I'm going through a really hard time in my life right now, a lot of really severe depression, uncertainty if I should even go on living. I got into listening to Kate Bush recently and great music like this is the only thing really helping me to hold on. I simply can't give up now after hearing her music. It's really saved my life, I wish I could thank her in person somehow.
There's just no way to describe her..beautiful, silly, athletic, off beat, girlish, sexy, enchanting, hypnotic, unusual, genius, unique..I could go on..simply delightful. No one else like her.
Last year I had covid. I got my TH-cam activity summary. 300 hours of Kate Bush, music, interviews, all sorts. It didn't feel like anywhere near that long.
I believe Kate is the most original artist of all time. I can't think of anyone even close. Her talent will be enjoyed by many people not born yet (2024).
A truly original, consistently innovative artist. Perhaps uniquely talented in the history of music. Despite her great gifts as writer & performer being apparent from a teenager, she developed a career of sustained quality, while incorporating innovation in vision & dance. All achieved within the transience of 'pop music' where prolonged success is usually based on replaying a number of once loved hits. Kate just made new hits. Greatest artist .of the 20thC I'd suggest.
A constant risk taker all in the name of art. Her performances are sublime. So unique. No one like her. Irreplaceable brilliance. She is operating on another level, another planet.
@@carolinegodden4364 I think she is very much from this planet/ world / nature, but I get what you are saying, there is no one like her, she is really unique.
Her creativity and writing skill are often praised (and rightly so) but the sense of movement, fun and theatrics she puts into all her live performances is much underrated IMO. Everything she does is a visual feast and a joy to watch.
The beauty of Kate Bush is..she didn't just raise the bar for a female songer songwriter in general...she raised the bar for Kate Bush....almost 40 years later....u cannot just rewatch the above clip (as well as others) and just feel utter joy of her existence in our universe....and the future generations who have yet even to be born that will be touched in the exact same way
Clearly, it's just luck of genetics that Kate Bush was a stunning beauty but the ability to combine that natural element with the genius of her art made her one of the most beautiful women ever to grace the planet.
She is a genius artist and underrated. Her performances are as captivating as the music she pulled from deep inside. She inspires me as a musician. But she brings art alive in the truest sense. And honestly…Del Palmer is an incredible bassist and musician in his own rite. I’m a big fan and it shows in my bass playing as well (that pillow like bass cushion- omg amazing).
Del Palmer was a brilliant bass player and helped so much with Kate’s music as he also was her sound engineer. He was an excellent artist releasing 3 albums in his own right.

She actually did this song on Saturday Night Live during her only American performance. She also did the man with a child in his eyes sitting on top of a white grand piano played by the great Paul Schaeffer. And I’m old. I saw this live in 1978.
@@robertwatson9940 She performed two songs live from NYC in front of a studio audience which she did so many times for the BBC. She never performed in the US again. This is because she refused to tour after her first one
Did anybody notice at 1:24 where she sings “ every one of us” with two fingers ? She quickly changes back to one with the funniest expression. She’s adorable in this one. And also a genius
It's funny that you should say this because I've always thought of Kate Bush as a female version of Bowie. As you say very much ahead of her time. Sadly I never got to see Kate perform live but a friend of mine who did said her shows were out of this world... a real performer. I'd love to meet her!
My sister heard this song and asked me if Kate sang "Rolling the Ball" (a mistitle) I had never this song before and thought she was referring to the song "Wow",which I heard the lyric "unbelievable " as "I'm rolling the ball". So now, after about four decades, I know.❤
What a beautiful performance, smile, voice, eyes, soul and heart, there will never ne anyone like this Woman, an absolutely genius. I'm only 19 but i feel very grateful for living on the same time as Kate. We were blessed with her existence.
Whoever does not love Kate Bush after this magnificent, beautiful and funny performance is nothing but a loser... Kate Bush, we love you!!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
So cute and sensual in this performance. Kate's an international treasure, this is by far my favorite version of "Them Heavy People" I've never heard her live with a full group of BG vocalists, this actually sounds live too, it's definitely different than the album version if it wasn't fully live? It's so funny, at this tender age, she had to play the ingenue on stage and in interviews, yet she was 100% fully in control of her image, songs, albums and everything in her output by this point. Yet she still managed to come off so authentically, incredibly nice, humble and sweet in every public appearance and clip. That alone is an amazing achievement for the era, considering how cutthroat the music business was and is. She really is one of a kind, there will never be anyone even remotely like her.
I think I was revising for a test, when I first heard this song. After the test, (which I passed), managed to get hold of the long playing record version of this song. Now forty years later, hearing it again, fantastic. Memories came flooding back. Thanks Kate.
Out there, back when weird was unselfconsciously entertaining, cool, funny & carried the message of love! Kate was clearly having a ball, & so were we! One love!
Good grief she was so far ahead of her time and so unbelievably creative that you have to wonder where she came from! Latterly she has shown that she is completely normal just what you might call a genius.
She was/is one of a kind - I remember watching this when it 1st aired, and I had never seen anyone do a performance of this kind - except in musical theatre and performance art. It seems as if a lot of wildly creative people were signed by the major labels back in the 70s who would *never* get notice today ... she would be an indie act if she were a new artist now.
There are two people I remember from way back when Saturday Night LIve really was not ready for prime time. Leon Redbone, sadly gone now, is one. Kate Bush is the other. I've been addicted to her angelic creativity ever since.

of course not!

One off the best
That was the most entertaining four and a half minutes of my whole life.
Now, that we've got 2021, I can say, she was ahead of her time more than 40 years.
Easily
Awsome Kate . A young Kate full of life 😅💝

Still is
As usual, her dancers crush it.
She is without argument the greatest female pop star ever....unique irreplaceable . The queen of pop.
Never seen this choreography before.
Kate is a genius, always trying something different. Yes so ahead if her time and timeless!
Love this!❤ I was lucky enough to see her in 1979 in Machester (England), and I still have the £3.50 ticket.
Great choreography!
I bet the three of them had a ball doing that routine.
She was so quirky, sexy and talented. And I'm still in love with her after I saw her first on SNL 40+ years ago.
Not overtly sexualised though, just beautiful.
Not Cardi B, or Madonna.
Imagine opening those zips.
I love her dancing, it's so loose and free.
+aucourant it's choreographed, but it's actually telling a story. love it!
The late Del Palmer's bass playing really lifts this song . I can't imagine any other bass line suiting it.
Del Palmer playing bass is amazing he produced some works of his own 3 albums and a beautiful piece of music called firefly he was truly talented
