I've had the 770 Pro X LE for a couple of months, and now the 700 Pro X to compare. I feel like the 770 captures your attention immediately with a punchy bass and crystal clear high end. They sound incredible, and I now understand the word "fun" when people describe these headphones. Then I try the 700 and feel slightly underwhelmed, but only at first. Once I got used to the 700, it's a very nice, warm sound that probably is more natural. Like you say in this review, the 700 Pro X is probably more "correct" which is why I'm going to stick with them for general use. Keeping both for different purposes, but just chiming in with my impressions. Your review seems spot on to me! Thanks and keep up the great work.

Just got these a few days ago. Being a long time beyerdynamic fan and owning most of there other headphones I couldn't wait to get these as I found the 700 pro x a bit boring and over damped. I liked that they went back to the 770 v shaped tuning.
I totally get what your saying about gaming with these. I couldn't believe how good they were. They sound absolutely incredible in game. Some of the best soundstage and imageing ive heard on a closed back. Also ASMR was next level if anyone cares about that 👍

My very first set of headphones in 2020 that started this crazy hobby for me was a pair of DT 770 80ohm given to me by my mom of all people. Although my collection has grown and includes Meze, Focal, Sennheiser and DCA sets, I still love my OG DT770s. Might consider these for the office with a boom mic. Excellent review as always

I was actually going to sell my 2016 Utopias until I used them for gaming and then I realized how good they are for Movies and Gaming, the bass rolloff is just perfect for vocal centric applications. It is absolutely ridiculous to use a 2000 dollar pair of headphones for movies and gaming (I bought them 2nd hand, so yeah they were cheaper) but they work perfectly with Schitt Syn to adjust the width and vocal presence. Dumbest Combo ever but it works well.

DT700 has better tuning than 770, but is worse in most other ways. The imaging is a lot worse and they're bad for gaming and have a small non-immersive soundstage while 770 has those fundamentals sorted. They really ask for EQ, but that's free. Need to try these if they're meaningfully better.

The bass bump was my main issue with 770s. It makes everything too congested imo. Got myself a pair of 700 pro x and swapped the fleece pad with my old 770s to regain the clarity and performances edge the extra high frequencies brings up. Its a tiny difference but it makes a world difference. It just transformed into the perfect headphone for me. Also worth noting that the 700 Pro X has better isolation that the 770s and that affects its sound perception. Cheers,

I had the DT1990pro at one point, and I found it harsh and fatiguing and eventually sold it. Sorry to say I wince when I see measurements of other Beyer offerings, I am biased and never want to experient with that company again. The only exception is the original Beyer T1 2nd gen, which supposedly [if driven properly] is supposed to be quite good. But finding one has been challenging...

I can totally understand your experience with the DT1990. When I reviewed it, I appreciated it, but wasn't particularly sad to see it go back. I think the DT770 Pro X is managing the old Beyerydynamic traits a little better while still holding true to the old house sound. The newer tuning approach on the DT700 and 900 Pro X is worth a try if you ever need that sort of headphone - they're very different.

In 2005 I had a Sennheiser HD595, deployed to Iraq, the Sennheisers were held together by tape 6 months in. I got in touch with a friend back home who was also into music. He offered to send me a pair of DT770 80 ohms. These things were built like a tank, they lasted the next 9 months and the entire year of my second tour, the gray pads were just brown by the end. I had them when I was a poor college kid (refreshed with a pad swap) enojying punk and metal the whole way. Im fairly certain I gave them away, they never even broke. Dont let too many of these pretentious 'audio'phile' nerds tell you otherwise, these headphones are badass.

If youre a young person strapped for cash today, you want to get into audio, music appreciation, gaming, movies, etc... Get yourself the 770 Pro X for 200 bucks, get the 6XX for 200 bucks, bam, Pro X is a great closed back with a fun V shape, excellent imaging, good isollation, comfortable, built to last, the 6XX with a nice chilled out sound, can run balanced, play well with tubes, open back, solid construction, more neutral warm sound. Hi Lachlan, don't know if you're experimenting with mics or did a change due to technical malfunction but I very much prefer the sound of you mic/signal chain in the previous video (Don't make the wrong headphone choice!!) to the one used in this video. I am finding this setup sounds boxy, muffled, and boomy in the lower registers. It sounds like it is picking up some room reverb (not saying that is what is happening, just that is how it sounds to me). The setup in the previous video seemed cleaner, better tonally balanced, much more natural sounding. THAT BEING SAID... the previous setup does sound a little more compressed, and with a little more nasality (in comparison).
For reference my signal chain when watching TH-cam is on PC, optical out to Schiit Bifrost 2 (original), then routed via balanced outputs into a Schiit Lokius (tone controls disengaged), single-ended RCA out into the Platin Hub, finally transmitted to the Buchardt A500 via WiSA. Same setup used when listening to both videos.

