I’m in my 70’s and played piano most of my life earning a degree in piano. I have many of Oscar’s note for note transcriptions. All I can do is get on my knees and pray. I would be thrilled to have half his technique.
I am 83 now. Oscar have been the salt in my life since I was 15. He is surrounded here by the the most outstanding musicians there are. I lift my hat and are so lucky that I am given the opportunity to be able to listen to this outstanding concert!
Hard to say. Mid 70s he was more athletic, dextrous. His left hand in the 70s was an absolute BEAST. 80s he developed his harmonic invention and seemed to play with more emotion and sensitivity.
I would say all of seventies and the first part of the 80's were when oscar was at his tops. When he had a stroke in 93, he lost some of his speed and was never at the top of his game after that.

@@eggieoffo2590 Both pieces of music may sound similar, mostly because of the tempo, but track 8 is correct and it´s not "Cakewalk". Here you can compare: th-cam.com/video/jhVK19MyvJM/w-d-xo.html Thanks for your help! ☺
Wow! Are these guys tight, or what? OP's fingers dance on the ivories and NHOP's is killing the bass. Joe pass making the guitar sing. I noticed no mistakes and every one of these guys comes in on cue. A pleasure to watch and listen :)
Oscar Peterson: "See? You don't need more than 10 fingers for 88 keys!" NHØP: "Wait until you see what I do with them on four strings!" Joe Pass: "A-one, a-two, a-one-two-three-four"
This is the most perfect music ever produced in the history of mankind, three greatest of all time and an excellent drummer (just imagine accompanying these guys), personally I prefer Art Barkley

Невероятный!!!
I think early-80's Oscar Peterson was when he reached absolute godhood of jazz piano... Used to think it was late-70's but after watching this... :)

@@joeymusto5364 Not to mention the loss of his left-hand dexterity. Sad time. :(
Oscar and NHØP have dedicated 3 life times worth of practice into their craft. Absolutely amazing
