"You think you are so worthy? Let me tell you, you are not. That's the point." It still hit me hard to this day. That's the point of the gospel indeed.
I agree Duncan.....especially for me at the end when it flipped from John in the synagogue to John at his writing table, when that one word was spoken....I thought it was brilliant (and I think the word was actually "word"----but not sure will have to watch it again to be sure ;) )
Just re-watched it, its the moment when John and Jesus are choosing a scroll and John talks about what "word" means to the Greeks and it flips to John at the writing table, for that brief moment......brilliant!
I only became a Christian going into lockdown, and was agnostic when I watched the start of season one. The show helped me so much. Can't wait to see more.
Thank you Jesus for Spex76! Thank you for your continued pursuit of him/her. Thank you for The Chosen who has helped Spex76 see Your goodness and love! In Your name we pray, Amen.
My daughter and I openly howled when Jesus wanted the room that might be haunted by the grandmother. It’s this humanity that is so appealing. Great job by the whole team, writers, direction and actors, can’t get enough.
The acting in this show is so amazing! Sometimes I forget that I'm watching a show and I feel like I'm watching the Gospels unfold right in front of me. God bless The Chosen!! 🙏☺
Me too. I Think Jesus speaks trough this movie to many hearts. Thanks to those actors and to the filmmaker! And to those who donated. God bless you all. Blessings in the name of Jesus Christ.
Dallas, you and your team have done an outstanding job , and Jonathan Roumie and as far as that goes all the actors have done a superb job playing their roles, and you explaining each season is wonderful to the insight of why you put things together so well I love the scene of Jonathan talking to the sons of thunder about bringing fire down from heaven, it just told the whole truth what Jesus came here to do, beautiful job! Well Done
I’ve watched episode one of season two like ten times. I cry at the end every time. The blend of the scriptures with Jesus speaking the beginning and John speaking the beginning is so beautiful to me.
Same! Watched it 5 times and planning to watch it again tonight. I also always cry at the end and loved the blend of the scriptures from Genesis and John. The show is divine
@@foodieherrington605 I don’t think it was an insult. Jesus was pointing out that He has high standards for those who follow Him. Those who don’t follow Him won’t be held to the same standards.
I appreciated Jesus repairing the cart axle. It showed him as humble instead of the new celebrity teacher in town. Kind of like washing the apostle’s feet.
@@JRobbyShYes! And he did it (and all what he did, see Mark 7:37) very well, of course, as true God and true man, teaching us by his example how to sanctify our daily work and tasks, whatever they may be.
Yet another shining example of showing His humanity. In all previous movies Christ is portrayed as stiff and unyielding. More as, in Dallas' words "celebrity preacher come to town." Would Jesus had preached "love your neighbor" and then walked right by someone "but not him. F' him. He has a broken axel"? Of course not! He would climbed under the wagon and fixed it, using the skills he learned from his father Joeseph. And been glad to do so. "I came to serve, not be served." Thank you Dallas for putting our Savior's humanity on display like no other film ever has!
I discovered The Chosen last year during severe lockdown and it has been my best friend ever since. God bless Dallas and all the crew. My prayers for all of them.
Only one question: How does a grown man get through even one episode without weeping? Thank you for presenting a medium that has stimulated so many parts of my heart! Shalom!
Weep away! You are being a great example for the boys and men in your life!! We are to come to Him as children and children cry (adults should too but...).
I didn't get the things that Peter said about John the Baptist only because this is taking place much later after Jesus has gone back to Heaven and after Pentacost. So Peter has the Holy Spirit and John the Baptist was beheaded. I can't imagine Peter still calling John "creepy John" and other derogatory descriptions so long after the resurrection and the beheading. He could have said those things before the beheading and resurrection, but at this later time, I can't see it.
Those jokes by James and John were ad-lib????! I love how they get into the character so much and embrace the show so much that they help create it. So beautiful. 🙏🏼 God bless you alllll
I was delighted to hear that those actors were so comfortable in their characters that they had the impulse to include hints as to their feelings about the other apostles in their spontaneous Script generation! It helps make those relationships feel more fleshed out!
I agree, you can clearly see the Holy Spirit ordering each step of the way in this.. I love this ! I remember when you came to us in the beginning telling us your vision, it has gone far and above all my hopes.♥️
As a 57 year old that has been in church my entire life and who has visited Israel, I can say that I truly feel this series is inspired by the Spirit. Everyone of us can see ourselves in one of these characters. I loved the way this episode began, with John writing and the ending was powerful. I can quote a lot of scripture and feel I know the Bible well. I have no desire to watch this show with scripture in front of me trying to catch a flaw. That misses the point. This series is a ministry. It is ministering to me and I can't say thank you enough. To God be the glory!
Old movies about Jesus made him so pious that he was hard to connect to but this series makes him more relatable. Knowing that he was a man who is without sin but I’m sure that the enemy tried to attack him relentlessly because he knew who he was but even though he was attacked more than anyone in history he was still without sin and always serving others. The son of God
The Evil One takes pieces of truth and twists them or uses them out of context to get people to believe Good is evil and Evil is good. Jesus was condemned for blasphemy - a man claiming to be God. When He was indeed just that, and proved it by his miracles. And continues to prove it even today.
