so I was an overweight child/teen. In high school I took it upon myself to eat less (much to her dismay) and move more fortunately I lived on a ranch so had tons of land to walk on. Now at 40 I am happy healthy weight and run and lift weekly not just to stay fit but for my mental health!
I've been making certain changes working out at my YMCA 2 or 3 times a week and trying to incorporate more vegetables into my diet. The holidays are kind of a setback where I've been eating more sugar, but surprisingly I've been slowly losing weight in spite of that. From late summer I started out at about 260 lb and now I am at 247 lb approximately in spite of holiday eating. I think the newest goal is to greatly cut down on added sugar foods and increase more fruits as well as continuing to make foods that are maybe like 50% meat 40% vegetable and like 10% grains of some kind like rice
Hey Anthony! Wow, what a wonderful, educational video! I stumbled upon your video by coincidence and I am really grateful for the high quality content you are providing free of charge. I love how this video is both entertaining and educational with valuable background information about the foods. I would love to see a part II, 10 more worst foods! ;-) All the best from Germany
Thank your for this very insightful video Dr.A - I always had an idea what foods were good and not good but never really understood "WHY", your in-depth research has really made me understand why we should avoid these foods wherever possible. I have recently changed to organic sourdough bread and have a lot more energy throughout the day as a result of this change- great videos, keep making more!
Grow your own tomatoes and peppers and make fresh tomato sauce! Grow your health! This way you can control how these veggies are grown and that the soil is nutrient rich! I personally think that the best way to improve your health is by growing your own fruits and vegetables! Grow healing herbs too! A fresh baked potato taken from your garden is so much healthier than eating french fries or chips!
Great nutrition very quickly tastes better and much better even, than we think the garbage typically does. After weeks-ish of our body and mind detoxes from bad nutrition to great nutrition - we will be positively shocked to find out how pleasantly this can taste. Eating habits and preferences are learned (even with understandably at times certain unintentional caveats) which means in blessed irony there is no need to be stuck in "that's how we have always done it" mentality. I promise that this is fortunately true. At 38 I was at rock bottom in all areas in life. Including 415 pounds when within a stones throw of my 40s, so to speak. Now 52, my weight is just south of 190. And I am not through with using nutrition as a major tool to a better life. Thank you sir. First time seeing one of your videos. I am about to jump into the teaching and coaching arena myself after being medically sidelined for awhile. Keep doing your content brother and with your good attitude and demeanor. One reason why many people eat poor quality foods is cultural. Example: Filipinos loooove meats (esp. pork) and processed stuff like spam, chips and French fries. Your tips re French fries were excellent. My suggestion to you: a series of food alternatives for differing cultural backgrounds to address the cultural differences.

