    For what it's worth I think the issue here is a financial one, caused by poor governance, greed, and corruption. If it is true that the Western Cape contributes R 185 billion in taxes and is only allocated 25% of that back in order to run the province then we have really lost before we've even started. The problem is probably the same in the other provinces. Nothing will change until the politics change. As well as the DA has done in running the Western Cape they will always be hamstrung financially. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results.

      Have you, in your capacity, made an attempt to educate people on how taxes fund government programmes? The majority of ANC supporters, especially in the rural areas don't know. They think that the money comes from the pockets of the ANC.
      Also, market the party you want to win come 2024. The EFF is gaining on the DA because it's visible on the ground. It goes to the small towns and villages that the DA and other non-white parties do/will not.
      People are tired of the ANC and will take just about anything that will position itself as the opposition. Have the DA (the most palatable "non-black" party) make itself known in NC, EC, NW and FS

    In the Western Cape we are ready for progression, this current government is keeping us behind and outside investments away. We can't keep sending our kids abroad to seek better opportunities thus we have to start building from home. If the rest of the country is happy with a failing government and failing economy then they should not be opposed to us seeking something different and better. We in the Cape are ready to work. Cape Independence is a dream BUT it's an achievable one. I live in the Western Cape and I fully support Cape Independence. The ANC has destroyed South Africa with their corruption, racist policies dividing people and inability to govern. Their is NO political solution that is going to fix this issue because the people of the Cape reject ANC rule but those outside the Cape keep the ANC in power despite the trajectory the country is going. Why? It's really simple, they refuse to hold them to account and are actually okay with the current state of affairs so why cant the People of The Cape cut our ties, seek a better government which will give us 💯 control over our future? The Cape will secede and I prefer it's done peacefully but if the ANC and their supporters choose to prevent us, I'm prepared to defend our right to a free and Independent Cape

    • @M3l_0N666
      @M3l_0N666 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wrong, Africa has always been divided due to corrupt bigoted African governments who usually give in to power and money, like the ANC and EFF. Their radical ways is not how you go about making a country work let alone great. Remember they merely occupy a country, they never built one from the ground up like the Afrikaners did. So they have no clue how to go about governing. Besides, African people on the outside of South Africa do not share your beliefs of a United Africa and history also shows that African tribes all over fough against eachother for land and whatever els was considered valued. Try to self educate rather than listen to gossip or obvious propaganda from people like EFF. ANC included but more so EFF. Remember, much of the land to the South was uninhabited, thus the Boers settled there, some of the land in other directions were inhabited by Khoisan, before the Bantu chased them out and nearly killed them all.

      3rdly. Doesn’t the people in the Eastern Cape have their own property or territory? Why do you want to demand a government house when you already have a house? Shouldn’t that be considered as theft or fraud?
      4th. Dont you think it unjust that the people who built the Western Cape, payed their taxes (also to ensure the well-being of their next generation youth), for centuries and generations must get marginalised out of their own province and their kids being robbed of future which their parents built and also paid for with their taxes?

      It is clear that the Union of South Africa was forced upon the citizens of Southern Africa by a colonial power which invaded numerous independent states and Kingdoms. The legitimacy of this is questionable at best, and seriously needs to be looked at. Such an invasion as in the situation happening in Namibia where the German Nation is paying reparation could very well be a factor to which Briton should also be held to account.
      The ANC and the continuation of divisive racial politics and ideology, supported by foreign governments and organization still does not make a Zulu, suddenly a Xhosa, or a Khoisan suddenly a Matabele etc...etc.....
      The centralization of powers on racial structure does not serve any person in South Africa except the few while enslaving numerous Kingdoms, Tribes and Nations......in a "black versus white" narrative.
      The succession debate and movement is clearly more than a departure from the Republic of South Africa and the 'Union" subscribed to it by a foreign invading power......
      it is more about real freedom, and the unbinding of all the citizens of South Africa from a history of subjugation by one power over another.....decentralized government more in tune and in closer quarters to localized citizenry .......closer, smaller and more responsible government over smaller areas which are easier to control and answerable to its citizenry.
      The Rep. of South Africa designed at CODESA in which the 'code for South Africa' was prescribed over millions of people who were themselves never invited to any form of discussion .......(more foreign entities decided the fate of Southern Africa's citizens that South Africans citizens themselves)
      The experiment is tried and failed .... and South Africans are Trillions of Dollars poorer .....stolen by a parasitical government who for the most part seem to be servicing a string of international economic hitmen from various foreign organizations who are the major benefactors of South African resources both human and material.
      It would be more apt to say that the succession is already happening ..............for the mental emancipation which has begun....it is growing ......
      while some would argue or ask............is one willing to die for this?............(sorry, but the was a Mandela ....line.....and look and see where it got us all)

