Wow, this rendition brings back memories of my childhood for this near 70-year old Florida boy singing this song around the campground with the family and friends. Well done!
Our Drill Sergeant used sing this song to us while road marching at Fort Benning Ga. We would repeat it back to him. We were inspired to carry on and not fall out of the march.
Basic training 1975 Fort Ord, CA. Same thing. At 18, I we ran to this song. Well, some others as well, but this one we could actually sing in front of polite folk.
My dad, who came out of Appalachia, used to sing this to me when I was a wee sprout. He died when I was 10. I'm 64 now, and I never had heard it anywhere else before till now. Blessings that this popped up in my feed today.
Harry Belafonte recorded a jazz-infused version of this song in the early 60s, but that's the only other version I'd heard until now. My parents also sang this to my brothers and sister and me when we were very young. 😊
Recently, I've been going through the process of changing my social media status from "married" to "widower." But I thought it important to let you know of the importance and impact of your videos. Of how you have given me a 3:48 minute heart-break from the 24/7 heart-ache. And this happens for each video I watch. So please pass on my gratitude to the rest of the family, and thank y'all from me'all❤ Dale Liberty, SC
I love the support of this family. When anyone else has a little solo, Ellen always look over at them with pride on her face. Everyone is so talented and just overall wonderful. We need more people like them in the world!
Perfect voices, harmonies, love , and country culture. Love their music. I' m a fan , french speaking guy, from Switzerland, Europe, the old world. My father was swiss, my mother was german. I live in the Vaud county. There are 26 counties in Switzerland. Lausanne is the main city in my county. Hope the Petersens love getting letters from their friends outside the USA...
This right there. THIS is pure true Americana. A song about a simple life, sung by beautiful voices in the woods by a fire, played on iconic American instruments.
Early Americana at its finest! My dad, may he Rest In Peace in the Lord, used to sing this a lot. This precious trio of women with their voices raised has no equal! May the Lord bless you and keep you!
Quite an amazement to watch the three sisters sing their way to the crawdad hole and harmonize so beautifully. Their joy to sing and play together is infectious. Just great !
If I were listening to them live, I could listen to these ladies for hours. Wouldn't it be fun to know them personally and hang out with this family? Great musicians, great harmony singing with pleasing voices, and they are so down-to-earth. Well done, I say!
Great song. Always liked that performance on Andy Griffith. Loved that little bit of “Arkansas Traveler” at the end. Can’t wait to see everybody at the Palooza next week!
Oh my goodness, these girls sure brought back some happy time memories. My family played instruments and sang with mama all the time when we were kids. They do this song wonderfully! Thanks for the smiles, ladies!
Saw y'all in Branson this Tuesday (10/11/2022). It was the best show that I've ever seen, and I've seen the best (George Strait, Johnny Cash, Don Williams, etc.). My only suggestion is; don't change a thing. You are a great blessing to us.
Being Dutch I've never watched the Andy Griffin show and thought it was something from long ago, but now I found out he also played Matlock 👀 I've always loved watching reruns of that
Just what I needed this morning! God given talent. Praise God! Excellent musicians! Beautiful voices that compliment each other! BLUEGRASS! And a good laugh at the end!!! Thank you ladies. God bless.
In Australia this was recorded as the Crayfish song.Always one of my favourites. The late Gary Shearston recorded this. I have the single here at home."You get a line and I'll get a pole and we'll go down to that crayfish hole." In Australia there are about 4 species of freshwater crayfish. Some are called "Yabbies" some are "Marron" some are "Murray River Crayish or Lobster"
Yes!!! Something had definitely been missing lately. Now I know what it was. What a treat to have the three of you not only providing the great harmony we know we will get from you, but to have your fabulous playing as well. Of course we love the whole band, but the three of you was just what this tune needed. You can't beat three beautiful women playing a magnificent version of a great old tune. Y'all truly are so good at what you do. Please Miss, we'd like some more. Whenever you get around to it of course. Thanks ladies!

Just tuned into TH-cam and saw how well this unassuming little country song is doing on the Net. The harmony is good working out an excellent arrangement. Good job, Katie. The minor key interlude adds just that touch of complexity to the pleasing simplicity. You have a winner here.

Just catching up on some music videos I haven't watched. Wow! This song really brought back some memories. My dad sang to us kids when we were little. I never saw him much. He traveled mostly playing music when I was young. I never heard that song performed again by anyone else until now. Thank you for making my day!
My grandpa sang this song with his guitar when I was growing up. All my uncles knew how to play instruments and they’d sit acting the table in the kitchen playing and singing every Sunday after church. I have great memories connected with this song!

Did you know that Katie (fiddle) and Ellen (banjo) actually played a lot of Wagon Wheel while they were in college? They even have a 'special' version where Ellen's husband plays the bagpipes. Not on TH-cam, though.😉

You get a line and I'll get a pole, honey
You get a line and I'll get a pole, babe

We'll go fishin' in the crawdad hole
Honey, baby mine
Sell your crawdads three for a dime, honey

Your crawdads ain't good as mine

Hurry up, you slept too late, honey
Hurry up, you slept too late, babe
Hurry up babe, you slept too late
Crawdad man done passed your gate
Honey, baby mine
What are ya gonna do when the lake goes dry, honey?
What are ya gonna do when the lake goes dry, babe?
What are ya gonna do when the lake goes dry
Sit on the bank, watch crawdads die?
Honey, babe of mine

There ain't no crawdads in this lake
Honey, babe of mine
So you get a line and I'll get a pole, honey

You get a line and I'll get a pole
We'll go fishin' in the crawdad hole, honey
Baby honey, baby honey

Sorry for your loss my friend. I lost my dad at 10 as well. I am 66 now. We sang this as kids, with mom and grandma.
