I'm guilty of using too much liquid, laying the product down too close to the sidewalls and cuticle, not curing long enough, creating a thick nail tip, etc. I needed to see this tutorial ages ago!

The special liquid is alcohol. Don't be fooled. 70% is good enough. Just don't use acetone. Aside from that, very good tips.

If I'm lied to I simply do NOT return & I'm living in central London so I've my pick of places I can go to, to be honest I'm swamped by nail shops! So please., anyone who is a nail technician don't lie to us, or if you do chances are you're lying to yourself also, if you mess up be honest and study harder, listen more and pay attention. Don't abuse your clients loyalty & if I'm happy not only am I loyal I tip too, the experience if it's good makes my day and believe me my life's not easy! A trip to the nail salon might be my first day out for myself in weeks, as I'm a carer. We're not all doing the TV show, The Only Way is Essex,😅 honest!!!!

It depends on the ingredients, some of them will work if they don't contain oils.

Really good video! I picked this up as a pandemic hobby. I'd done my own acrylics in the past, and after reading about polygel I decided to try it. I'll never go back! I've made several of these mistakes, but the first ones were not prepping my nails correctly and using cheap polygel. The old saying, "you get what you pay for" definitely applies here. I use pre-forms, and they help with getting that curved shape. I've tried doing it without the pre-forms and they just don't look right. I also use alcohol for a slip solution (70%), and it works great as long as I don't use too much. Definitely had an issue with that in the beginning. I rarely have lifting issues, and if I do it's either because I didn't prep the nail right or it didn't cure right. Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge!

Just tried poly gels with dual forms for the first time the tips broke off in a day. I think it was the apex and to much liquid they were soft in the middle. I’m going to try again thanks to your video. I think I have found the problem.🥰

I've definitely put the polygel too close to my skin. I have very deep set nails so the skin around them is so, umm, meaty?? Lol. It's so hard for me to get close to the cuticle without getting my skin in the way. I used your tip to put a small clip on the underside/pad of my finger to pull my meat away from the nail and that really helps! Great video, like always!

I recently started using polygel and did in fact notice that the base coat was sticky when it came out of the lamp. I did not wipe it for fear of causing the polygel not to stick. I had one heck of a time with slipping and I was unable to shape the underside of my nail without the entire dualform slipping off. For the last two weeks of my attempts I have had lifting, cracking and breaking. I am now too irritated to mess with them again because I know that I will get upset and sling the stuff across the room. lol.. I am now watching every single "how to" video so that I can get this right. At this moment I have my left hand with a full set of 5 nails and my right hand with my thumb, middle, and pinky finger only and those are lifted, and chipped. (eye roll). When I tried fixing my left hand I was already so irritated that I was going to try and make sure that I was going to get it to stay. I remembered how strong the Rhinestone gel nail glue was and I drilled down the lifted parts and prepped the exposed nail and then covered the exposed nail with the rhinestone gel glue. It worked. I am not going to continue that because I only have a small amount. I want to accomplish the polygel anyway. I just can't seem to get the apex strong enough and keep the product off my cuticle. This time I am just going to leave an orange stick space and just keep practicing. If anyone has any tips that might work for me please let me know.

I haven’t made any of these mistakes... yet. I watched this before trying the kit I just bought. I will soon be a first time user of these products. I haven’t found any videos that answer a question that I have. What about the filling of the nail? After you have had a set on for say a month and you don’t want to change any designs. Can you apply the product to fill in the area of the mail bed after your nails have grown out a bit? Or do you have to remove the nails and start over?

I have a little question: is it possible to do a manucure with popits/ dual forms and polygel on bitten nails with a small bed area? Like very short bitten nail...? I’ve heard that it can be dangerous to put those products on your skin... I’ve find a video for bitten nails and forms but not with duals forms... that’s why I’m asking... thanks!

Im guilty of using too much liquid. I used the dual forms to create my nails and since it was my first time I didn't think it was ok for the brush to sort of stick to the product which in turn made me unconsciously thin the product out too much for some of the nails. When I cured them some turned out completely hollow so I kinda just stuffed them with extra product lol 🤦‍♀️ Now when I began to file them off just about every single one was still gooey in the middle. This video seems very helpful so I'll keep it in mind for the next time. Thanks so much!!

what are your thoughts on using nail wraps such as fiberglass under the polygel, i prefer nail wraps added to acrylics during winter here in alaska because the extreme cold can break nails easily. i haven't tried it with polygel yet.

maybe a stupid question but regarding no.8 the apex missing if we get a crack on the nail is there any way to fix it and save the nail or we have to redo the nail again?

Ugh. My nails are absolutely destroyed at the moment, I have been trying to do polygels for about a year now and some I’ve had 2 maybe 3 sets that have lasted. But i have SO mqny issues. This was , as well as your channel as a whole so helpful. I’m now looking for now how to repair and heal my nails. I’m just keeping a simple color on so I don’t bite or pick. My poor fingers hurt. :/