Jesus saying “oh, I’ll take that one” in response to the “haunted” room was my favorite!! I laughed out loud, rewound it, watched it and laughed and loud again. Every time I think of the scene, I smile. It was perfect! I am so glad you left it in. And I was thankful for the scene afterwards - not because I felt it was necessary to explain things, but because it taught a wonderful truth about God’s timing. Thank you.
I can understand the impulse to interact with other fans about what we see. We are all starved for personal contact these days. But it is certainly true that typing out questions will actually interfere with the focused attention needed to process what is happening on screen.
I want to add something if you do not mine. After 50 years of reading scriptures and having a personal relationship with Jesus, I want to say I have never been more excited about following Jesus than I am now. This production has made me realize how human Jesus and the disciples were. I am praising God for the characterization of these followers. As a writer myself I am honored to see how your ability to do this is truly a gift from God. We are loving this and I am thankful for Karen Kingsbury in letting us know this existed when Season 1 was available. We are grateful and are passing it on to others to see. This is really what I was hoping I would see. The humanity of God. Be blessed and thank you for sharing your gifting.
We tend to think we are picked for something [a job, a sport team] because of our abilities. Jesus chose people because of their weakness and willingness to listen. The main point of Trusting in Jesus is to let Him do the heavy lifting. We just set the stage.
@@christibritton4542 HAHA yess well said. I actually love that. He ain’t looking for someone who’s ready and perfect. He’s looking for those who will love Him. All the disciples love God except Judas but the rest loved Him enough to follow Him. That’s all Jesus and ABBA want and need surrendered hearts!!
@@thekingdomhouseofdavids3164 I think Judas loved Jesus in his own way - that is why he says ' I have betrayed innocent blood' and hung himself, thinking he couldn't be forgiven. My thoughts have been that he was looking for a military leader, as were so many Jews of the time. That he misunderstood the miracles, and in knowing Jesus power to heal and raise dead thought that by turning Jesus over to Sanhedrin that he could 'force His hand' to make Jesus take the next step of showing His powers and bringing about the earthly kingdom, drive out the Romans and restore the Throne of David. Sometimes we get so invested in our desires and beliefs, that we miss the truth. Each of the disciples, even Peter, had a distorted vision of Jesus teachings. Judas' was the worst distortion, but God used his actions to display Jesus love and willingness to die for us.
That was funny. They way they made Peter try to get in the camera view low key took me out of the story for a bit. Like I was thinking why he trying to get in the camera. Felt like a social media moment but was still funny.
"Too soon?" and "Oooh I'll take that one!" are my favorite funny lines that you slip in. I absolutely enjoy hearing the humor. It's simple and subtle. But I also love that Jesus tells John, The Creation is one of his favorite memories. Again, it's slipped in and not made to draw attention to it.
Yes, I love how the humour and so much of the spiritual truth is not overdone and hammered. It’s gentle and often takes me by surprise. I also loved hearing Jesus say the creation was a favourite memory. Stunning!
Oh my goodness, that was an AMAZING LINE! I wasnt sure I heard it the first time. I asked my family, “Did he just say that was a good memory?” Perfect!
I LOVED that part! I was watching this episode by myself and I texted my husband, "what would it be like for the Savior to ask you what to read for a sermon?" And he, who up to that point hadn't seen the show at all said, "I would totally suggest something! I would suggest Genesis 1 and ask Him to share personal experiences" And that's totally what was suggested!! And when I told my husband that, he watched s2 e2 with me and now he's hooked. Haha! Such a good part!
I loved how Jesus turned around & gave John that “this-is-what-you-get-when-you-remain-calm-polite-humble” look 😂 as soon as the Priest invites Him to the temple to read. I love how such attention is paid to the details❤️
As a believer in God my whole life (I am 66) I always wondered why God would exclude other religions that didn't believe that Jesus was the only way to him. So I thought there must be many paths to God. The times we are living through right now have made me doubt my attitude. Watching the Chosen has made Jesus real to me. I am going to explore my faith more by finding a church to attend and start reading the bible. I am thoroughly enjoying the show and not comparing it to scripture because I know so little of the bible. I can't thank you enough for making this series. You have brought me closer to Christ our lord and savior.
I laughed so hard I cried😭😂😂😂, when Jesus told James and John , " So you wanted to use the power of God to rain fire on these people?" 😂😂😂😂. That was brilliant.
I so appreciated that you could see sternness in Jesus face when he was chastening them...and then, how He transitioned to the softer side. It was palpable, and beautifully done!!
Also loved how you showcased to us that not everyone gets their healing instantly. Some people have to WAIT like Melech got healed the next day and we need to understand & accept that😇
Also, for some of us, salvation was a journey. The first time we heard about Jesus was not when we got saved; salvation came later as we studied Scripture and got to know Jesus.
I just discovered The Chosen and I am glad I did. It humanizes Jesus and His disciples more than anything else I have seen in my soon to be 67 years. God bless you! I will keep watching.
This who think of the Gospels as “biography” will be bothered by the story telling here. Modern biography makes a claim to exactitude that cannot be sustained. We do not “really” know what Abraham Lincoln was really like despite the thousands of works written about him.
Agreed, the Chosen's portrayal of JESUS and the disciples is so unique and relatable you just feel like you are with people you know and love and can relate to. I couldn't get enough of it when I first "discovered" it. You just want it to go on and on forever. And congratulations on your upcoming 67th Birthday. Imagine a Chosen-like JESUS coming to eat birthday cake with you that day😇🌹🌹🌹✝️
It’s amazing because the writers humanize Jesus. But, he comes across as more divine because he is fully man/fully God. It’s amazing how the writers and actors were able to capture that.
