Hey bro, I would like to know if there’s a way i could get in contact with you to figure out how to start being a middle man. I have tried so many businesses lately i feel overwhelmed and dont know what to do or how to start. I would be more than happy and ready to put in whatever time and effort is needed.
Thomas, as someone who makes something that requires a lot of detailed work and quality attention, how do you ensure the quality of the work of a subcontractor if the client doesnt know theyre not paying you but someone else? Ie that your reputation is held in tact, work is delivered on time etc? Or are you always open about the fact youre referring the work away to someone else?
It's interesting as a wannabe entrepreneur I was always drawn to the "middleman" strategies the most, probably because as you mentioned int he video, they don't require hundreds of hours of specialized skills, just being able to use marketing to actually find the people that can provide those skills. Even my most recent interest being Real estate wholesaling, its just a fancy way of being a middle man between a home seller and a homebuyer.
Turns out there is a lot of money for the middle men out there, just takes a lot of work upfront to get it rolling lol
The problem with this strategy is you don't actually know how the third guy works and the quality of his work. So you're paying someone to do the job for you, but that third guy might potentially work like crap, while you're the one to blame. And you're also risking not getting hired again. Of course there are people that know how to work (properly), but you have to find them first. And that usually costs time/money.

@@MrTripsJ Portfolio doesn't mean anything. I've hired a bunch on upwork and majority offer shit or overcharge, that's why I said you need to spend money/time to find the right one. But you may lose clients in the process and/or lose money because you have to pay more for quality.
I mean I would say that’s the cost of doing business. If it too easy then it wouldn’t be a good model at all, no barriers to entry

well the problem is fiding the proffessional person and then delivering the work. also there are some cases the other person directly contact the person who needed the work and cut off the commision of middle person
I recently came across your channel, and although you seem to be a transparent guy. You also follow the blueprint for a lot of these guru start up that eventually start selling their bs. The video that really stuck out to me the most that I find really genuine is your video on "addiction", but more than anything, it seems like a good method of connecting with your audience to lead them on. Could you make a video addressing these concerns and why you're doing what you're doing? If not that then let me just leverage off this comment and ask about monetizing passion projects that are long term goals and not instant gratification such as upwork. What if I have a passion I want to monetize but because we're so addicted to instant gratification, we can't grind out the work long enough to reap the reward of our labor?

p.s also watched the video about "I can't work the 9-5" and it sparked some fire in me to get going. I'm in the process of looking for work and haven't had too much success. I've also tried phone reselling and it worked but i slowly realized in the long term I want something online and more convenient which I think this might be it but I won't know until I try. anyways thanks!

I've seen so many dropshipping videos but barely anyone talks about issues with suppliers, what if your sources suddenly weren't available you can't just go pick out another one randomly because there is a risk of unreliability...
This isn't dropshipping, that is risky...esp now that its' super competitive.

You can always start with as little as $20 if you think like a bank but act like a charitable non-profit. I literally sell (lend) money BUT without interest (usury). So how is it even sustainable?
Here is an example of how I sell $25 for $5 ( th-cam.com/video/6miGVLEi1gg/w-d-xo.html ). A hybrid of "Pay What You Want" and "Vickrey auction" business models makes it sustainable.

First you learn and gain knowledge and then wing your way through it. Many of these guys go through it until it becomes second nature for them. Once you gain the experience, you're a professional. We all have to start somewhere.

So what's the endgame here? Selling a course on how to BYOB? Giving "not financial" advice? Or a genuinely no-agenda grassroots youtuber who is just wanting to share their journey of self-employment and how YMMV and replicating him may not necessarily lead to success?
I know it may be covered in your course, but do you hire out the same few freelancers for the jobs you take on, or are you constantly searching for new ones to fulfill orders that you come across?

99% of people won't do that 😂. I mean you can go directly to sites to buy stuff, but instead you go to Best Buy or Wal Mart or any other middle man.

It works for a while, but the middle man is eventually taken out in any business model. What is stopping your contractors from reaching out directly to your clients?

