@@mainejasonSame here. I am back for flying an F-16 after round about twenty years. Now I am trying to install BMS 4.37.2 on an original version of "Falcon 4.0 Allied Force" but it does not work. BMS Downloader Setup tells me: "Please make sure you install Falcon 4.0 first or run it at least once." Well, Falcon 4 is installed and I did run it once. But I cannot proceed. May I please ask for some help?
@@koagulasepositiv Unfortunately, I believe you have to have the original Falcon 4.0 - the Allied Force version does not fulfil the requirement. You can get the original Falcon 4.0 on Steam for $7. Hope that helps, and thanks for watching!
@@mainejason Thank you so much for your reply 💛 A few hours ago I purchased the original version of Falcon 4 via steam and will try installing BMS 4.37.2 again tomorrow. Thanks again for your reply. Have a great weekend. Love and peace 🌻💛
Excellent video..! With the new system I am building, I am more than ready to get back into BMS, so I would love to see a detailed video about setting up the controllers (TM Warthog), which was such a sticking point for me that I basically gave up my previous attempt to get back into BMS with 4.32.
Thank you! What are the specs on the new system? I use the TM Warthog but have not gone too in depth with it - you give me some ideas... Thanks for watching!
As mentioned at the top of the video, you need to purchase and install a licensed copy of the original Falcon 4.0 game. You can get it on Steam. Just purchase it, install, run it once, then BMS will be licensed. Hope that helps, and thanks for watching!
Holy smokes. You actually replied to a comment on an 11 months old video. Props. Might just have made me tune in again. Just bought falcon, used ur guide, worked perfectly. Hope your havin a great day or night or whatever :)@@mainejason
Ya - It's a complicated game to say the least! Check out the documentation, specifically the Training Manual. Work your way through that and watch other videos. You'll get it!
Hi, when I installed everything, I got a falcon launcher, which when activated, opened a blank window which soon closed. I went into bin, tried to open Falcon BMS.exe, only for it to the same thing. The alternate launcher did not do anything either. Please help this is actually infuriating bc it took forever to get this done.
Is BMS installed at the root of a drive, like "D:\Falcon BMS 4.37" or is it under something like C:\Program Files\... My understanding is that BMS does not like to be nestled too deep into a directory structure.
I believe you can. Each new version creates it's own directory. If you want to be certain, just rename your 4.34 directory, lauch the newest version and see if there are any issues. If not, go ahead and delete the 4.34 directory.
Thanks, one more question for you. Is there some place that has the F-16 joystick setting profile for the TM Cougar HOTAS ? That uses the new 4.37 updater screen settings bar instead of the in game setup screen? Thanks!
@@mainejason My downloads folder is already in a different drive but when I run it, it still goes into my C Drive appdata I believe. Appreciate the fast response btw!
Hmmm. Just to be clear, you downloaded the "Falcon_BMS_4.37_Downloader_v1.1.zip" and extracted it to a drive other than your C: drive. When you run the extracted "Falcon_BMS_Downloader.exe" it should create a directory in the same location as the .exe and start downloading "Falcon BMS_4.37_Full_Setup.exe". It shouldn't write any downloads to the appdata directory. After the game if fully installed, it does write a directory into appdata (at least it did for me) but i is only about 12k in size. -- Without knowing how your system is set up, you mentioned your downloads folder is on a different drive - perhaps verify that in the explorer window path your are indeed on a drive other that C: and its not just a link or shortcut. Another option is to move the Zip file out of the Downloads folder and into a directory that your create on your other drive. Hope this helps.
@@mainejason Hey man so the downloader worked but now when opening the Full Setup, it still seems to be going in my appdata despite it being on my F drive. It’s very confusing as it is definitely on my F drive and the downloader worked but not the setup. It also says “Extract: error writing to file Base.7z”
@@ryonix4674 Note that the Downloader and the Installer are two separate programs and executions. It sounds like you got through the Downloader part. You should now have about a 4Gig setup exe (Falcon BMS_4.37_Full_Setup.exe). When your now run that, make sure you specify where to install Falcon BMS as it shows in the video here: th-cam.com/video/_HrfeCZD1s4/w-d-xo.html The installer will default to C: In the video, I select my E: drive. You would enter F: If you are doing that and it is still installing on your C:, then without actually looking at your machine, I'm at a bit of a loss I'm afraid. Hope this helps
I installed falcon4.0 Japanese version, but when I launch BMS, it warns me to install falcon4.0. Is it necessary to launch falcon4.0 once after installation to be recognized by BMS?
I don't think running the original is necessary, but you could certainly try it. More importantly, make certain you have the original Falcon 4.0 - not Falcon 4.0: Allied Force. BMS will not recognize the newer version. If the above checks out, it's possible the language version is the issue, but I'd doubt it. Might be worth a question on the BMS Forum to verify. Good luck, and thanks for watching!
@@mainejason I have the original 4.0 CD. It used to boot up to BMS 4.34 with no problems. Recently, I reinstalled the widows OS and installed BMS 4.37. I then installed the original 4.0. Should I have installed original 4.0 first and then BMS?
@katohingk Have you run the original version? The reinstall of Windows will have wiped out the registry entries for the original so make sure that is operating. If that doesn't work, I'm afraid I have no answers. Again, I'd recommend going to BMS Forums. Good luck.
okay i assume its a trouble with a server, cuz from time to time it asks me if id like to retry download, and it fails everytime on package 008... any ideas?
There are of course a lot of variables with troubleshooting a problem like that. I have seen some posts where folks have had issues and then it just 'starts working'. If you have verified everything is good with your connection, maybe try again later and see if it resolves. Also, you might try running the installer as Administrator. Good Luck!
There is a lot of information that is missing in order to troubleshoot that error - but, a google search using "BMS 4.37 could not create device on adapter" returned (the first result) a thread on the BMS forum the covers this exact issue. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
I'm just guessing, but perhaps the download is corrupted. Perhaps delete all the downloaded files and run the installer again. Is your connection fast and stable? Again, just my best guess - this is what I would try. Good luck, and thanks for watching!
@@soumyajitsingha9614 What did you get from Steam? BMS is not available there. Are you referring to the original Falcon 4.0? If so, maybe check out Steam support? Good luck!
You mentioned the hash error is with 4.37 and then you mentioned Steam. Falcon 4.0 ( available on Steam ) is not the same as Falcon BMS which is only avaliable on the BMS site. If you are having issues with Falcon BMS 4.37, do as I mentioned in the first post - re-run the installer after cleaning up all the downloads and see if it works. Troubleshooting things like this are very difficult given the limited information. I might suggest you check out the BMS Forum as well. Good luck.