Dallas, thank you for putting in the Shiva in the scene with Mother Mary and John. I looked it up to find out what it was and learned that it was the 7-day mourning period for a loved one in Jewish custom. I learn so much from each episode and then I share what I’ve learned with others. Praise the Lord.
@Pat Lance Pat, please don't misunderstand me. I am NOT worshipping an actor!! However his portrayal of our Lord is such that I could easily imagine Jesus actually being this way. I think it is very hard not to imagine Jesus in a particular way. Obviously we do not know what He actually looked like but we can imagine how He interacted with the people around Him through reading the Gospels. I believe the Holy Spirit is using the Chosen to enhance our understanding of Jesus and the Gospels. Believe me, I am NOT praying to Jonathan Roumie. I pray to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The Son of the living God!! No matter what He looks like!
The actor playing John was so absolutely phenomenal in the scene watching Jesus read the scroll at the synagogue. You can see in his face - he is amazed and awestruck, rebuked, forgiven, loved and just stepped into a revelation of who Jesus is. I’d love to see the BTS or commentary how the actor prepared for this scene. (But also, maybe not. Will it ruin the magic? Aaack I don’t know what I want! haha) All I know is I played this scene over and over multiple times. It was breathtaking!
I just read an article, why I'm here, that the actor said Dallas told him to just be proud in the scene. But then Roumie looked at him while reading the scroll and he just started welling up and trying to stop himself because it wasn't the direction he was supposed to go, but that one tear got past.
I never get tired of watching this show and I don't normally like rewatching things. I like every single episode. I don't know if I have a favourite episode.
I’m with you, I very rarely ever watch anything more than one time but I have to admit I have watched season one at least five times and I still need a box of tissues sitting beside me even though I know what the next scene is.
AGREED Family! I love that The Chosen compliments the new testament beautifully. Dallas even tells us to read your Bible, don't only rely on this to feed you. But it softens my heart and paints every scene that would be difficult to do if I only prayed while I read it. I cannot imagine how each episode can get better! I'm excited to see how Paul will get introduced 🤔🙏. Peace and love in our Lord Jesus Christ and our God the Father☝️
I agree. Everyone has heard about the Good Samaritan but has anybody ever thought of the other characters involved. And to see that Melek carried that guilt around for years until Jesus said He didn’t die, and with the joke afterwards was like a huge “You are forgiven!”
It was a clever bit of subtle Christology to follow up that important truth with a clear claim to Godhood. To say in the hearing of a Jewish man in that time “I am what I am” was to invite the dangerous connection with the actual name that God gave Moses at the burning bush. But that claim was far from an isolated incident in Jesus’ ministry...
@@brittapetersen6872 Yes! I had tears dropping al throughout this episode, especially the relationship building with John,"the apostle whom Jesus loved".🤗 I love that is emphasized, And how John shared with Jesus the thinking behind JOHN 1:1 and JOHN 1: 14☝️.....That tugged on my heart on just how great it would of been being knowing Jesus during His ministry,....AND knowing He loved you dearly as a friend and brother! I can't wrap my head around that privilege
@@andreanewell628 Exactly! Claims such as "Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. Then took they up stones to cast at him..." (John 8:58,59).
Yes HIS humanity is so precious yet without sin no darkness in Him That is who Father God is Holy yet so absolutely loving not at all soft on sin but loving the sinner so much willing to die on a cross I bless the day when I was born again Such grace and mercy overwhelms me completely All the actors have made an impact on everyone I know God bless them all
I have watched The Chosen so many times. I purchased the first season and pre ordered the second season. I watch the reaction videos, interviews, zoom calls, fan videos, commentaries. I have learned so much. I pray for the entire Chosen Family which includes cast, crew, fans. The evil one uses media for evil, GOD uses it for good. I thank GOD and you for this series.
This show is so beautifully written. The acting is very powerful. We absolutely love it!! Thank you cast and crew for all of your hard work. God bless you 🙏❤️
Dallas, it really resonated with me when you stated "that story is dead now" in regard to the Samaritans past actions. The devil is persistent in reminding us of our past actions/sins and thus we feel shame when those glimpses cross our minds. This is not how Jesus wants us to live. Moving g forward, when this happens, I will recite to. Myself "that story is dead". Thank you and God bless.
I agree Dallas, stepping back to just watch, absorb and enjoy has been great for me. I've actually turned off the chat to help with the distraction as well. This show has been such a blessing to me, brought me so much closer Jesus during a very trying time in my life. Thank you for following Gods direction for your life 🙏
4:00 When "little" James says He missed Jesus, I Cried so hard I think I wailed, it hit me in the feels. And I was properly impressed with myself when I was uncovering it was Nathaniel. Really great TV! And I didn't recognize John so that was a nice surprise. And Hallo and welcome to Matthew's Beard!
@@annjoseph5429, yes, they were mourning Big James. And little James was also remembering his first meeting with Jesus and responding to ten years or so of missing His physical presence.
@@VladScousov That divine soft compassionate look on Jesus’ face. People threw stones at Him, mocked them, spat on them but He remained so patient and calm (treated like that being Son of God yet no guile) & stopped even His disciples from fighting back - He marvelously portrayed the true nature & character of God ❤️
I absolutely loved the beginning of this episode! You could feel the emotion of John and how he wanted to capture everything. Mary and John talking at the end together was the kicker and my tears just flowed. I love the gospel of John. Whether it did or didn’t happen that way in real life, you guys made this beautiful and real to me. I loved it! This episode was amazing and I can’t wait to see what happens next! Thank you!
