Fortunately for me the clamp was only ever meant to be temporary and I was aware I was pushing it to see how much it could take, I just thought I should say something so it can be avoided by others.

@@GRIID9 Mine is about 1.5cm thick and is fine, although it does have thick aluminium legs and a brace bar at the back for extra strength. I did hit a curb the other day which made an Xbox controller on the desk jump about 25 cm's in the air, but the desk/wheel are still good. 😅
I also use the GT DD Pro 5nm on a desk, at first I felt the clamp wasn't good cause it was flexing, but than I tightened it, and tightened it, and tightened it again, and I must say you can REALLY REALLY tighten that thing HARD! In the end there's no more flex anymore as the desk itself is very solid. Never thought this clamp would be so strong, but it is!

0:29 THAT'S GENIUS Thanks for the tip, whenever I used my wheel my chair kept going back i never thought of putting a shoe to stop it hahaha Great vid btw!
There are wheel stoppers you can get for office chairs that replace the wheels with a stationary casters and then you can put a grippy material on the bottom that will keep it from sliding. Carpet padding works well.
I wanted to keep my wheels, so I can move my chair. Castor cups are the answer. They cost almost nothing and with 3 of them under my wheels I absolutely cannot make them slide on my wooden floor. Then when I'm finished driving, I pick them up.
I have seen a lot of sim tips. But if it comes to desk chairs, I always see options that I do not think are good. Like in this video with putting the wheel in the shoe. I personally use "locking chair casters" for my chair. A cheap (20 - 30 dollar) solution that will work better then most other solutions. I just lock them when I am going to use my wheel and that is, it works perfect.
I wonder how that would perform on a solid hardwood desk with some weight behind it. My biggest concern is that the desk clamp itself is just not strong enough for the job, otherwise I doubt it would do much to the desk I use. Real hardwood is stronger by weight than most steel by a significant margin.
The desk looked fine, the clamp was the problem looking at the video. That clamping for that wheel looks terrible, not sturdy at all, wobbling all over but the table kept rigid. It looked like the clamp would break way before the table moved. What I took from this is, wooden table is solid, this wheels clamp is rubbish.
The mount couldnt be tightened more without damaging the desk. in all the testing it didnt move sideways or out of place. the up and down motion from the back is unavoidable at high torque. Didn't you have a Wheel Stand Pro? You could try this base with it, maybe it can withstand the forces fine. And, if not, what could be the problem, the stand lifting? you could use a plank of wood undermeath it to secure the stand to it.
The up and down movement is really bad. And it's not the desk moving, it's the clamp. They just didn't design it well.
