TH-cam is a gift. To think I can watch these legendary performances decades after they unfolded. Amazing
😂
Soc psicoanalista OK.
I was born in 1965. I can't remember how old I was but this was the music i could hear on the radio at night when, being put to bed by my mom, i was falling asleep. The magic this music created around me is unforgettable. In fact, it found its way to my soul, to the inner child so, each time I listen to it, I'm there, in my childhood, protected and loved. I thank you for this music! 🤗❤
Oscar Peterson was One the most amazing jazz pianists from the whole world
@@TheSurvivorXXI, I totally agree!
música é magia; embala para sempre ; dirige destinos para o bem , amor e alegria . . .
@@josecarlosvieira5712, sim, a música também é um remédio para a alma...
I hear you❤
Oscar Peterson is off the chain. Such precision, and deliberate musical ideas. Just great. I love listening to him.
Him and Bill Evans are the pinnacle of Jazz piano if not Music in general
@@AnkhUrAmun 👌
And Errol Garner and Dave Brubeck!!!
Errrol Eroll, come here !

Dave ! @@georgettegantner4264
They'll still be playing this 1,000 yrs from now and wondering how all that talent got here.
I think even space aliens would be humbled by this work.

@@MarkErickson-Painter No problem :) I hope you have fun painting this weekend :D
@@JaschaBingham Been a good painting time recently. I can see why you like Oscar Peterson, you are an excellent pianist Listening to Caravan now. Very well done.
@@MarkErickson-Painter Thank you :)
@@JaschaBingham thanks for the list!
Ed Thigpen transitions from brushes to sticks in such style at 0:58 !
When I was born , in 62 , they played for me as I was a baby. My parents did this to me. My parents danced in the 50ties on LIVE Louis Armstrong, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, such and more, in Amsterdam. So. lovely to y'all !
My first introduction to Mr. Peterson and I love him.
Brothers Making Those hands do the - Talking..
What a true talent Mr. Peterson was. Always a joy to listen.
I saw u at MTL and I would say that your talent amazed me as M Peterson's talent do it to me
İ am 71 born just discovering such math exists. Music is math
Because my Dad was an organ player, this is definitely the kinda music I grew up on!🎶🎷🎺📻🎸🎹🎹🎹🎹🎻🎵🎵🎵🎙🎧I never out grew listening to it!!! Love it! It's simply JAZZ at its BEST!🌟🌟🌟🌟🏆🏆🏆🏆🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅💜💛👏👏👏👏😆🖒OH YEAH!
I love that the mics for the instruments faintly pick up Oscar's scatting while he plays. I saw an interview with him a few years ago and he was asked why he never sang. He pulled the mic close and answered. "I'll sing a bit for you and you'll understand." He played and started singing. He sounded EXACTLY like Nat King Cole. He chuckled when he finished. "See? It's already been done." How could you not love that man?
And then there's an album called Oscar Peterson sings Nat King Cole 😊
we are lucky Oscar lived

Pianists of today still aspire to play as beautifully as Oscar. So glad this is preserved to enjoy 57 years later
Probably an inaccurate comparison but Bill Charlap seems to have been influenced but I'm just a listener not a critic or expert.
Everything Oscar does is in incredibly good taste. Never, never is it merely for the sake of displaying virtuosity.
Wonderful words and so true
You can hear the generosity and humour of his character in his keys
Well observed
ra I have f and a 6th and 2

In fact that line “ it doesn’t get get better than this “ should be a jazz song
That Oscar Peterson smile while he plays... like he's hearing all of the musical punch lines before we do. I love hearing and watching him play!
It's real and from the heart. What a treat. I sat with Oscar Peterson in conversation and it humbled me beyond words.
eamestv my name is Oscar too my mom heard about him so she named me Oscar!