I prefer to watch each episode first without distraction, so I hide the chat when watching the live premieres. But afterwards, I love hearing things like this. More, please! I'm so glad you decided to continue it.
It's an incredible episode, chocked full of Easter eggs & poignant moments. That single tear of John's got me & out of nowhere. So far, John has been the tough guy, now jockeying with Simon. So many exciting & curious moments ahead. Such a brilliant, deeply entertaining series.
The character of Jesus is so believable it reduces me to tears. I’m so desperate to see and touch Jesus it hurts my hearts.. the chosen really helps with this desire. Watching the chosen helps to ease my loneliness it gives me hope. Thank you so much ❤️🙏🏽
Dallas, I have been a believer for over 45 years! I know the Bible very very well, and I get what you're saying about how some believers watch the show and don't seem to enjoy it as much due to trying to figure if the scenes is accurate to scripture, (I think that's what you're saying, anyway!) I learned early on, in the first season, how I should watch THE CHOSEN, and I am really enjoying the way you've written the "possibilities" of how some events may have occurred, and I don't think that you are changing or adding to the historical context that changes what scripture talks about. In the end, I see CHRIST being glorified, and at times I am moved to tears as I see the truth of scripture revealed in the scenes. Clearly you have labored to make sure that THE CHOSEN is not just another "Hollywood hit piece" about JESUS! It is a film written from the heart of a true believer who truly loves JESUS CHRIST and honors GOD'S Word! Thank you!
I agree. I’m kind of a bible tete, like I read it not just to hear the Lord but for fun, from I was a little child, but the talent, the gifting God has given you guys as writers to bring out truths thru your storytelling blows my mind, to the point that I feel that the Holy Spirit is in this somehow. I could go on and on. The thieving Samaritan, I mean, who’d have thunk! Vs the Good Samaritan!?! Brilliant!
Thank you Dallas for your comments on Season 2 Ep 1. My joyful response to every scene in the episode is all-encompassing, as my whole being embraces the brilliant weaving of dialogue into scenes that are performed with such sensitivity by the actors that the layers of the story bring a depth of emotion that causes my heart and spirit to rejoice and praise God again and again with tears!! 💜🙌🙏
The scene where Jesus rebukes James and John and the moment where he laughs about the fire from heaven is also my most favorite part of the episode 😂 My second favorite is when they’re all like, “WE LOST JESUS WHERE IS HE???” and then it cuts to Him down in the dirt fixing someone’s broken cart 😂🥰
Actually, I’ve been surprised at how much I’ve appreciated by watching any of the episodes the second time! The acting, writing and meaning opens my eyes and it’s almost difficult to put into words. It becomes more than I took in watching initially. I almost feel like the character of the woman at the well - “I’m going to tell EVERYBODY!”
The more we watch each episode the more is revealed to us. so many tidbits and little nuggets hidden to find just like Gods living word !! such a great series the best we have ever binge watched !! we watch each episode at least 3 times💗💗💗
It is impossible to explain how much I love this show. I've watched both seasons 5 times since October 2021 when I first heard about it. I'm sharing the app with strangers I meet in stores. I've been a Christian for decades, and I love how these writers and actors and crew are bringing those accounts to life with humor and respect for the material and so many layers of meaning - most intentional, but some God-inspired, I'm sure - that I can watch 5 times and still come away with a new appreciation for what happened. I hope, if we are in the end times and we do get Raptured before the end of the series, God will allow these folks to finish up there while we wait for Judgment Day. I have no doubt The Chosen will be in Heaven's library. Thank you, Dallas and everyone else involved, God especially, for making this happen. Blessed are You, O Lord our God, King of the Universe! Great is Your faithfulness!
I screamed in joy to watch season 2 episode 1. I think there were moments I maybe danced around the house. I love the chosen, it has blessed me as someone who had a lot of self worth issues and health issues. I have been a Christian for 15 years and a diehard christian for the last 8 years. Watching something so drawn to explain the characters of the books we read from the word helps us see how they go through everything walking side by side with the messiah. I cried because daily sometimes I ask God how he sees me. And the episode of he sees you just made me cry. The devil has tried to get me to see my life in a crippling way and this show has taught me to see things with a new perspective. And God has been healing me emotionally and little here and little there physically.
Ya know I thought to myself, "Man, Dallas went a little light on the 99 thing when Jesus was talking in the city", then you brought it back around at the farm like a right hook to the soul. OMG. My wife and I were both in tears. Had to pause it and take a little breather. Then you finish it off with Jesus' "Too soon?" line so we're laughing with a face full of tears. It seems like every episode there's a moment when the Holy Spirit works through you, your writers, and your actors and you so well NAIL it. It brings the Spirit into the room like the Kool Aid man coming through the wall (but we're okay with the hole in the wall because it was awesome). Thank you for continuing to truly broadcast the seeds. By far the finest thing available in media today.
Thank you so much, Dallas, for giving us some insights on the Season 2 premiere episode! I pray for the continued success of The Chosen in spreading the word of God.