@@ghostwalker89 and most retail stores are struggling or giving up because the lvalue they add (in-store availability and testing) is diminishing in a world of same-day delivery. But those are still physical items.
With SMM, we are dealing with virtual services, and those are much easier to be streamlined (aka eliminate the middle man). There is nothing that stops the contractor who was hired to produce the Facebook ad and Instagram story from reaching out to client X and offer them the same work for half the price. Heck, they can even provide work examples that the client already loved....
The fact that they don't want to go through the hassle of finding new contractors. The only reason they would actively look for them is if their lowering their budget and need a replacement. That's why you work with multiple clients at once and don't rely on one client. Majority, don't do it though. I worked at a digital marketing agency, where the clients just wanted us to manage their socials, SEO, PPC. I did the SEO. We literally outsourced Indians and Pakistanis who did most of the work. My job was to find them, contact them, and make sure they delivered. Now, if we assume that those contacts also outsourced their work...do you see how many links there are in the chain? Does the client know? No. Does the client care? No. Should the client know? No. Also, high paying clients won't have the time to look for alternatives. They are literally willing to pay $3k to an agency per month so that they don't deal with the hassle.
How are you preventing the client from taking your contractor? If it's something like fb ads or copywriting services, I imagine the contractor would have to have direct communication with the client to provide the service

Why would he give you his sources? He is giving you the business model, you have to put in the effort to create your own business. If he gave you everything including his sources you could just copy his business and be his direct competition.
@@1738gabe Habibi, I am not asking him to reveal who his middle men are. I am just asking him to let us know whether or not he outsources graphic design tasks or he does them himself. He said that he only has a laptop and a simple gear in his room and that anyone can do what he does. So, social media management requires a ton of uploads .. from posts, pics to various things .. so, he must be having an assistant or he is a graphic designer himself.

How do you find freelancers to do qork for you?
bro but say I'm drop servicing web dev and I have no idea about it, how would I convince a client
portfolio or share snippets of previous work. You've got to contact as many people as possible, every single day. Once you land a client, do not stop, always browse for new clients. To convince a client, you need to sound sure of yourself, cut to the chase. I think the most important aspects of landing a client is to be able to communicate that you are 1) a good communicator 2) willing to fix any errors you make 3) will be able to handle challenging tasks 4) diligent 5) easy to work with. If you are able to give these messages without stating them, but discretely suggesting them in your proposals, then there is a higher chance of landing a client. I think the most important aspect is that you should be affordable, easy to work with, and a good communicator. Also, I suggest learning about your trade. You should be able to understand what the client is requesting and should be able to polish the work that is completed by the third party. I suggest picking something you have some knowledge on.

He said it in the video. He is not actually doing any of the work, so no hours are measured. As he gets a new job from a client, he hands that off to another freelancer to complete the work. So essentially, he can have unlimited jobs being handled for unlimited clients at any point in time because the work is outsourced. The hourly rate he has on upwork is irrelevant.

The whole middleman explanation makes sense, but you are saying the client and the worker don't know how to find each other. How does this make sense when both the client and the freelancer come from the same place you are also on (Upwork)? Aren't you just competing with the other freelancers and have lower margins?

I can get clients that most freelancers on upwork can't get. Clients on upwork go with me because I have a more established profile, I have better copywriting, I'm better at sales, I have better systems, I provide more value.

Do I need money to start this business?
On Upwork, you do need some money to 1) contact clients 2) pay the third party - the person you delegated for the task. You need money to purchase Upwork tokens called connects which allows you to submit proposals. Once you land the client, if you want to outsource the work, then you should be able to afford that freelancer. This would be the case if you are getting paid after the project is done.

lol it's who's the most lazy, the first guy is the laziest but he has the money to spend and can afford to be lazy and pay someone to do it, the middle man is actually the genius in that he is also lazy in that instead of collecting the full payment he is also too lazy so he pays the last person who actually does the job and is forced to do it because they are poor and have no real choice. So basically we are living off of the rich or those that can afford to pay others because either they themselves don't want to do it, or can't do it.
