Honestly though celery and citrus isn't a bad mix honestly a little tobasco would pull the mushrooms in a bit more to the mix giving everything that one layer of separations celery and wings lime and hot sauce in tacos Italian sausage and mushrooms but because that heat flavor profile is missing everything probably seems familiar to each other but has room to stand out
Brian is like that one kid in the school lunchroom that would make some weird-ass concoction of food and then someone would bet him that he wouldn't eat it, and of course he'd win the bet because he actually planned to eat it all along.
Jason, I'm on the wagon for right now. While I won't say that I'll never have a nice Scotch with you by the fireside, I appreciate that you're sharing this aspect of your life with us.
If I have a signature cocktail, it's this rum and orange sour: 1 ounce rum 1 ounce orange juice 1/2 ounce simple syrup 1/2 ounce orange liqueur 1/2 ounce lime or lemon juice 1 egg white Dry shake then shake with ice Double strain into a chilled coupe Plenty of variations possible too, so many rums to choose, orange liqueurs, sub out orange for grapefruit, add bitters, egg or no egg, what simple syrup to use. In fact, while writing this I decided to make a variant with blue curaçao, two dashes orange bitters, and a special minty rum I made myself for easy mojitos.
And yep, lovely sour, great orange flavour, with a lovely deep vegetal mint note on the backend and a thick foamy head, and it's a nice greenish blue to remind you of that vegetal mint. I've experimented a bit with the ratio before, and I've figured out sugar is essential to the foam, so it's not a drink you can dry out easily without affecting otther factors, but I don't see why you would.
One thing that I discovered while freestyling is mushed and frozen strawberries cubes instead of ice cubes they ad a lot of flavour and chill your cocktail. 4 cubes 2 part tequila or vodka 1 part lime 3/4 sugar A dash of homemade chilli infusion A hefty pinch of salt Shaken till the cubes melt to completion and strained
My signature cocktail uses deadass peach shrub from that video on cocktail shrubs years ago Dirty Old Town (cocktail) 1 oz Jameson .5 oz simple syrup .5 oz deadass peach shrubs Splash of sweet vermouth (Optional) Combine in shaker and serve on the rocks Toping off with soda water
Is that the first time Jason has actually addressed why he's stopped drinking on the show? Big props to the man to step away from the booze if he felt he had a problem.
Its probably a sensitive thing, as well as they've joked about it in one of the trevor videos, and they made a "demand" that people don't confront him on it. Its probably stepping away from alcohol or a medication he has to take.
My personal favorite drink to make on a hot day, when I get home from work... 2oz Bacardi Rum, 3/4 oz of the cherry juice from your maraschino cherry jar, 3/4 oz Triple Sec, 1/2 oz Simple Syrup, and a dash of Angostura Bitters; shaken and poured over ice. If you want a lengthener, top with a lemon lime soda of your choice. Garnish with a cherry and and orange peel.
Sounds unbalanced on the sweet side. We are thinking of the same maraschino cherry syrup, right? That's a full 2 oz of sweet stuff to just one dash bitters and no sour. I'm sure you like it but I doubt it'll impress a lot of people.
I went with every single choice that Jason went with, except I would've done seltzer to lengthen...and I really wanna try it now. I had a feeling mushroom wildness might actually end up being good too 😂 Cheers yall!
Okay, I'll start with a Negroni Sbagliato as a base. Aperol instead of Campari, Cocchi Americano instead of Sweet vermouth and Grapefruit Lemonade instead of Prosecco! Served with frozen berries!
I dont know if this is actually good, so feel free to try it or give constructive criticism. Here's my cocktail idea: The Sycamore To a stirring glass or shaker(your preference) add: - 2oz dark rum - 1/2oz grapefruit juice - 3/4oz Sweet Vermouth - 1/2oz Demerara simple syrup - 2 dashes of bitters - Ice(preferably a medium to large sized block to prevent too much dilution) Stir or shake, serve up in a chilled coupe or chilled smaller snifter(something like a Libbey 5.5oz). Then garnish with a Grapefruit twist & a luxardo cherry on a cocktail pick. Bonus: Why The Name? | \/ If you're wondering about the name, it is partly because of my pneumonic to remember the parts of a cocktail. Sycamores Can Make Cool Lampstands. In addition to this, sycamore nuts/fruit are nutty but sweet. So I felt that with this cocktail you'd get rich, semisweet, and nutty flavors from the rum and Demerara. You'd then get the full on sweet from the vermouth. And the bitters and grapefruit juice are to give a nice slightly tart balance to this rich and sweet drink, without being something too overpowering like lime or lemon juice, which would take away from the main flavor profile. The luxardo cherry is to somewhat mimic the sycamore fruit, and the optional grapefruit twist is mainly presentation(it looks better than swath, but you could do that instead if you wanted.), but can also turn the citrus up by just a little. Sorry for the long comment. Thanks for reading.
It’s impossible to make my go to at home cocktail anymore, I called it “chaotic sunrise” it was -khaos monster (the reason it’s no longer possible to make anymore as they discontinued/redid it to a way different flavor) -Orange juice -Vodka -orange liquor It was amazing but with the new revamped Khaotic it’s way syrupier and doesn’t taste as good
I'd add M for Modifier there: Some Mushroomy Cocktails Break Sensitive Livers, or Some Cocktails Brushwood May Sensuously Love. I also love nonsense like Smurfs Massaged Casanovas Because Sinbad Levitated.
My signature cocktail, "Gin Cosmopolitan" (a.k.a "Cosmopolitan, but I swapped all the ingredients for others with the same colour"): 6 cl. London Dry Gin ( I normally use Tanqueray) 2 cl. Raspberry syrup ( I normally use Lerums "Bringebær-Sirup", but any brand will probably do) 2 dashes of Angostura aromatic bitters (or more if you like) ca. 4 (or about a handful) ice cubes Shake well in a shaker and strain into a martini glass. Optional, garnish with a frozen raspberry.

"The Brushroom" was great Jason
So sad it went under the radar!
That went way over there heads, I loved it.
I especially like Jason's concoction because it sounds like a tasty drink that you can knock back all night and still safely drive home after.
I love how they run the spectrum from "nonalcoholic fruity drink" to "I want soup that makes me dizzy" and she's so supportive of both