“I ask much of those that follow me but little of those that don’t” my favorite line from this episode! I love The Chosen not just because of the show but also because of all the updates we get on TH-cam. All of the disciples were human that God used then and now God uses us. I don’t think the first is greater than the latter so I love seeing the journey that Dallas and his team is on in creating this show for God and it means just as much to me to see the hand of now as then!
Nope, my favorite was a few moments later when Photina says that Jesus is not afraid of ghosts, then Andrew steps into the house and says, "But I might be." That cracks me up every time!
Honestly, the synchronized stare that Andrew and Peter do when they look at Matthew as he tells the group in the table that they lost Jesus always makes me chuckle.
Im not sure how many will take this, especially since I'm catholic... but I dont just see this for the historical perspective im reignited by the parables you use to bring the word to life. Your not taking away from it nor adding to it, but making it clearer and definitely understandable to many. The modern language or situation makes this so relatable... and again helps us know Jesus. I love the side of this man & our God Jesus... thank you all.
@@michaal105 just how I know protestants do not think Catholics follow scripture. So I'm sure some would love to argue the points... this is one of those arguments that I can see someone throwing sola/solo scriptura at the comment.
Keep in mind that the Bible teaches against following another Jesus. Some examples of this within the catholic church.... Purgatory implies that Jesus death, burial and resurection were not enough to atone for our sins. Also the Bible teaches that idol worshippers will not inherent the Kingdom of God. Worshipping Mary for example, is idol worship. Praying to the dead is necromancy, which is forbidden by God. Please read your Bible and head God's warnings. Take them seriously. Your eternal life and where you spend it depends on it. Don't be so loyal to a person, church or denomination that you lose your soul. I say this with love and concern. God bless. 🙏
@Turtle EXACTLY! But somehow without knowing catholicism they believe we do... ta daa... you have a lot to learn MaryBeth... I will ask Mary to intercede on your behalf.
Watched season one at least 3-4 times each. Every time caught more & more little things I missed. So grateful for all of your blood sweat & tears. I believe Jesus is being lifted up, & millions will be drawn to him. 🙌🏼
Dallas, as you are talking I’m looking at the set and remembering the heart wrenching video you did as you were trying to start on season 2. Having to deal with the pandemic travel restrictions, mask mandates, and a nasty virus seemed unsurmountable! What a great God we have. We prayed and He answered with volume! We saw an impossible situation and He gave us a beautiful answer! And look what we ended up with......a magnificent season two! I know how, actually I can only try to imagine, how incredibly hard you worked. Thank you. You, your family and the entire cast and crew remain in my prayers for a strengthening and renewing. May God bless you all!
I'm terrified watching each episode that the actors egos or the production artistry will be put ahead of The Word. Then I'm moved to tears by the Spirit with every episode.
Season 2 episode 1 is perfect. Every time The Chosen goes out on a limb to guess at the way things may have happened, it rings true. The writing of John's gospel is a great example. The way it's presented here makes so much sense. The end, with the parallel between Jesus reading from Genesis and John finding the right opening was so good it hurt. Keep it up, Dallas Jenkins and team!
What a great beginning scene, so creative. The jokes were great. The episode was amazing. I’m bracing myself for the last supper, crucifixion and resurrection. I’ve got tears now just thinking about it.
I love watching the episodes again and again. It becomes so much a part of me that it is then easier to share it with others. I have a learning Disability. I don't always process information accurately the first time and that can cause problems. I want to get things correctly.
I’m blown away by the sensitivity and depth and nuances of these episodes . I never feel patronized or talked down to. My Bible knowledge is challenged and stimulated and enriched . What a sublime experience to watch !!
I wish I had words...I always have words...except now. 💕 This show inspired me long before it was ever made, as did you, Dallas Jenkins, for all the potential it had to reach a slumbering world, so desperately in need of our Messiah. That is why I invested the little bit I could, back then, and I could not be more grateful that GOD allowed me to be a part of bringing “The Chosen” to the world. I am but one small speck, yet all the crumbs fit together to make a satisfying loaf to feed the world, and this humble ‘breadcrumb’ is so proud to be part of this SPECTACULAR production. Who, but GOD, could ever have known, that this world would be so perfectly primed and timed, to receive the Gospel, in such a relatable and digestible manner?!! I am in awe... I cry tears of joy, and relearn so many sacred truths through each episode, effortlessly, as I allow myself to immerse in the stories, and get to know the characters who have filled my life and biblical study for 4+ decades. These men and women were once far from my understanding as real people, yet now, through “The Chosen”, they are as real and alive, as any human I know...perhaps more so! I have yet to thank you, Dallas...truly thank you, on behalf of a broken world, seemingly unable to think clearly. Your ‘Hand Of GOD’ production, seeps in and plants seeds of Truth that cannot be skewed by evil, no matter it’s diabolical attempts, and we are all better human beings, for what you have delivered into our Heart of Hearts!! GOD Bless YOU, beyond your wildest hopes and dreams and imagination!! 💕🙏🏼💕👍🏼👏🏼🙌🏼💪🏻 PS. Things were rough this past year, and I was unable to help, but I am excited to donate for Season 3 and beyond!! I just binge watched Season One, AGAIN!!! ☺️ PPS. “I’ll take that one...” (haunted room - cracked me up!!) 🤣😂🤣😂 I LOVE the humor that humanizes these wonderful biblical heroes, making them so relatable!! PPPS. Clearly, I DO have words?!! 😆
Im from the Philippines 🇵🇭😊and i thank God for the people who pay it forward so we can watch it free at the chosen app🥰🙏⚘ I love this series in general becoz it shows the human side of Jesus, very human yet divine love his expressions you can see that he is full of compassion 🥰❤⚘ Thank God for Dallas too,for giving him the wisdom n knowledge God bless your heart sir🙏❤⚘
Thank you for all your doing. You would not believe how this show has impacted everyone from children to the oldest of the community. No doubt God has His hand on you all. Thanks again!
