Also a small tip: Pure acetone cannot dissolve paraffin oil, vaseline and paraffin wax. Which means those are good cheap alternatives to protect the skin when soaking off.

Finally, someone who says what speed to use on a nail drill to remove gel polish. I was using it (or trying to) remove with a very low speed but it was of course, doing nothing. I was too scared to up the speed. I’m new to this so really didn’t know. I’ve also been attempting this with a fine drill bit. But now I know what I need to do. Thank you 😊

That suit screams “I am the boss” 🙌🏻
I have an anxious habit where I pick off my overlays and it has totally knackered my nails. I have been making a conscious effort to not do it and the damage is growing out slowly but I forgot and accidentally filed too much on the damaged part and omg ouch!! So I’m sticking to soft gel overlays for a while.

Thank you so much for the tips on the efile part. I have accidentally run over my skin early on with a sanding band at a LOW speed which tore my finger up, so I have been timid about using the efile at anything higher than 9 rpms, but I definitely have noticed those heat spikes. In fact, the heat made me nervous about going any higher in rpms. I really didn't know that a higher speed means quicker removal without an increase in heat, so I am going to get braver and try that.

Really needed this video, bc not enough gel extension tip videos exist! I wonder if it's any different if the DIYer or inexperienced other technician has used too much gel product to adhere the gel extnxn to the nail plate tho? I'd like to see how you handle that problem because I suspect from my own use of gel tips that it makes removal a much longer process.