My body is weak from frying to lose weight. All of my joints are on fire. Even my jaw doesn’t work. I feel like I can’t reverse this. I’ll try to eat better foods. Thank you for this information. 😅
You are wonderful! We've been eating garbage for years! No wonder our health is messed up. I really like the way you tell us the worst, why it is & give us the healthy alternatives! Bravo. Have subscribed. Thank you, I wish more people would do it like you. Healthier me, here I come!
actually I think making your own sour-dough bread is better than buying some kind of low carb stuff. If you make the bread yourself you get to choose high quality organic ingredients plus sour-dough is supposed to be really good for your gut. Bread does´nt have to be low carb to be "ok" i think.
A good video Doc but the problem is where I live in Australia it is very hard to get good organic produce - I do whenever it is available but I have to say I thought that knowing about the chemicals that crops are sprayed with was so prevalent. I wash fresh fruit and vegetables because I know I have seen apples for example being sprayed with heaven knows what in local orchards.
High quality pasta, sauteed fresh veggies (zucchini, tomato, kale, yellow squash, baby bok choy, garlic, peppers, onion, etc.), fresh herbs, top with REAL parmesano-reggiano.... Beautiful dinner in the time it takes to cook the pasta.
Very True. Tried all to changed & substituted all mentioned foods. I maintained my recommended weights & more energies especially going to the gym & walk a lot too. Looks way younger & very healthy skin. However, check with professional health provider ( doctors/ dietician etc) base on all your blood works to know where & what you’re deficiencies before changing your daily intake. Cheers. ❤️😜👍
I appreciate your enthusiasm. A lot of people are being robbed of their quality of life due to our food environment and lack of education. It's sad because most people don't even know or understand this. If they did, grocery stores would look a lot different. Everyone blames finances, politics, family issues, etc on their quality of life, but the reality is that the food is the culprit.
I eat non organic bread, wholegrain and multigrain, I feel great after eating it and my 80 year old father has been eating it all his life and he is in fantastic health, I don't believe it is bad for you at all. Everything else in the video I agree with.
For a lot of older people, the video is wasted. People in nursing homes ànd assisted living are basically held captive when it comes to food. Many of these places feed the people the cheapest food they can get. They are often served processed meats, hot dogs and a lot of fried foods. On top of that, desserts that are high in sugar. And seldom do they serve any kind of vegetables or leafy greens. And of course these people have no way to cook their own foods and make their own. They're stuck with eating whatever is given them. And if they complain they're considered troublemakers or malcontents.
This is good stuff. Been training Muay Thai for 8 years. 18 to 26 now and I have been doing a lot of experimenting with my diet. This answers a lot of my questions. Thanks!!!
LOVE YOUR VIDEO! ❤ Although I don’t fry anything, but just curious if I use same ingredients; such as a good quality olive oil, I’m just not sure the difference of baking chicken/fish, etc… vs to frying. Not sure what to cook with, hope you can help! Thank you!
Basically grease, sugar and salt. Tofurky, tried it once and never again. I love fresh fruit. But I love white bread. Round up? I do like Dave's Killer Bread. Thanks, a lot I knew but have been lax and this helps tremendously to refresh.

My body is weak from frying to lose weight. All of my joints are on fire. Even my jaw doesn’t work.
I feel like I can’t reverse this. I’ll try to eat better foods. Thank you for this information. 😅
Keto
Fast and to the point , Quality information. I appreciate the reasons behind it 👍👍👍 great info thank you!!!!!
Very Informative, I'm looking for more insight and knowledge on different foods. I'll definitely try some of your recommendations thanx
Love this video! I have the knowledge but need to always be reminded!
Thanks for this info! Will have my teens watch this, so they don’t develop the same dietary habits I did growing up 😊
That sounds great @niz392 - I really hope it helps. With videos like this, that's what I can hope for. Best of luck to you and your teens.
Maybe just a few replacements will help.
Thank you!!!!!! I can and WILL do better!
Thank you so much for this invaluable information, greatly appreciated. Greetings
You are wonderful! We've been eating garbage for years! No wonder our health is messed up. I really like the way you tell us the worst, why it is & give us the healthy alternatives! Bravo. Have subscribed. Thank you, I wish more people would do it like you. Healthier me, here I come!
nicely executed video, we are changing our entire grocery list. very informative. Thank you.
actually I think making your own sour-dough bread is better than buying some kind of low carb stuff.
There are aborigine tribe in Australia they have the best healthy food 😊.
🙏
Thanks so much !!! very healthy diet advised.
I really enjoyed this video. Anxious for more . Love your presentation on the foods, good and bad.
Love this. I've been in the FFP for several years and this is a great reminder. Thank you.
Thank you very much 🙏🏼
Very good information
Avoid non-organic strawberries, raspberries and blackberries as they are sprayed with pesticides, etc.
I just avoid strawberries, raspberries and blackberries, makes it easy, and don't miss them.
@@rodterrell304 Both of y'all are dumb. Literally just wash it under water lmao
Organic foods are still covered in pesticides. Just different ones.
@@familyandfriendscommunityc6692 BIgAg got "organic" to mean less.
Wash in baking soda and water. Amazing how dirty the water gets!
I got rid off 90% of these killer so far.Thank you for a good video.
You’re very welcome 🙏🏼
This was a great video. Thank you so very much. This was an outstanding educational video.
Cheers. ❤️😜👍
I just turned 40 and people mistake me for a college student 👨🎓
@@PraveenSrJ01 wow 🤩 good genes 🧬 & healthy living 👍❤️
Absolutely 🙌