the end of the episode was my FAVORITE, it was SOOOOOO BEAUTIFUL how it portrays john's journey throughout the episode and the deep impact Jesus had on John by the end of the episode, and how it affected John's gospel. SO PROFOUND AND SO BEAUTIFUL. I loved loved loved the flash forward in the beginning. There's such a depth and maturity to the show in this season; just when i thought - how can it get better than season 1?? :)
Morning 😀😍 I'm so in love with this show! Good news my husband and I are getting baptized today, was so upset thought it would never happen! Just yesterday I spoke to my husband and I agree not everyone will believe and follow..I feel that the line has already been drawn and those who believe believe and those who don't aren't going to change. .I'm ready and waiting for Jesus ! Big love and Shalom 😍
Thank you, Dallas, for the summary of Episode 1/Season 2. It was very helpful. I was expecting something really shocking at the beginning of the show and I didn’t really have that moment at the beginning. I did catch all the things you referenced in this video (as a preachers kid growing up with the scriptures read in our home daily); but the most powerful moment of the whole episode was at the end where Jesus was reading from Genesis and John was writing the beginning of his book. I realize that nowhere in scripture references that this is how this happened but it was a very plausible scene and made it come to life. Thank you!
Watched it a few times. Afterwards I realized who they were speaking of in the opening. What threw me was Mary calling " John" son..... Dallas this was well filmed.. Thank You🙏
I dare say that interaction was especially hard on people who are less familiar with scriptural details like the last words of the cross. But what a meaningful context in which to learn such things!
I love it when Jesus picks up the first scroll and he says that's a favorite memory of mine to show you that He is the Word He was in the beginning. That also resonates with the beginning of the book of John
Dallas, I so laughed when Simon was “describing” Jesus when he was looking for him! “He’s this tall, with a beard.” 🤣🤣🤣 Hmmmm, probably described half the men in town! Thanks! 😁
I look forward to each episode. You have put flesh and blood to the texts of the gospels! Thank you for your inspired works. Praying for your much continued success and inspiration with every new episode.
Inspired writing, inspired performers. And your whole approach to addressing and enriching what we have in the scriptures is expressed by 2 moments from last season between Nicodemus and Samuel. These moments define the reason this presentation of the gospels will touch so many: the moment Nicodemus warns Shmuel about forcing God into a box; the moment Shmuel insists that for them, the Law is God. Your approach frees the Gospel from the box so many have confined it to and emphasizes the message over the text. Scripture lies not in what we read, but in what we understand. Your approach will help billions more UNDERSTAND. May the Lord continue to bless and inspire You All.
I watched season 1 last year and I LOVED IT. I decided to watch it again before season 2 came out and I fell in LOVE with it even more! I really enjoy how you’ve given every character a personality, I love the small jokes and I also truly enjoy that I have to look and listen and solve small mysteries like a puzzle. Every movie I’ve watched apart from the Passion, Jesus is boring and serious. I’ve never felt He was accurately depicted. Yes, of course there’s seriousness but they were human, they would have been humour and learning curves etc. Keep going....don’t worry about the negative because there’s A LOT of us out there that LOVEEEEEE this show! God bless you guys, I pray that this show opens people’s ears and eyes. 🙏🏻🥰❤️
I don't always agree with everything the show has done, but I can't help but respect the thought that goes into creating The Chosen and the dedication to glorify God with it.
"You think you are so worthy? Let me tell you, you are not. That's the point." It still hit me hard to this day. That's the point of the gospel indeed.

So true! That part spoke to me as well :)

The funny thing was Jesus looked angry... LOL... I thought he only got Angry with the money sellers. I love the way Jesus is being portrayed.
@@onederment, hypocrisy and self-righteousness earned angry rebukes from Jesus often in the Gospels.
that intro scene and the ending scene with John writing John 1 were truly stunning. Amazing writing and directing
Yeah, I absolutely love how the opening scenes connect with the ending scenes. Jenkins is a story-telling genius.
I only became a Christian going into lockdown, and was agnostic when I watched the start of season one. The show helped me so much. Can't wait to see more.

Dallas, you and your team have done an outstanding job , and Jonathan Roumie
and as far as that goes all the actors have done a superb job playing their roles, and you explaining each season is wonderful to the insight of why you put things together so well
I love the scene of Jonathan talking to the sons of thunder about bringing fire down from heaven, it just told the whole truth what Jesus came here to do, beautiful job!

Lol! Watched it 5 times so far and now watching Season 1 again. Impatiently watching for ep 2
My favorite line was when Jesus said to Rama’s father, “ I ask a lot of those who follow me, but I ask little of those who do not...” 🔥
Do you think it was a subtle insult to Rama’s father even though that doesn’t seem to be jesus’ way?
@@foodieherrington605 I don’t think it was an insult. Jesus was pointing out that He has high standards for those who follow Him. Those who don’t follow Him won’t be held to the same standards.

i have 4 siblings. my mother often say we were " jockeying for positions." Thanks Dallas.
