RUST REPAIR on the Firewall and Kick Panel of my DENTSIDE Ford!

- We're checking the boxes one by one on this project. This week, I focus on more sheet metal repairs with the driver's side kick panel and firewall. This was a tricky repair because nearly all of the factory reference points were rusted away. I first had to peel back the shoddy repairs done over 30 years ago to figure out exactly how to build back the cab structure. Once I had a game plan, I fabricated a new kick panel, firewall patch and performed some repairs on the front pinch weld. I also reviewed two new Chief brand Harbor Freight air tools. I purchased a flanging and spot weld punch tool and an air nibbler. I tried them both out for the first time and give my honest review on both tools. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel!
Don't get discouraged the smile you'll have on your face the first time you drive it ,all the hard work will just be a memory.
Thanks! This rust repair is taking a toll but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Amazing how much you have done, i really thought it would turn out to have to replace cab , but your knowlege & paitence has showed what ya can do.Keep on Cody Gonna be sweet in the end.Great job!!
Thanks Eddie! It’s definitely more work than I thought it would be, but I’m learning a ton and I know it will be solid when it’s done. Thanks for supporting the channel every week!
Cody as a subscriber just wanted to say how proud of you I am for making a awesome TH-cam channel ❓can you please do more updates an videos on you're dad's orange international pickup 🛻 please. That's one good looking truck 👍 God bless you guys
It takes time. I'm still working on mine it's been 3 years now, but I don't have a TH-cam channel, so I work on it when time allows . I shortened the bed of the 67 to put on the 69 I shortened ,I'm waiting on gears and lsd to arrive so I can finish the rebuild on the rearend of the 69 then the shortened bed will go on and it's road ready again then back to the 67.
That flanger looks like a great tool. My experience with a nibbler was similar to that, it's been a number of years since I've used one but it's a handy tool. Don't you have a plasma cutter though? That would be my choice over a nibbler, unless there's a reason not to?
You might be getting bored with rust repair but I think it's really interesting how these trucks were constructed. You do a great job of pointing out how it was built and making sure you're fixing it in the same method. I think it really goes to show that a project we once thought was too far gone actually isn't and with a little creativity and work, you can bring it back. Keep up the great work!
I do have a plasma cutter but I like trying out new tools/techniques. I was hoping it would have produced a little cleaner cut. In hindsight it would have been quicker to use the plasma cutter.
Yeah sometimes I have to step back and take the 1000 ft view of the project and realize how far it’s come already. Just a couple months ago it was a rusty pile. I hope the videos will be useful for someone else doing these types of repairs in the future. It’s kind of fun trying to figure out exactly how these things were built from the factory.
I'm watching all you're videos from the beginning giving a 👍💯 to ever single one. Alot of catching up to do bro
Thanks brother! I appreciate the support and I’m glad you are enjoying them enough to watch them all!
@CodyBuilds why wouldn't I ? You have a great channel bro
Your doing great man!
Thanks! I appreciate it. It’s getting there slowly but surely.
I know it’s a grind but it’s looking good! …ok maybe the grind reference was out of line.😂
😂 giving me ptsd mentioning grinding!

If you spry the area to be cut with WD-40 the nibbles will move smoother
Hey thanks for that tip! I appreciate it. I’m still in the learning phase with a lot of this stuff.
Good job. Keep it up