Without a doubt Oscar Peterson is one of the Best Jazz and Blues Pianists in the World
I listen to piano across all types of music. I agree with you but I would remove the words "Jazz and Blues" from your sentence. I consider him as one of those few that transcends the type of music they play. Sometimes I smile at just how casual he makes his perfection seem when we all know that that kind of perfection never comes without total devotion to the craft.
Leave out the “one of”
@@morrisparrish76 it's true, i love many players but he's something else
Oscar and his Trio of Awesome Human Beings brought Life to LIFE ! I can even see His Majesty tapping His Royal feet and Jamming right along with him ! Wonderful is just the start... Come on New Millenniums ..show us what ya got !!
I keep watching this mans video s he is amazing too me , he was a musical genius for sure RIP
Oscar
Classy grooves. Canada's Pride and Joy!
I put this video on and my grandson came up to me and said, just like in a call centre. “Your call is important to us, so please hold the line”. I replied, if a call centre was playing this great man’s music, I’d be ringing up just to to listen to him.
But let’s pay homage to his fellow accompanist, who had to equal Oscar’s incredible talent.
A humble gentleman, with such persona.
I grew up listening to jazz from 10 years of age. I was introduced to Oscar Peterson 's music. I have listened to many jazz pianists but Oscar Peterson's playing is unique., especially on jam sessions
I WAKE UP TO THIS EVERYDAY.
SANS AUCUN DOUTE, UNE DES MEILLEURES RECONTRES DE JAZZ DE TOUS LES TEMPS !!! MAGNIFIQUE VIDEO. GRAND MERCI DE SALAVADOR BRÉSIL !!!
My brother and I just watched this, it doesn’t get better than this
Brilliant. Ten stars! A tribute to historical *gospel* rhythms! Yessssss.❣
that one man flugelhorn and trumpet conversation. Fuck yeah clark!
Man, I like how they clap in unison. Real Jazz, real audience, real stuff!
El máster's best energy.
Thank you,
Brother
I, love this art❤
He's so focused but it comes very naturally to him. Ray Brown is a hell of a bass player
Seeing these songs performed brings about a greater appreciation for Peterson's genius. Ray Brown is absolutely brilliant on bass!! Whew!!
The older I get the more I admire, and am awed by, Ray Brown's essentially perfect (technically AND artistically) art as a bassist.
Oscar was the best in jazz history. Still is.
My parents used to go see Oscar live at The London House in Chicago Illinois in the 50s
LOVE Oscar Peterson!!! Thanks for posting this!! Hugs from this Grandma!! ;-)
I'm not religious, but I could worship at the Church of Oscar Peterson. He was the direct manifestation of the Deity.
These players have faith in what they are playing!
Just Delightful!!!! So glad in 2022 I'm able to see such a gem of artistry!
The one and only!
I saw him live 10 yrs later. I grew up in a 5 star hotel and had live jazz daily. I also met Charlie Chaplain there.
As a piano player he was a role model that never faded in importance to me
Ed Thigpen. Genius drummer! Unmatched tone.
Was born in 1944..See him with Jazz Messenger...
Nothin but geniuses up there.
This man just makes me proud to be a fellow Canadian. He was such a gentle genius.
Absolute injoy oscar peterson!!!!
What a gifted talent he was,

PURE BEAUTY, PURE JOY, PURE EXPRESSION, PURE MUSIC !!! Thank you OSCAR Forever !!!!
Quelle aisance !
Lost my Dad a couple of years ago but he introduced me to Jazz and particularly Oscar Peterson - as a kid in the ‘80s it was unusual! In the ‘90s onwards my friends caught up and I schooled them in Jazz in London pubs - best years of our lives!
awesome 1963 is the year i was born such great music back then and he played satin doll and then chicago wow this is great music
He just makes your heart so happy you are there listening ! He is fantastic and his Guys are Awesome !
Thank you for posting that wonderful video !
It's fun to watch the bass player.
Hymn To Freedom gives me chills and brings tears to my eyes. So powerful!
WOW!!!🤩 Just fabulous & amazing!!!🙌👏👏👏❤❤❤❤❤
THANK YOU
this is phenomenal
Increíble grabación. Don Óscar no perdía una sola nota. Fraseo perfecto.
I know legendary jazz pianists, but let's be serious : Oscar IS the piano.
Man THAT swings !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wo.
Thanks to TH-cam recommendations, I could see the Oscar Peterson Trio in the 60s. Mr. Peterson,he invited me to Jazz Music in my 70s. His tone is warm and bright for me.
Mind blowing great. One of the best filmed performances of Oscar, Ray and Ed
Oscar Peterson is an insuperable star in your feeling for magic armonization wich mix many styles in one happening with fabolous and many variations of dinamic expression..❤️🙏
Big shout out to Clark Terry....on the horn. He's brilliant! As well (of course) the *amazing* Oscar Peterson Trio!
Sounds from other reality: light, pleasant, energetic, melodic, smooth
The greatest piano player I’ve ever seen!
Petersen was THE Maestro. Incredibly melodic!
Feels so safe. He'll never hit a wrong note and if it angular to the ear it's just super duper advanced OP. You could sing 100% of his playing he's that tasty
wow this is a real find, the greatest jazz pianist at his prime. Many thanks for this very deeply appreciated post. Made my day for several days!
This is era I dicovered Oscar as a young teenager, followed soon after by Brubeck. I gave up rock'n roll!
I started with Brubeck, and then went to Ahmad Jamal, and Yusef Lateef!
The most important thing is to have fun and Oscar Peterson did it
OP just brings a tear to my eye. Every time. His music is just perfection.
Only recently started listening seriously to jazz and trying to learn of other great artists/albums (though not billion sellers pls) and especially like a piano, though beginning to enjoy trumpet and saxophone and if anyone can steer me in right direction I'd be eternally grateful (I'm enjoying these 'live' recordings, if u know of any more I should be listening to) thank you Mr Goodmusiclistener
Sorry, thank you, Miss/Mrs Goodmusiclistener ❤
The best. ❤❤❤❤❤❤ XX.
Wonderful. Listening to Hymn To Freedom, Wow.
I love OP when he swings, AND I love him when does ballads! He's my favorite pianist of any era, he always sounds fresh and timeless. What a treat to see/hear him and his bandmates in this video compilation when he was at his absolute height.
You said it so i guess i don’t have to!
Siempre genial y refrescante músico impecable!
Absolute musical gold right here, love it!
A big thank you for posting so we can listen watch & enjoy as well!
This is Nice. I feel calm and happy.
Clark-Terry-trumpet 1:08:36 ... & 1:11:23 trumpet and flugelhorn ...VOCAL👏
Inusable ! Géant !
Thank you for bringing the Zeitgeist of the great 60’s