I appreciated Jesus repairing the cart axle. It showed him as humble instead of the new celebrity teacher in town. Kind of like washing the apostle’s feet.
It was as if Jesus enjoyed doing what he had learned growing up. Like Will Rogers always liked riding horses.
@@JRobbyShYes! And he did it (and all what he did, see Mark 7:37) very well, of course, as true God and true man, teaching us by his example how to sanctify our daily work and tasks, whatever they may be.

Jesus probably learned skills from His Foster Father, St. Joseph the carpenter.🙏✝️🌟🪴🌠❤️
Yet another shining example of showing His humanity. In all previous movies Christ is portrayed as stiff and unyielding. More as, in Dallas' words "celebrity preacher come to town."
Would Jesus had preached "love your neighbor" and then walked right by someone "but not him. F' him. He has a broken axel"?
Of course not! He would climbed under the wagon and fixed it, using the skills he learned from his father Joeseph. And been glad to do so.
"I came to serve, not be served."
Thank you Dallas for putting our Savior's humanity on display like no other film ever has!
I'd say that speaks volumes about the quality of both the show and the person who is watching it. God bless.
You're comment just made me cry!! 💙😭
Tears show your heart. That’s a good thing.
Jesus wept. I’d bet more it happened more often than it was commented on in scripture. And He told us to mourn with those who mourn.
talking about humorous lines, I think it's hilarious Peter keeps referring to John the Baptist as "Creepy John" :D
As I recall, John was a bit creepy in the episode that we saw him in.
@mariebodine9263 maybe it was "for the sake of remembering how we used to talk at the time" 😂 yk so that we have an 🤌accurate account 🤌 😂😂
Amen!

Amen
Thank you.
Rule : don't use chat while watching new episode. Lol. You'll miss a lot. Put the chat down. Focus. Enjoy. Eat popcorn. 🤣
The people typing away in the Chat are also likely the people who talk and ask questions in a movie theatre.
Of course you can always watch it again over and over like I do!!

I'll just say Hi and salute your comment 'cause you'll not likely see me in chat either😁👍
I like how you humanized the disciples, they were just like us, each with their own issues and yet Jesus chose them and was patient with them.
Hmmm-like how He is patient with me?
We tend to think we are picked for something [a job, a sport team] because of our abilities. Jesus chose people because of their weakness and willingness to listen. The main point of Trusting in Jesus is to let Him do the heavy lifting. We just set the stage.
@@christibritton4542 HAHA yess well said. I actually love that. He ain’t looking for someone who’s ready and perfect. He’s looking for those who will love Him. All the disciples love God except Judas but the rest loved Him enough to follow Him. That’s all Jesus and ABBA want and need surrendered hearts!!
me too, me too.
When Andrew was repeating what John the Baptist said 'BEHOLD'...an Simon jumps in finishing by ' I Ate A New bug' 🤣
I liked that moment a lot too! haha
"Creepy John" 😁

That was funny. They way they made Peter try to get in the camera view low key took me out of the story for a bit. Like I was thinking why he trying to get in the camera. Felt like a social media moment but was still funny.

"Too soon?" and "Oooh I'll take that one!" are my favorite funny lines that you slip in. I absolutely enjoy hearing the humor. It's simple and subtle. But I also love that Jesus tells John, The Creation is one of his favorite memories. Again, it's slipped in and not made to draw attention to it.
Yes, that WAS BEAUTIFUL
Yes, I love how the humour and so much of the spiritual truth is not overdone and hammered. It’s gentle and often takes me by surprise. I also loved hearing Jesus say the creation was a favourite memory. Stunning!
Oh my goodness, that was an AMAZING LINE! I wasnt sure I heard it the first time. I asked my family, “Did he just say that was a good memory?” Perfect!
I may sound really dumb but I didn’t understand why Jesus said “too soon” 😝 Can anyone please explain?
I LOVED that part! I was watching this episode by myself and I texted my husband, "what would it be like for the Savior to ask you what to read for a sermon?" And he, who up to that point hadn't seen the show at all said, "I would totally suggest something! I would suggest Genesis 1 and ask Him to share personal experiences"
And that's totally what was suggested!!

I love how the disciples are afraid of ghosts. Really sets up Jesus walking on water
Yes!
I never thought about it like that!!!
Great observation!
Oh man, now I can't wait for walking on water lol.
And I laughed so hard when Jesus said, 'Oh, that's going to be my room".
Awesome reminder that delay is not denial❣️
LOVE our JESUS and The Chosen forever❤️❤️❤️✝️
Reminds me of a saying I've heard before: Salvation happens once, but not all at once.
My favorite part of Season 2, episode 1, was the giddiness and joy exhibited by the lady who was at the well. Brings tears of joy to my heart. TY
Same here. She was truly redeemed. Gives me much hope 😌

He’s just amazing. I keep forgetting he’s not Jesus lol
I'd love to hear about this scene from "John", too. I think it's my favorite scene so far. (although I loved the calling of Matthew, too)
I just read an article, why I'm here, that the actor said Dallas told him to just be proud in the scene. But then Roumie looked at him while reading the scroll and he just started welling up and trying to stop himself because it wasn't the direction he was supposed to go, but that one tear got past.
Abe Martell was stellar as Big James - loved his acting and his chemistry with John was brilliant.
I like him better, tbh!