    Alan (incorrectly) argues that if we allow the Western Cape to secede, there is nothing that will prevent a proliferation of breakaways ("what stops Hout Bay from seceding from the Western Cape"). That is exactly why Montevideo Convention on the Rights and Duties of States (1993) Article 1 states: ‘The state as a person of international law should possess the following qualities:
    1. A permanent population (one could argue that Hout Bay has this, although they do not have unique 'culture' and/or predominant language that is different from the rest of the Western Cape, nor under threat by the rest of the Western Cape)
    2. A defined territory (Hout Bay qualifies)
    3. A government (if they were part of the new sovereign state, they'd even qualify for this, since the proposed Canton system of governing effectively means that they could be governing themselves)
    4. Capacity to enter into relations with other states’ (this is where they'd have difficulty, since as a region, they'd have to prove that they could be economically viable).
    I accept that this is a simplification, so I'm happy to have an open discussion about where I might be wrong?

Thirdly, state resources like electricity supply, water supply and transportion would be disband if worst comes worst. Lastly, what is the Western Cape biggest trading partners, would it prosperous in the short/medium term (10-20 years) if it is not allowed to trade with RSA and blacklisted by China?. Cape Town is amazing - the landscape, mountains and beaches the best I've ever seen in the world, I met so many nice people of all races, tribes. The Lyft drivers were mostly from Zimbabwe - very educated, hard working and just nice.
    The British and Dutch SA are really cool people - the women are as good looking as Swedes but not stuck up - great food, beer and wine.
    Obviously SA has lots of problems - the bloody electricity doesn't work and threats of riots and Rwanda, Zimbabwe style things are always "in the air". I wish Cape Town still had dependable, safe train transport as those Taxi Vans were terrorizing the roads.
    Best of luck to all the good people in the Western Cape. Maybe autonomy is more realistic than full independence. Why not invite the Russians in to build a safe, model nuclear power plant?

    I do agree with Pieter Marais that we should never say never in politics. The position of Mr Winde does not surprise me; the DA is an offshoot of the PFP who have always advocated "one man one vote in a unitary state". Why anybody would still advocate this after witnessing what South Africa has become, astounds me. The bet thing for the DA is to disappear into history; the sooner the better. Regardless of Cape independence happening or not, does not alter the fact that South Africa is a failed state and some other solution must be considered and for the folk of the Western Cape, independence is an option worth pursuing.

    • @fisstudies320
      @fisstudies320 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Moses - Pursuing a “dream” that is doomed is rather childish though.
      Any referendum in South Africa will require all South Africans to vote. This group is a minority. Without the support of the majority or a majority political party in government to argue and win their case for a referendum / cessation - this idea just becomes a negative fantasy.
      Why would it be acceptable to break a country into pieces? What would stop some group in Durban / Port Elizabeth / East London from also demanding independence? The level of immaturity is astonishing.
      So when your children are fed-up in your own house - you can just divide your house to grant them individually independence in the same house instead of working together to solve the problems. Surely, if your kids found living at house intolerable they would leave to find independence elsewhere far from your house / home? Why should this matter be any different? Why are South Africans supposed to tolerate this nonsense?
      Yes, I agree with you the DA is useless, and so is the ANC and the EFF. So the whole DAEFFANC belong to history books.
      Western Cape under the DA continued to deny the poor South Africans space in good arrears, they instead preferred the wealthy including foreigners to build houses for the rich while chasing the poor out of those lucrative areas. Are we now supposed to believe that Western Cape is interested in the welfare of poor South Africans? The fact that this gross injustice is downplayed does not mean we don’t know about it. Under the DA leadership, Western Cape built open toilets for the poor just like the ANC did - where was this group of people to raise the issue and complain about that injustice for their own poor “countrymen”.

Being forced to live in a country ruled by these buffoons is tantamount to a life sentence with hard labor. Many do not have the means to leave so are stuck. For me, it is a non event as to whether the ANC regime will agree to secession or not, or whether the constitution will allow it or not. If either the regime are regime supporters are going to be against independence, then that is an obstacle that will need removing. As regards South Africa's constitution; I will not wipe a certain part of my anatomy with it. There is no reason at all why peoples cannot determine their own destiny. There is heaps of examples - take a look at Europe...comparing countries wanting to go on their own to a family household is a bit of a stretch, but I will say this; if Mom or Dad are racist, thieving, incompetent thugs, then other arrangements will need to be made in order to protect the well being of the children. How you can call a people group wanting to determine their future as childish is even more of a stretch. There is no reason at all why peoples should be forced to accept a system that is not working for them. One man one vote in a unitary state has proved to be disaster of epic proportions. Forcing people to accept this and calling them racist is stupid and infantile. It is an excuse that will only impress liberals and left wing thinkers that cannot come up with a valid enough counter proposal.
