I was only 8 years old when this was released but I remember hearing it and loving it then. The years passed and my youth came and turned in to adulthood. Still a really good song but other music pressed on and demanded attention too. I have read quite a lot of books but never anything of the Bronte's, possibly because english isn't my first language (I am Swedish) or maybe just because I usually read history novels, that is, books written in modern times but with a historical pretext and setting. However, in about 2010 I came across a TV-adaptation of "Wuthering Heights" starring, then quite unknown Tom Hardy. I was absolutely blown away by it. I suddenly understood the whole meaning of the song and it's lyrics, and it went from a "good" song to a "masterpiece". Seeing her performing live here is mind boggling. Her musicality and sense of tone and pace is unrivaled. My God what a woman she is. I cry like a baby whenever I hear it because of her performance combined with the images of Cathy scratching on the window of Heathcliff's prison.
If you listen to the track used in the video, she's almost note perfect live with the difference being she's moving and singing at the same time, and the effort is emense, but beautiful at the same time. Thank you Kate for all your music
1979, I was 12 years old and stood in a shopping outlet in Perth, Australia when I first heard this song. Been a huge fan ever since then. Still the best female singer/songwriter ever.
Totally agree born in 1960 and was surprised that she was a teenager when this was penned. Thank David Gilmore from Pink Floyd for discovering this rare talent.❤
There is only one drawing of this personality - a total artist. I am from Poland. When I first heard this piece on Polish radio, I was stunned. I was probably 8-9 years old at the time.

Did you notice who was in the front of the audience at 5:12 ? If you were a fan of coronation street you might recognise him his name is Chris Quentin and he played Brian Tilsley from 1978-1989. A little useless bit of info for you there. 😂
@@maurimauri31051964 Also a great player, but he didn't play the solo on Wuthering Heights. Well, not the studio version. Is that him playing live? He's sadly missed.
There is one and will only ever be one Kate Bush, I wish I'd seen her live back in the day, but she is truly a one off, there will never be another like her.
I grew up with this song, and I loved it. Funny enough, for 20 years I never knew who the artist was and in the late 90's and early 2000's it was hardly played in the radio, or in stores. So, every time I heard it, I went around asking total strangers "do you know what's the name of this song, please, who sings it?" I did not grow up in the USA, so usually the answer was "no idea". As a child and a teenager, I could not understand the lyrics either. But even in the USA nobody was able to help me at all. I finally got my answer in 2004, when I heard the names "Heathcliff" and "Cathy" and the scene of the window. This wild, passionate song had already impressed me before I understood what it was about. Now I loved it even more, as it referred to one of my favourite novels at age 15. Coincidentally, I had just finished the original English version of the book a little before I heard the song and understood part of the lyrics for the first time. Everything came around, full circle, nicely.
