    Hi all-I've had a lot of interest in my Upwork systems over the last few weeks, so thought I'd record a video on them. This is the exact flow I've used to make an average of ~$20K on Upwork for the last year, and you can build it yourself in maybe an hour.

    WHY ME?
    If this is your first watch-hi, I’m Nick! TLDR: I spent five years building automated businesses with Make.com (most notably 1SecondCopy, a content company that hit 7 figures). Today a lot of people talk about automation, but I’ve noticed that very few have practical, real world success making money with it. So this channel is me chiming in and showing you what real systems that make real revenue look like!
    Hopefully I can help you improve your business, and in doing so, the rest of your life :-)
    Please like, subscribe, and leave me a comment if you have a specific request! Thanks.

      Thank you Jake! Crossing my fingers for you man, best of luck.
      Re: social proof absolutely. It's significantly harder but just think of your campaigns as having a lower conversion rate-if you increase volume on the back end it'll all even out.
      A good way of getting a few early case studies, btw, is reaching out to marketing directors or managers at 1-10 sized companies & offering your services free. That's how I got my start. I know a lot of YT frowns on "volunteering" but I conceptualize it as just another exchange (where you work for social proof instead of capital). Once you have a few under your belt it makes everything easier!

    ❤. Hi Nick, another inspirational video. A thought/question :- is there a benefit and a way to run the GPT initial training once per session/day etc then leverage that GPT session for each job in the list? Ie if you are dealing with 200 per session 18 x a day you could start seeing a big bill for for GPT tokens when in actual fact only 10-15% of the tokens used are going to the actual job selection. If I am not understanding the flow, I am sorry but just seems an interesting point to me. Cheers.

    This is great content, thank you for showing us how to do this!
    quick question, what prevents this workflow from adding the same duplicate projects to the airtable each time it runs?
    Is it checking the upwork url for uniqueness somewhere?

    • @nicksaraev
      @nicksaraev  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is part of the RSS feed functionality, luckily-every time it runs I only get new responses. But if you wanted to avoid duplicates you'd just add a filter before the last module. Something like "only proceed if URL doesn't exist in Airtable column X".

    • @nicksaraev
      @nicksaraev  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'd do a combination. Iirc you can add multiple terms by adding a plus between them. So if your platform was Instantly, you'd probably do something like Instantly+OR+Cold%20Email. This would let you get any listings with the word "cold email" in them along with any that include the word "Instantly". That said I may be off with my formatting here so plz check those RSS docs!

    This was great, Nick. Thanks so much for sharing!
    A few questions:
    1. How do you have your filters set up for project vs. hourly? I just wound up going with text does/does not contain a dash (-) because the projects don't have price ranges but I'm curious how you did it.
    2. How do you have the URL format set up in Airtable for your job link button?
    3. This looks like it's fairly heavy of Make process consumption. I suppose this is your business so you're probably fine with that but curious how much usage you're seeing with this scenario?
    Thanks again!

    • @nicksaraev
      @nicksaraev  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great q's man! Dash filter works, I look specifically for "Hourly Range" in the description. For URL I use the ID and remap my own link to the proposal page (www.upwork.com/ab/proposals/job/{id}/apply). Lets me one click and get to the proposal page rather than do it twice. Consumption is fairly high, I think ~10K/mo. For me it's worth it since a single job pays that off and the system lets me apply to significantly more than I'd be able to otherwise.
      Hope this helps 🙏

      This is a great question and one I've thought a lot about.
      I believe building a brand is much, *much* more powerful, but you have to zoom out sufficiently to see it. Unfortunately, most people can't-they have near term financial requirements that force them to look at things very myopically.
      I.e "Why would I dedicate 10 hours towards the nebulous goal of building a brand when I can perform 10 hours of labor, make $1,000, and pay my rent instead?"

    • @nicksaraev

      Hey Frances, def give it a try. My OpenAI bill is anywhere from $300-$1K/mo, although I should note that's blended between a bunch of different business processes. I think if you were to optimize the hell out of it (set strict character limits, strip whitespace, use turbo models) you could get it down to ~$100/mo.

    • @nicksaraev

      Conversion rate is ~1/5 right now, but this depends on the jobs you pick. Higher ticket stuff is generally harder (but disproportionately worth it). I.e 20% conv rate on $2K avg projects is equivalent to "making" $400 per proposal, while a 5% conv rate on $20K avg projects is equivalent to $1000 per proposal. I would always prioritize the latter.

      My take is it's "Sheets on steroids". You have the basic functionality inherent in any db ofc, like columns, rows, primary keys, etc, but one of Airtable's big selling points is that it lets you mock up frontend UIs using this data. They brand it as their interface builder iirc which you should check out if you're interested
      Airtable also includes a bunch of built in automations (not shown here) that do maybe 80% of what's possible in Make, so it's attractive as an all in one solution. Hope this helps 🙏

      Hmm. How new is your OpenAI account? If you're on Tier 1 your limits are 10K tokens/min iirc, which may lead to rate limits if you're running a lot of records quickly. Try adding a 5s sleep after the GPT-4 module just in case.
      In any case $3.81/hr is def too much. My costs are ~1/10th. How many items is your RSS feed pulling? Are you feeding in the whole HTML description, or are you parsing it with an HTML->text to remove unnecessary tags/tokens?

      I got it, it seems Open AI limits you by spending. I recommend spending $50 and wait 7 days since first payment to be able to not have a TOKENS PER DAY limit which is a bummer when trying to work this things up.

    • @nicksaraev
      @nicksaraev  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks and good on you for implementing this in practice. Sounds like you figured it out but yes-any 429s are you running into the rate limit because of account tiers. Here's a detailed breakdown from OpenAI (they update this every so often): platform.openai.com/docs/guides/rate-limits
      To avoid issues like this erroring out your flow, I'd enable storing of incomplete scenario executions and then add a break module connected to the Completions module. 3 x 15 minutes should be enough. This will let Make automatically retry calls when you get rate limited so it's on autopilot.

    I don't get how automating Upwork generates 20k.

    20k on Upwork? 😅 Dude make your click baits at least a little realistic.

      Best month so far was $25,273.07! Since then I hit $15K-$20K/mo consistently. Think you have some limiting beliefs :)

    I’ve noticed you like to lean heavily on past experience when communicating with potential employers.
    How would you suggest someone whose only experience is self-taught and unpaid position themself?
    (It’s me, if you somehow weren’t sure 😂)
