In EQE's case the temp is similar for rwd and AMG 53 but the AMG has 21 inch wheels and fatter tires and still only 14% off the rwd. Also VW ID4 seems to be even more efficient in awd spec vs rwd for some reason. Where is the evidence that Tesla is closer in rwd vs awd?

    The good thing with this EQE 300 is that it has the best range and it still doesn't seem slow, whats the point having the fastest car (meaning the fastest EQE if you will have much lower range) as this was 60km more in winter compared to that one in summer, thats a big difference, I bet in summer that could make around 100km and thats a big difference for me, I need the car to have around 400km range at 120 - 130 km/h in winter to feel comfortable. EQE 300 has that.

      @@Wasssup3232 I agree. It's completely unacceptable in 2022 how auto software + firmware is so inflexible in the industry. I actually suspect the software isn't that inflexible in most cases, the manufacturers are probably just using it as an excuse to push people to newer/high specc'd models.
      In some cases some of the software does rely on hardware components being specc'd when ordered. But in other cases manufacturers are quite happy to install hardware and then switch off functionality so that you can then subscribe later and switch it on, for a price - my Audi has matrix headlights installed but I have to pay a monthly fee to subscribe to them! Madness.

    Hi Björn, very good video and exactly my thought: for me the EQE is too expensive for what it is, because the lower trim is for me too little performance for the price. The EQS is an awsome car if one can afford it, the EQE did not convince me when I tried it myself.

      @tesla-spectre ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@tiagocarvalho983 For me, it feels like a considerably smaller version of the EQS. So the things that I personally do not like so much in the EQS appear here as well (especially the shape which to me is just not sexy, and in particular the ridiculous policy to close the hood for the client and anyway not to have a frunk); in addition, it has a pretty small trunk and by far not the performance I get from a MUCH cheaper Model 3 LR. It clearly does not compete with the Model 3 LR in terms of real price range, that is much closer or identical to the Model S LR (not the plaid obviously) and then it is even farer behind regarding performance.
      When driving it it also felt considerably less nippy than even my Model 3 LR (not surprisingly since the lower spec versions have considerably less power).
      Of course it has other stuff which is better than in a Tesla (HUD, seats etc) but I simply did not consider it worth the money. Just looking a bit at the add on list and you easily jump far beyond 100.000 € which is to me anyway out of a reasonable range for a car and especially that one.
      But that is all very personal. For many, it might be the ideal car. Since we all have very different interests and needs. So you should try yourself, maybe it is for you!

    I think there is a simple solution to understand why the consumption of a "legacy" auto maker appears higher than what is the case of Tesla. From what I have seen from a Tesla owner, Tesla is only reporting the consumption when the car is not stationary, and I am not sure it adds the consumption for heating and cooling to the overall consumption

    • @bjornnyland
      @bjornnyland  ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Tesla also counts heater and everything else. Many people simply can't believe that Teslas are so efficient so they make up false claims.

    • @chrischild3667
      @chrischild3667 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think I may have seen where that suspicion came from. From what has been reported it's the total energy IN at the charger that's a bit skewed with the Tesla. More of the energy is put into BMS processes compared to other manufacturers (Battery Life has a video on this). So to charge a Tesla up may consume more energy (around 10-15%) in total than, what is added as driving energy. But that may no longer be the case due to VW/Skoda's recent models like ID4, ID5 and Enyaq sucking lots of power for BMS processes too (as seen in Bjørns vids).

    Winter nordic friction tyres will have a lower rolling resistance than a comparable summer tyre.

    • @wudruffwildcard252
      @wudruffwildcard252 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends on the temperature doesn't it? In cold weather they should have higher resistance than summer tires. Otherwise they wouldn't be winter tires if they weren't softer than summer tires in cold weather.

    • @DKP0wers
      @DKP0wers ปีที่แล้ว

      @@wudruffwildcard252 that's the logical take but for some reason everything else being equal, car's consumption is less with nordic friction tyres.
