April 2021: I am retired here with my husband. We live in the French Quarter/New Orleans. I am a skilled seamstress, and in our storage facility we pulled recently - an ancient Cajun themed quilt, with a little guy in a pirogue, fishing. It has been damaged by time and mildew, but I used every bit of skill and love to restore it. Now it hangs on my bedroom wall, a true work of art. I was really honored to get the chance to do this. Cajun culture is unique and may disappear... well worth preserving!!
Great story! We visited NOLA in April, walked all over, rode the streetcars, toured the swaps and plantations. We certainly enjoyed the French Quarter. Louisiana Pizza Kitchen and Italian Barrel were our favorite places to eat.
So essentially, through you wealth and gentrification, you were able to put your hand on a piece of cultural heritage that you don't deserve and decided to keep it as some kind of souvenir of a culture you're contributing to assimilate? This thing should be turn in to an acadian memory museum and not kept on some rich people's wall as a piece of deco.
Lived many years in NOLA - East but worked in the French Quarter, NO ONE can speak a single word of French, same with the Cajuns (do they speak French ?) and live in ome cess pit very far from New Orleans and I never actually saw or meet one of them.
Most fun I've ever had was one Saturday night that my neighbors (a good Cajun couple from Lafayette, LA) took my wife and I plus another couple to Cameroon, LA. We approached this building on stilts in the middle of nowhere. We walked up a long staircase into a huge room, lit by a single 40 watt light bulb. The room went silent. I said to my wife:"Oh shit, get behind me". I'd been in plenty of places like this as a Marine and there was only one way out. Well, our Cajun neighbors said something and we were suddenly as welcome as family. The food, the music, the fun didn't stop until 4 AM. Hated to leave; but that was one Saturday night to remember.
My ancestors were also French Canadians from Acadia region. Some emigrated to Louisiana centuries ago! My Dad was born in Vicksburg, Ms. I love the music and the Lady dancing with her partner is my ideal persona of a Woman! Bless you All!

The lady has such Delicate steps , makes it look so easy , I just love this music
She's a sweetheart💝💝
Once lived and worked in Lafayette, Louisiana and miss the Cajun/Zydeco music on the radio spoken in Cajun French. Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler!
I wasn't raised with this music but came to love it when I began to hear it when I went to USL and married a girl who's mother was from Breaux Bridge. Much of my family doesn't really appreciate it. I love it along with lots of other music from classical to R&R. Keep on playing.
Je vous ecoute aussi en Belgique.
C'etait genial!
merci
I've been watching this video many times already and like it every time again 👍
As an Englishman I absolutely love cajon music.... so real. Proper. Authentic...
She is dancing from her heart!! You cannot learn such steps.
Her every step; has a spring in it!.
A fantastic born dancer.
Excellent !! MAY YOU ALWAYS DANCE!!
Beautifully said!
2 years since I have been here this guy must be the best guitarist in the world just for this occasion. He plays the sweet way and flows with the dancers rolls or moves in the grove is he. It is as if it is his life, his self all wrapped up in this song. I love only women but this guy lovingly fits perfect into the schemes of this world within itself. Perhaps the greatest video of all time in my opinion hope ya read this guy like the lady dancer you are great..
Bonjour la Louisiane, du Québec on adore votre musique.
Un tit bonjour du Québec !!! Bravo à vous, super chanson. J'appelle ma mère mamou depuis que je suis tout petit.
A little hi from Québec ! Thank you for the amazing song. I've been calling my mom mamou since i was a kid.
Arthritis in both knees but toe tapping in London. Made me smile. Thank You.
To dance with such a beautiful angel to such angelic music would be magic.
She has a very light dance step, and makes it look effortless.
That's called GRACE !
Ça fait bien plaisir d'entendre chanter dans cette langue !
I have always loved CAJUN music, and I am an old yankee.
Same here, a #JerseyBoy,
but who ya callin' Old? :D
Ditto, born in NJ but had the good fortune to live in SE Texas and the Cajun culture crosses the Sabine River into Beaumont, Port Arthur etc. I fell in love with the Cajun food/music culture then and never outgrew it.
Musique joyeaux. Vive l'Acadiane/French Canadian/'Cajun' Americaine. Pas de deux superb. Encore.
That young lady and her shoes are best thing I have seen for awhile. It's amazing how simple things are the best things in life, thanks for this video.
My sister married a Cajun,a Prudhomme. Good choice.
How could you not have a smile on your face after watching this.. My brother has a barn like this , moving boards and all....
These old barns are built for this type of thing. Song and dance...not has hard on the body when the floor moves to the rhythm. 😉😉
@@TheRealJRC try doing it on a stone floor in a barn it all started in Britain
Get a Cajun band and have a dance...
...I’ll bring the beer
@@weswolever7477 I'd be happy to sit in playing the guitar or mandolin..
Louisiana and its musical genres are the most interesting and complex in our country. I love the Commonwealth of Louisiana.
I was working on pipeline in the early seventies and around Jennings , Lake Author area. I had a girlfriend from there. This reminds me when we’d go out dancing listen to Cajun music and doing the two step. Some of my fondest memories. I wish many times I’d married her and stayed there .
Thank-you musicians and dancers for giving me the sounds and sights of the old French music and celebrations. My people came from France, to Quebec, to Detroit. I was born in Detroit, but have never heard or seen the old music or dance. Thank-you so much for giving me this beautiful, historical view of my ancestors. God bless you all!