You're spot on. I switched to the Beyerydynamic M70 Pro X mic just as a test and it really doesn't work for my voice/room. I think I overcompensated when trying to fix it, hence the low end boom and sense of room sound. I'm back to the Blue Encore 300 after the next video and I think the next video where I still used the Beyer mic is a bit better than this one.

I have the 900 Pro X and they're a little neutral / dull. Granted, I bought them for production at home.
I have a groovebox (Syntakt) and power bank I'm wanting to use out and about in public for making music that's a closed headphone. After something a little fun, and I can always go back to 900 pro x when I get home.
Do you think the 770 pro x would be the best bet or 700 pro x?
I tried the original 770 pro in a local shop and it seemed okay, but it's really hard to tell.. feel like ears really need to adjust and unsure about fatigue.
I'm leaning toward the 770 pro x because they're going to be sufficiently different to the 900 pro x, and might be more fun for jamming on the Syntakt.
I swear I had the same problem several months ago. I was after studio monitors and some people recommended against the Adam T5Vs for being too colourful thanks to the ribbon tweeters.

@@KonradSkowronski I really wanted to like the new one but unfortunately everything is true as the way you said.
The bass is kinda boomy and not tight. The mids have a weird boxy and echo-effect feel (both male and female). The highs are less sparky than on the old. They are fine.
BUT the soundstage also narrow and i never had the openness of the old DT770. Gaming or movie watching wasn't a good experience.
Probably listening music due to the mindrage issue is even a bigger problem... It's an U shaped sound. It got a bit better after burn in but only the bass got less. The midrage still feels wrong to me...
They can go loud though. But apart from the look, the new comfier headband and better built quality i think this is a downgrade. No one should consider buying this who liked the original IMO.

@@kutasimusic 🫤 it’s disappointing. I was hoping for an upgrade but it seems like Beyer messed it up. New DT700 Pro X also have many conflicting opinions. Some say they are more natural, more even across the frequency range other call them muffled. Now when on YT is so many biased sponsored videos it’s easy to get misled. For example recently I bought Austrian Audio HiX15. They receive great reviews, opinion-forming WHAT hi-fi among other praised them to be brilliant budget headphones. How they really sound? Strange. They are deprived of most midrange frequencies especially low mods and have over hyped upper midrange and harsh treble that “experts” calls resolving. DT770 250 eat them easily.
I wish I could find hp that are somewhere between Sennheiser HD600 and DT770. Less 9kH spike, more low bass from 100Hz down to sub notes.
Philips Fidelio X2HR are kind of close but they have annoying 5kHz spike, no hi treble air and lack some low bass punch.
I will have to find a shop and test new Beyers in person but after what you said I am little sceptical.

Audio/headphones are just subjective. When you find a headphone that is confortable enough that you can forget about them being on your head for hours at a time (not necessarily meaning light, but when you get lost in whatever you are doing, you arent thinking about them being uncomfortable or potentially getting uncomfortable but just are solely focused on what you are doing) and also not fatiguing. You can find a brand that provides a signature that just works for you and never gets fatiguing. Unfortunately i cant use beyers for long due to treble peaks and find the design doesnt fully close over my ears at times and the sound doesnt feel the same on both sides (even after adjustment). I found that senheisers really close over the ear with their oval shape and angled drivers and the 560s in particular is not fatiguing to me at all. I also have the 770 pro X and while its not as fatiguing as the dt 1990 pro, it still has a little sibilance present. The bass is nice in the sub regions but it seems to be lower upper bass frequencies so to me sounds scooped. Also what i never hear from reviewers is the amount of beyers that rattle in the right (sometimes left) earcups at moderate and pop at loud volumes. So many people have these issues and i have had it on both my beyers driving them with an rme interface and mobile phone.

    Hi Passion!
I recently downgraded to 2 audio converters (Chinese stuff $5 and $12 only, the $12 one has volume knob and headphone output, lol).
I did that to reset my perception of audio.
Worked out rather well, my ears finally took a break!
OFC these things aren't perfect, but timbre wise for me improved severely.
Then, I thought, ok, I know I have always wanted (to try at least) an Audioquest Dragonfly.
Got the Black one. Half price.
I LOVED this thing, and using the Jotunheim 2 with it is even a lot better for me than the ADI-2 DAC (I still think it's garbage).
Now I know the Dragonfly is the sound prob. 90% of what I was looking for.
    I only focus on TIMBER.
FInally voices/whispers/flute sounds/ sound what they should sound like. NOT HARSH.
These to me sound finally natural.
    Snares sound fat.
Kick drums not hidden, for me very good texture.
    Bass too.
The only con I see so far is that it sounds kind of small compared to anything more expensive I have.
    Having said all of this:
Will I like Bifrost 2/64? Will I love it?