Still miss Kian tho 😔. I loved his goofiness

The scene of the thief was the most innovative and creative story telling I have seen in an interpretation the gospels.
Yes, complex, unwinding and really caught me. Gorgeous
I agree. Everyone has heard about the Good Samaritan but has anybody ever thought of the other characters involved. And to see that Melek carried that guilt around for years until Jesus said He didn’t die, and with the joke afterwards was like a huge “You are forgiven!”
My favorite part is when Jesus says "I am a man". People forget that He was also a man in every sense and He had all the characteristics of a man.
I love how he delivered that line, and then the moment where John is a little mesmerized right after he says "I am who I am"

Am happy that Mary is giving Matthew some love. He's really thrown by Thomas & that's going to make for some interesting friction.
(Clears throat) Excuse me, have you found Jesus?
Actually, I’ve been surprised at how much I’ve appreciated by watching any of the episodes the second time! The acting, writing and meaning opens my eyes and it’s almost difficult to put into words. It becomes more than I took in watching initially. I almost feel like the character of the woman at the well - “I’m going to tell EVERYBODY!”
The more we watch each episode the more is revealed to us. so many tidbits and little nuggets hidden to find just like Gods living word !! such a great series the best we have ever binge watched !! we watch each episode at least 3 times💗💗💗
It is a bit like the Bible in that way. The more you read, the more you discover.
16:05 like with Kofni, the acting is Next Level excellent. I am blown away by the authenticity reached by these actors
Dallas, you're being used.........
To spread the Gospel one final time!💟🙏
Ya know I thought to myself, "Man, Dallas went a little light on the 99 thing when Jesus was talking in the city", then you brought it back around at the farm like a right hook to the soul.
“Too soon?” Was a great line, but hands down my favorite was, “Ooo, I’ll take that one.” 😂
I agree, that one had me laugh out loud, the bedroom choice. 🤣
Nope, my favorite was a few moments later when Photina says that Jesus is not afraid of ghosts, then Andrew steps into the house and says, "But I might be." That cracks me up every time!
I loved that line, too! What a great line! Super writing!
Honestly, the synchronized stare that Andrew and Peter do when they look at Matthew as he tells the group in the table that they lost Jesus always makes me chuckle.
Yes!!!
I appreciate tv shows that treat the audience like adults and let them figure some things out for themselves.
I laughed out loud, for five minutes when Jesus was excited to take the haunted room. It was my favorite
My favorite was Jesus disciplining John and Big James! The strong yet loving way He checked them,. Oh... So wonderful!! THAT IS MY GOD!!
Yes I cried, yes I laughed. One thing really stood out to me is when Jesus winked at the man he healed. It was such a wonderful idea.
Yes, the modern language adds, because it is not so foreign or ancient that we can't relate to or understand it.
Hi Wes. What did you mean by "especially since I'm catholic"
Each time I watch I find something new, a new thing revealed to my heart.
Yes, people drawn to Him is the main thing!
.". millions will be drawn to him"
@@inTruthbyGrace Multiple millions have no idea of God or His Son
Just maybe people will get a Bible & read to find out if there is a God or a Savior. 😢 you don’t see the potential to reach so many for His kingdom.
Thank You and Bless you and ALL the CHOSEN family
PS. Things were rough this past year, and I was unable to help, but I am excited to donate for Season 3 and beyond!! I just binge watched Season One, AGAIN!!! ☺️
PPS. “I’ll take that one...” (haunted room - cracked me up!!) 🤣😂🤣😂 I LOVE the humor that humanizes these wonderful biblical heroes, making them so relatable!!
PPPS. Clearly, I DO have words?!! 😆
Well said!
@@deborahangel8761 thank you ☺️
I feel like Dallas is not just director..in moments like these I actually feel pastored just listening to Him ..God bless the Chosen 😊😊
This show is just holy and sublime ❤️
I agree! ✝️
Im from the Philippines 🇵🇭😊and i thank God for the people who pay it forward so we can watch it free at the chosen app🥰🙏⚘
I love this series in general becoz it shows the human side of Jesus, very human yet divine love his expressions you can see that he is full of compassion 🥰❤⚘
Thank God for Dallas too,for giving him the wisdom n knowledge God bless your heart sir🙏❤⚘
Morning 😀😍
I'm so in love with this show!
There’s rejoicing in heaven when baptisms occur! Blessings on this very special day in your lives💕
Thank you!
I'm even crying as you TALK about the episode, forget about when I actually WATCHED it😢BUT they are all Tears of joy, awe and wonder in our GOD🙌
All the scenes in season 2 episode 1 were awesome!!! 👏👏❤️❤️❤️ God bless you more!
@@andreanewell628 I guess I was like the two deciples; Jesus was walking with them, and they had no idea who he was, until he broke Bread.....
It took me a whole moment to realise it was John. I was thinking it was His brother James or Jude.
I love it when Jesus picks up the first scroll and he says that's a favorite memory of mine to show you that He is the Word He was in the beginning. That also resonates with the beginning of the book of John
Dallas, I so laughed when Simon was “describing” Jesus when he was looking for him! “He’s this tall, with a beard.” 🤣🤣🤣
Hmmmm, probably described half the men in town! Thanks!
I wholeheartedly agree...Amen!!!
I love how Mary is looking out for Matthew like the way a caring big sister would.
I don't always agree with everything the show has done, but I can't help but respect the thought that goes into creating The Chosen and the dedication to glorify God with it.
