“It’s not wasted paint if you’re learning” honestly brilliant! Ty!!
You’re welcome ☺️
"It's not wasted paint if you're learning" is so insanely true. Far too many get worked up about "losing" or "wasting" a few drops of paint, when in reality they taught themselves a few things with it, or were able to try out something where there's no pressure. I myself did something like this yesterday, where I spent a few hours painting swatches that were similar in colour to a gunpla kit I'm working on to see what kinds of things I could do to add more life to that grey (and unintentionally wound up going further without the use of an airbrush with such too). In the end, it wound up helping me pick a simpler option, because as much as I loved the technical detail the more complicated ones had, it would have been a mix that would have been like it was declaring war on the purple bits...
Really agree, when I met Roman recently he said the only wasted paint is the stuff you don’t use.. never a truer word
I recently started using purple/violet for my ultramarines base color instead of black. Works neatly for me.
Yup, great combo, much more interesting too
What a *wild* story! Thanks!
There are so many stories out there, wish I could share them all
Blue is also the colour of America during the cold war, with the USSR as Red. This, believe it or not, is why video games have you as a blue protagonist against a red enemy by default.
As a longtime command and conquer player I concur 😉
Now, there is the issue that this is still a British game, and the brits were also red.
Maybe blue is just pretty after all.
Loooooved the art history at the start! What a great combo of history and tutorial. Do you know Hammer of Wrath on TH-cam? They begin every hobby tutorial with some facts about Japanese culture - it's the combination I never knew I needed.
No i didn’t know that channel but I will check them out cheers for the heads up.
Love these videos, always learn something fun about the color. Seems he found out before D&D players that Cobalt is gonna be the end of you lol
Great video Could I ask for Purple or Green next?
Really glad you liked it, green is a good shout, but not sure yet.
Blue marines also pop on a tabletop when you are playing the game especially against all the browns and greys used in terrain. The primary reason I like the Ultramarines. I'm not a fan of the dark navy GW sometimes paints them for the boxart.
Good point, thanks
Near topics as ALWAYS !
Thanks 🙏
I once explained to a guy in a hobby shop that spacemarines chapters are called ultramarines because of the colour, ultramarine blue.
But that is not the worse.
The worst is a another similar incident, in a completely different place, in whcih I had to explain to a guy that the ultramarines receive their name from the colour, and NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND. The guy was always surprised that so many people outside of WH40K were calling it ultramarine blue. And I was like "dude... ".
Indeed, the name sound like it should mean Super Soldier but it actually means beyond the sea.
I still love Ultramarines are no longer Ultramarine lol
They are in my world!