Sugar, grains, seed oils.PERIOD
Exactly!
Great video. Sent this around to several friends who badly needed it. God bless
Thank you Doc
I appreciate your enthusiasm. A lot of people are being robbed of their quality of life due to our food environment and lack of education.
It's sad because most people don't even know or understand this. If they did, grocery stores would look a lot different. Everyone blames finances, politics, family issues, etc on their quality of life, but the reality is that the food is the culprit.
Thank you! I appreciate your solid feedback on this! So true 🙏🏼💯
Dude love the channel
I really appreciate that @joshneal7857, thank you!
Such an educational video, full of truths!Yet, very good way of speaking. Thank you so much!
Thanks for this video it's really appreciated 😊
OMG that is depressing - I literally love everything on the list! 😂
😅
Makes me want to stick my head in gravy like a kindergarten baby! Will take some of the advice. Pass the biscuits please!
I can’t let go of ice cream. Hagen Daz. No chemicals and added chemicals. But it’s still bad with all the sugar.
Your addicted to crap!!
Why do you always have to use God's name when you talk...shame on you..
Anything fast food is bad for you like in reality I don’t get humans main reason I stop eating fast food I repeat fast food is the death of us
Your gonna die too bud. Get off your soap box.
Thankyou I have learned alot. Thanks alot. Watching from Bougainville.
Great start for me, thanks for breaking it down.
Thanks. I loved all the extra info about why these things are bad. I was surprised you didn't include soda - it's everywhere.
You're so welcome! I'm glad you found this so helpful :-) Yes agree with soda 🙏
Thanks for vid! Hope all have a blessed year 😊 John 3:16-21
I eat non organic bread, wholegrain and multigrain, I feel great after eating it and my 80 year old father has been eating it all his life and he is in fantastic health, I don't believe it is bad for you at all. Everything else in the video I agree with.
Anecdotal evidence. 🤦🏻♂️
Dr. A has gone full Italian with that hairstyle - I like it!
100% I’m growing it out Italian style 😆 right now I’m in that awkward middle stage. It will eventually look good (I hope lol)
Ezekiel toast with peanut butter and bananas is so good pre workout
👍
@@Fitfatherproject bread at 9 per loaf . is not realistic for most people

Yes… yes it is.
Die at 80 eating delicious and enjoyable food is better deal than die at 90 with a life full of restrictions.
Don’t listen to any of this crap. You can literally eat anything you want, it’s all about portions and fasting
And Moderation.
Great! Thank you very much. I like the video .
Thanks for the video. I need to make some food changes
Jesus is king
This is good stuff. Been training Muay Thai for 8 years. 18 to 26 now and I have been doing a lot of experimenting with my diet. This answers a lot of my questions. Thanks!!!
LOVE YOUR VIDEO! ❤ Although I don’t fry anything, but just curious if I use same ingredients; such as a good quality olive oil,
I’m just not sure the difference of baking chicken/fish, etc… vs to frying. Not sure what to cook with, hope you can help!
Thank you!

This is a very good video. I'm watching it in Ireland where I'm sorry to say, we also have a lot of these unhealthy foods. Thank you for posting it.
great video. glad i came across your channel.
Basically grease, sugar and salt. Tofurky, tried it once and never again. I love fresh fruit.
But I love white bread. Round up? I do like Dave's Killer Bread. Thanks, a lot I knew but have been lax and this helps tremendously to refresh.
Thanks so much loved this
